Junior Hurling Championship Valley Rovers took on near neighbours Courcey Rovers in round two of the South East Hurling Championship in Kinsale yesterday. Courcey Rovers drew first blood getting the first two points of this game having the advantage of the wind. Valleys responded with an Eoin O Reilly free but on 7 minutes Courceys added another point. Eoin O Reilly (2points), Billy Crowley and two Sean O Regan frees put Valleys 6pts to 3pts ahead after 15minutes. Courceys at this point sensing danger introduced the vastly experienced Seamus Hayes and his introduction was to have a huge bearing on the eventual outcome. Sean O Regan added two more pointed frees and Bill Hawkes added a point from play to Courceys five points in the next 10 minutes before Courceys struck for their first goal. Valleys response was immediate with Eoin O Reilly scoring a point from play and with his last action the injured Joe Crowley sent a speculative shot into the square where Tadgh Fiztgerald was on hand to deftly flick the ball to the net to put Valleys a point up. Courceys registered the last score of the half to leave the score 1-10 apiece at half time with Valleys having the advantage of a reduced breeze in the second half. An Eoin O Reilly free was sandwiched between two Courcey points at the start of the second half. On 38 minutes Tagdh Fitzgerald got in behind the Courcey defence and expertly dispatched the slither to the corner of the net. Courceys got the next two points of the game to level matters Valley Rovers 2-12 to Courcey Rovers 1-15 on 47 minutes. Eoin O Reilly put Valleys in the lead again with 10 minutes remaining before disaster struck for Valleys, when a mistake in defence resulted in them losing possession and the sliother was worked quickly into the square which resulted in a Courcey Rovers goal. Three minutes later, matters got even worse when a Courcey Rovers break up the field resulted in Seamus Hayes getting his and Courceys third goal. Courceys added another point to leave Valleys with a mountain to climb with time running out. Credit to Valleys however, as they kept battling to the end and got a goal in injury time. There was time for one more passage of play when the Courcey goal keeper made an excellent save from Billy Crowley to deny Valleys on the balance of play, a draw they might have deserved. Final score in this game was Valley Rovers 3-13 to Courcey Rovers 3-16. This was a very disappointing result and certainly a game Valleys will feel they might have got more out of. Cathal Dart O'Flynn, Tony McKeown, Michael O'Brien, David Healy, Danny O Sullivan, Aidan Walsh, Johnny Kiely, Sean O'Regan, Colm Butler, Derek Canty, Billy Crowley, Tadgh Fitzgerald, Joe Crowley, Bill Hawkes, Eoin O Reilly. Under 14 Premier 2 football County Semi Final Valleys U14 s run in the Premier 2 football championship came to an end when they were defeated by a strong Carberry Rangers team in Enniskeane last Monday night. Valleys started brightly and with points from Cian Crowley, Adam Kenneally and outstanding captain Aaron O Leary they went up 0-6 to 0-2 inside the first 15 minutes. Carberry then came thundering into the game and scored 3 goals in 4 minutes. Carberry kicked another point to lead 3-3 to 0-6 heading towards half time with Cian Crowley again causing havoc at full forward, Ronan O Connel scoring a great point and Darragh O Shea kicking 1-3 valleys went in a point down 3-5 to 1-10 at half time. The second half continued nip and tuck with Carberry kicking a number of points and two more from Darragh O Shea the game was in the balance. Carberry began to dominate and but for some outstanding defending from Danial Lynch, Cormac Kilduff, Darragh Keane and most notably goal keeper Denny Kiely who made five outstanding saves over the course of the game they could have been out of sight in the second half. Carberry led by two points when corner forward Jason Cronin scored a great goal to put valleys up a point. Once again Carberry came back to go up four points and held that advantage until the final minute when Cian Crowley went through only to see the ball go over the bar. Carberry ran out deserving winners on a score Page 2 of 5

