MMHS Eagle HighFLIGHTS: 3-19-18 *MMHS Welding: Our welding program has made it to the semifinals of a national welding contest. The schools were given the direction of "Weld it Forward" and a deadline. We have built our projects and sent them off to those in need in Mexico, but the majority of our vote comes from public voting, starting the 16th of March. Voting ends the 26th of March. You can cast your vote at www.welditforward.com If we win this, our program will receive a $20,000 supply of new welders. To view a short video of the project, copy and paste this link into your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1aehsvpvyg *MMHS Dance Sterling Scholar: Congratulations to our Dance Sterling Scholar State Finalist Emily Bates. She was named first runner up in the State Sterling Scholar awards. Other Important Information: Teacher Appreciation Week: This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! The PTSC has planned a week of activities aimed at showing our teachers how much we appreciate them! The Teacher Appreciation committee has planned a week of popcorn treats, a Sodalicious bar, and a culminating luncheon on Friday donated by Copper Grill Catering. We appreciate their generosity! Student Service Club: Last week, our club made cute activity kits for children staying at the South Davis Community Hospital. The students have been so great at making this a year of meaningful service activities! Golden Eagles Humanitarian Scholarship: If your student is a graduating senior and is participating in the PTSC Student Service Club, they may be eligible for a $500 scholarship! *Summer Driver Education: Summer driver education classes and dates, at Maple Mountain High School, are now posted online. You must have a valid learner permit when signing up. You can sign up at the MMHS finance office. The fee is $100.00. Classes fill up fast, so please don't wait. *MMHS Dance Company Auditions: Dance Company and Dance Excel Auditions 2018-2019 -- Come audition for the 2018-2019 Maple Mountain Dance Company and Dance Excel! Come learn the clinic dance choreography on April 16 or 17th in the dance room from 3-5 pm. Audition in small groups on April 18 starting at 3 pm. Placement for MMDC and Dance Excel Companies will happen on these days. Spread the word. *Attendance Information: Parents and students -- We encourage parents and students to weekly check student grades and attendance on SIS. Also, in that same area, student s citizenship grades may be viewed. If an NC is listed, that indicates an attendance problem and you will need to contact Mrs. Davis (Attendance Secretary) to find out more information on how to get the NC s cleared. *PTSA Corner: Golden Eagles Humanitarian Scholarship If your student is a graduating senior and is participating in the PTSC Student Service Club, they may be eligible for a $500 scholarship!
