All medical paperwork must be completed in order to participate in the Saginaw High School Cheer program, including practices, summer camp, games and competitions. IMPORTANT: If you have not participated in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD athletics in the past year (May 1, 2017 - present) you must have a physical on file in order to try out. 5 Tryout Permission Form We are honored that your child has expressed an interest in trying out for a high school cheerleading squad in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. We hope this extracurricular choice proves to be a wonderful experience for each participant. The following information should be taken into consideration when making the final decision to give your child permission to try out for the Saginaw High School Cheerleading Squad: Expenses: Expenses are based on initial fees, competition fees, and miscellaneous expenses incurred throughout the year. Initial expenses include, but are not limited to, complete uniform, backpack, accessories, summer cheer camp and practice clothes. Competition fees include, but are not limited to, travel expenses which may include hotel, transportation, meals, entry fees, and entertainment. Miscellaneous expenses include, but are not limited to, decorations, pep rally outfits, meals, and special events. Estimate of Initial Cheer Expenses: $1,000.00-$1,500.00 Time Commitment: Commitment to the Saginaw High School Cheer Squad is a requirement. Mandatory practices begin after tryouts, throughout the summer, and all school year. Cheerleaders will practice between two to four days a week. Cheerleaders are required to attend all football games, home basketball games, competitions, and any other function required by the coaches. Physical Injury: Injury is a personal risk that every cheerleader and their parent must consider. These risks include, but are not limited to, muscle pulls, dislocation, broken bones, concussions, and catastrophic injuries such as paralysis or even death. Drug Testing: All cheerleaders within Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD are eligible for drug testing. Rules and Regulations: The rules and regulations are stated in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Cheerleading Constitution. It is available on the Saginaw High School Cheer website for review. A Saginaw Cheerleader is required to abide by those rules and regulations.

8 Saginaw Cheer Social Media Contract The Saginaw High School Cheer program recognizes and supports the students rights to freedom of speech, expressions, and association, including the use of social media networks. In this context, however, each student must remember that cheering and competing for the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District is a privilege. As a Saginaw cheerleader, you represent the school district and you are expected to portray yourself, your team, your school, and your school district in a positive manner at all times. As a Saginaw cheerleader, you are placed in a leadership position. As a leader, you are to present yourself in a positive manner at all times. Please understand that if you participate in social media, you are responsible for anything you post and for anything something else posts of you. This includes, but is not limited to: photos, statuses, Snapchats, or tweets you post or retweet, groups you may join, pictures others post of you, and statuses or tweets others post to your page. It is important to exercise care while using social media and to understand that what may seem private in the digital world can often become public, even without knowledge or consent. This contract will be used to ensure a positive representation of the student, the Saginaw cheer program, Saginaw High School, and Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District. Below are the social networking guidelines which provide the following direction for social networking site use: Similar to comments made in person, the Saginaw cheer program will not tolerate disrespectful comments and behavior online, such as: Derogatory language or remarks that may harm teammates, coaches, teachers, other student athletes, other students, or school representatives of Saginaw or any other school Incriminating photos or statements depicting violence, hazing, sexual harassment, full or partial nudity, inappropriate gestures, vandalism, underage drinking, selling/possessing/using controlled substances, or any other inappropriate behavior (including the use of profanity) Creating a serious danger to the safety of another person or making a credible threat of serious physical or emotional injury to another person
9 Social media outlets will be used as a communication device. They will also be used to encourage involvement with family, friends, fans, colleges, and recruiting outlets. Do not be afraid to retweet and like so we can promote all sites. Posting pictures, retweeting, or liking a post where this behavior is going on also indicates your approval. If you are asked to remove a post from any website, you must do so immediately! This is for the protection of your reputation and that of the Saginaw Cheer team. By signing this social media contract, you are stating that you will follow the rules indicated above and you understand that your coaches may impose discretionary consequences including but not limited to probation or dismissal from the team for failure to comply with the stated rules.
