Please help us celebrate the New Year by coming out to the field on Monday, Jan. 1st for flying (Weather permitting) and a warm bowl of Chili (Lunch starts around 11:30 or so). Members are asked to bring a dish or chips or deserts to help us welcome the New Year. In this issue... Meetings begin at 7:00pm during the winter (CST) and 8:00pm during the summer (CDT). Call to Order: President Tom Kirk called the meeting to order at 7:05. There were approximately 13 members present, plus one guest. Previous Minutes: Previous minutes were accepted as printed in the Club Newsletter. Treasurer Report: Jim Danforth presented the treasurers report. There is a current balance of $784.02 left as the end of the year approached, and it was noted that $1,000 is still owed on the tractor. Old Business: There was no old business. New Business: The schedule of events was discussed as published in the previous newsletter. It was decided that a club-racing day would be added to the club calendar of events in June. The Chilly-Chili Fun Fly was discussed for January 1st. Ken Ausili has agreed to fix up a big bowl of chili for the event. Dues were discussed for the New Year. After some discussion the dues as published in the previous newsletter were generally agreed to. Please check elsewhere in this month s newsletter for the complete SIRS 2007 dues policies and rates as approved at the December meeting. Show & Tell: Stan Thompson won the 50/50 drawing and graciously donated all of his winnings back to the Sirs Club. Thanks Stan! Orville presented his Slick Cat, which was a modified 4 Star model. He had done modifications to the nose area. Tom Kirk showed off his new CP Blade Pro electric helicopter and discussed how rugged it was. Nate also showed off a very nice electric helicopter and did a short flight demonstration later after the meeting. Adjournment: Motion to adjourn was presented and seconded at 7:50. SIRS Club Swap Meet Sale and swap your stuff for more stuff at the Interstate Center. April 21, 2007, Saturday 10:00 AM until? Clean up day at the field Come out and help your club get the field ready for a new year! May 12 th, 2007, Saturday 6:00 PM until Club Meeting at 8:00 PM SIRS Spring Fling Static Show Bring out your new models and show them off. Secret ballot vote of show attendees to pick out Favorite new model of the year. Open class event so any kit built, ARF, purchased plane or whatever can compete. May 26 th, 2007, Saturday 10:00 AM until? SIRS Heli-Daze Fun Fly Bring out your helicopters and brush up on your hovering and/or 3-D helicopter flying. Field is still open to all normal flying of everyone, but we d really like to see a nice selection of helicopters gather together! Helicopter take-off and landing should be limited to center of North part of the field. Planes should fly East/West pattern. Everyone should use normal frequency board procedures. June 9 th, 2007, Saturday 9:00 AM 3:00 PM SIRS IMAA Big Bird Fly-in IMAA legal planes only. IMAA membership required. Field is closed to regular flying. Let s see those giant scale airplanes take to the skies of Central Illinois. Aerobatics, war birds and classic models of yesteryear will all be represented. Bring out your giant scale airplanes or just come out for a great day of flying! A great day for the families to come out to the SIRS club flying field. No landing fees! June 23rd, 2007, Saturday 8:00 AM 11:00 AM SIRS Space Cowboy Rocket Launch Bring out your hobby rockets for some model rocketry fun. Rocket engine size is limited to B6-4 or smaller. No exceptions!!! Event will be cancelled if winds are unfavorable (Blowing South to North). Flying field is closed to all other flying during morning. All participants must follow exactly the instructions of the safety directors! Come out and have a blast! July, 2007 Date to be determined SIRS Supports the Prairie Aviation Museum by providing to students of their Summer Aviation Camp an opportunity to see and learn about the sport of Radio Control Model Aircraft, followed by an opportunity for each student to take a turn at the sticks on a buddy box with a SIRS pilot. Great fun for the students, and fun for the volunteers who assist as well! Time to be determined, but it is usually a weekday early afternoon.

July 15 th, 2007, Sunday 1:00 PM to? SIRS War Bird Wonders Day Bring out your war birds on this fine Sunday afternoon. Field is still open to all normal flying of everyone, but we d really like to see a nice selection of war birds gather together! Everyone should use normal frequency board procedures. July 28 th, 2007, Saturday 1:00 PM to? SIRS Circle Daze Fun Fly Bring out your control line airplanes and show off an alternative to those nutty wireless airplanes (Those things will never catch on). Field is still open to all normal flying of everyone, but we d really like to see a nice selection of control line airplanes gather together! Control line planes should be limited to North part of the field. Radio Control planes should fly East/West pattern. Everyone should use normal frequency board procedures. August 12 th, 2007, Sunday 10:00 AM to? SIRS Heli-Daze 2 Fun Fly Same format as May 26 th Heli-Daze. August 26 th, 2007, Sunday 1:00 PM to? SIRS Eclectic Electric Day Bring out your electric powered flyers on this fine Sunday afternoon. Field is still open to all normal flying of everyone, but we d really like to see a nice selection of electric powered aircraft gather together! Everyone should use normal frequency board procedures. September 15 th, 2007, Saturday 1:00 PM (September 16 th, 2007 Rain Date) SIRS Thompson Cup Race Who feels the need for speed? Who likes to go fast and turn left? November 10 th, 2007, Saturday 5:00 PM SIRS Annual Banquet Come one, come all! Flyers, spouses, kids, friends & family are all welcome at this sumptuous banquet located in the finest digs that Covell has to offer!
