FROM THE BRIDGE JULIE NOBLE, COMMODORE Welcome Fall. I think everyone will enjoy having some cooler weather with lower humidity (at least that is what we are hoping for). It is with sadness that I share with you the passing this month of our member and friend, Jim Noyes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Our thoughts are also with Gulfport's young sailor, John Harrison Doucet, who was severely injured a couple of weeks ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families at this difficult time. September has been a busy month at the club and October is going to be as well. Grill your own is still going strong and Sandy Pace has been doing a great job with our Friday night dinners and Thursday night desserts. We have officially hired Sandy for Thursday nights so give her a warm welcome when you see her. I know she will do a fantastic job - and she is a really good cook. Karaoke with Ronnie Hammons is still a fun time - check the calendar for dates and times. We had our annual Luau on the 17 th which was great - good food, decorations, music and friendship. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. As always, a big thank you to Charlie Coleman, Terry Thomas and everyone else for all the work they do around the club. You are all greatly appreciated for your hard work and dedication to the club. We couldn't do it without you. We had the LBYC Fall Series Regatta and are pleased to announce the winners - First Place went to Free Spirit (Tom Stokes and crew), Second Place went to Blow Me Away (Mark Oehmichen and crew) and Third Place went to Dock Darlins (Jocelyn Turnbough and crew). Congratulations to all. October is going to be a busy time at the club beginning with our 14 th Annual Junior Fishing Rodeo. The Elks Lodge #978 in Gulfport is lending us a big hand by providing over 100 rods/reels and bait for children to use at the rodeo. Bring your children, grandchildren, other family and friends for a fun day. There will be hamburgers and/or hot dogs, drinks, trophies and prizes. It's free and open to the public. We will also have Bunco on Wednesday the 12 th and our Halloween Party on Saturday the 29 th. WELCOME CRUISERS. Cruisin' the Coast starts Sunday, October 2 nd. The kick-off parade is Monday, October 3 rd in Long Beach. We will be having the Cruisin' Country Breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 6-8. Be sure to check the calendar, the website and Newsletter for details on this and other upcoming events in October. Also, look for flyers and reminders that might be sent to you via email or on the tables at the club, and, as always, see you at your club. VIPER BOAT FUND DONATIONS: $2,085 FRIDAY NIGHT BELL RINGER September was unlike August. No winners in September. The following missed out, not only on the $250 bar tab they could have collected, but also the Happy Hour Specials and the more than delicious, light evening meal served on Fridays: Tom Barrett, Lisa Moran, and Roy Burke. Be sure to check out the calendar for the Friday specials, and then mark your calendar to come to the Club to enjoy yourself.

There are three ways to do this: (1) Call me at 228/206-2263; (2) email me at skaquigley@ gmail.com, or (3) Leave your updated info with Linda at the bar. Thank you. HOUSE COMMITTEE DANA BURKE The month of October starts off with Cruising the Coast, which brings all those cool cars. Our club will host a breakfast on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings (6 th, 7 th & 8 th ). Members are just as welcome as the Cruisers from 7:00 til 10:00, so come join the fun and talk with the many visitors who participate in this event. Also, on Monday the 3 rd, the club will be open downstairs (there is a VIP party upstairs). The club will open at 4:00 PM, so you can watch the parade of cars drive by the club. The Luau was a lot of fun and the music and food were great. Thanks to June Wiggins, Marguerite Hess and Terri Oehmichen for decorating. Thank you to the servers: Dixie Huch, Marguerite Hess and Sandy Pace and to Julie Noble for the rice and cole slaw. Thank you to Bo Clarke for cooking the pork and chicken. Desserts - Thanks to Sally Kapp, Sandy Pace and Lynn Hunt and Kevin. Thanks to Shelda Jones for selling tickets and to Christopher Harris for washing dishes. Many of these ladies also helped with the clean up. It takes a village to make this club run and I appreciate all who helped. Our drink of the month will be Crown Royal Hard Ginger Ale - Crown Royal VANILLA with Ginger Ale. If you don't like Ginger Ale, you can ask for another mixer. Diet Ginger Ale will also be available. Give it a try, you might like it - I have and it is good.