line of 3-13 to 2-13. Definitely football was the winner on the night with the two teams serving up a fantastic game of football. Carberry Rangers now go on to meet Cobh in the final. These lads have put in a tremendous effort this year and after making the semi final in both hurling and football hope to go a step further next year. Well done to all involved. Team: Denny Kiely, Danial Lynch, Cathal O Sullivan, Jack Hurley, Cormac Kilduff, Darragh Keane, Ben Carthew, Ronan O Connell, Adam Kenneally, Brian Hoey, Aaron O Leary, Darragh O Shea, Jason Cronin, Cian Crowley, Gearoid Sweetnam. Subs: Eoin Nash, Ger O Mahony, Cathal Cronin, Niall Kiely, Noel Brady, Danial Hoban, Eoin O Sullivan, George Lordan, Cian O Keeffe, Alan O Brien and Adam Walsh Murphy Under 16 Hurling League An excellent game which went tit for tat all the way and Rovers led by 1.09 to 0.11 at the break. Charlie Lyons with nine points from both play & frees and an opportunistic goal from Matthew Crowley. The second half began with Sliabh Rua gaining the upperhand with two quick goals but our lads put in a storming finish to get a draw in the end. Highlights were a super individual goal from Adam Healy who ran from centrefield to fire home and a further ten points from Charlie. Ronan Hoey, Jack Higgins, Sean Lynch, Johnny Muckian, Jack Crowley, Kieran Rice, Mark O'Leary, Olan Fehilly, Charlie Lyons, Niall Lawton, Adam Healy, Conor Hurley, Paddy O'Sullivan, Daniel Kenneally, Matthew Crowley. Subs: Conor Keogh, Darren Draper, David Muckian, Michael Connolly, Ronan Cremin. Scorers Charlie Lyons 0.19(14f), Matthew Crowley 1.00 & Adam Healy 1.00. Under 16 Hurling Championship Valley Rovers played Blackrock in the first round of the U16 Hurling championship in Carrigaline on Fri night. The starting Team was the same as the previous league game but unfortunately the result was a lot different as Valleys lost 0.08 to 4.12 to a better side in all aspects of the game both in physique and hurling. After ten minutes The Rockies had raced into a 1.02 to 0.01 lead with Daniel Kenneally scoring for Valleys, four further points were added by Charlie Lyons to trail 0.05 to 1.07 at half time, The Blackrock goal courtesy of a penalty. The second half was all Blackrock following 1.02 without reply before two points from Charlie Lyons and another from Daniel Kenneally but then the goals came again. Scorers Charlie Lyons 0.06(4f), Daniel Kenneally 0.02. Subs : Conor Keogh for Pady O'Sullivan, David Muckian for Conor Hurley, Ronan Cremin for Matthew Crowley, Michael Connolly for Jack Higgins & Darren Draper for Mark O'Leary. Final Score Valley Rovers 0.08 to Blackrock 4.12. A disappointing result for this young team but hopefully they can make amends in the backdoor in the coming weeks. Under 13 Hurling Valley Rovers 2-9 to Ballinhassig 0-6 Valley Rovers U13 hurlers were out on Friday night last, playing a fantastic game of hurling against Ballinhassig. After a close first half, we dominated the game and won with a scoreline of 2-9 to 6 points. It was a great chance for the lads to show how well they all have come on this year. With great team work the lads passed the ball well and the scores came freely. Final Score Valley Rovers 2.19 Sliabh Rua 2.19. Page 3 of 5

Under 10 Our u10s have been very active over the last week. On June 20th some of the squad teamed up with the U11s for the Joe Delaney Hurling tournament hosted by Ballincollig. This was a great experience for our lads and they got to play against Na Piarsaighs from Limerick and James Stephens from Kilkenny. On the same day we fielded one team in u10 Rebel Og Monster blitz where the lads performed very well against Kinsale, Shamrocks and Ballycastle Gaels. Our thanks to the u11 mentors for looking after the u10 players at the tournament and to all parents who gave great support in Ballinhassig and Ballincollig. On wednesday evening we played Carrigaline in Under 10 football in Brinny. These were tough close matches and our lads started off slowly but soon improved and got stronger as the games went on. We paid a return visit to Carrigaline for a hurling challenge on Sunday morning. Valleys played some excellent hurling and proved much too strong for their opponents. The lads are progressing well with their skills and as always we urge them to continue practicing at home and attend training. Camogie News Fixture: Senior B Ch'ship v Eire Og Friday July 10th in Cloughduv Munster League v Burgess Duharra On Friday night in Brinny Valleys played Burgess Duharra Tipperary Senior Camogie Champions for the past two years in their final group game of this composition. The first 10 minutes were very even with both teams exchanging points. However Burgess showed their strength and scored two goals. Laura Brew finished a pass from Orla Deasy to the net leaving the half time score 2-9 to 1-3 in favour of Burgess Duharra. Valleys were very much on top for 20 minutes of the second half scoring some fine points and also had a goal from Laura Brew cutting the Burgess Duharrra led. However Burgess Duharra fine the Valleys net shortly before the whistle. This win leave Burgess Duharra topping the group winning all their matches. Team.
