I<INGS RIVER GAZETIE Volume 9, Issue 11 The official publication of the Kings River Regulators November 2004 Cold but Sunny - Hope you were there! by Slick Rock Rooster, Mayor A cold breeze was blowing and the limbs from the trees were coming down as fifty cowboys began the November shoot. Cowboys were looking for jackets and stampede strings to hold their hats when we started. Then the wind died down and we had a beautiful clear day to shoot a great match. The fifty shooters that turned out were entertained with a fun match put together by Fannie Mostly and Ramrod. Fannie Mostly wrote a great match with lots of movement and a few decisions for the shooter to make on his own. Great job, Cowgirl. Posse leaders Ramrod, Coarsegold Kid, and El Maestro did a great job of guiding the shooters through the course of frre. We had new shooters show up including Peculiar Paul, Swing Shift, Perilous T and Lyin' Ryan. Salutes to the new shooters. Welcome to the sport. It was great to have a class of Frontiersman with Wildcat John, Slim Slicker and Major Gregor, making up the class. Twelve shooters chose to shoot Duelist, making it the largest class of the match, followed by ten in Traditional, and eight in the Senior category. Congratulations to all that participated. Welcome back to Junebug McCaffrey. It is good to see and hear her back at a match. Many thanks to Ma Steele and Swanee Rivers for all of their help in the office. They work very hard doing the paperwork to make a match possible and put out the scores and the newsletter. Thank you ladies! Question? Where is the California state Champion Duelist, Fort Miller '04 overall winner, Deadly Tedley? We miss shooting with him. December Match For December's match we will try something new. We will shoot six stages. We will shoot three stages, take a twenty minute lunch break, and then shoot three more. Bring a little extra ammo and a light lunch. A work day is scheduled for Saturday, January 29. We will work on range maintenance and repairs. Lunch will be served. FRPC elections will be held after lunch, and probably a swap meet. FRPC Elections This day is also the day of Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club election ofboard ofdirectors. Your votes are needed to elect the new board members and support FRPC. KRR members running for election to the Board are: Judge Jeremiah Steele aka David Moll, Range Officer Talon Hawke aka Dick Smith, Parliamentarian Slick Rock Rooster aka Mike Cuneo, 1st Vice President. When you visit the range, please sign the nomination petitions in the range house. On the lighter side- A True Texan On a transatlantic flight, a plane passes through a severe storm. The turbulence is awful, and things go from bad to worse when one wing is struck by lightning. One woman in particular loses it. Screaming, she stands up in the front of the plane. "I'm too young to die," she wails. Then she yells, "Well, ifl'm going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there anyone on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?" For a moment there is silence. Everyone has forgotten their own peril. They all stare. Eyes riveted, at the desperate woman in the front of the plane. Then a man from Texas stands up in the rear of the plane. He is handsome: tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He starts to walk slowly up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt. One button at a time. No one moves. He removes his shirt. Muscles ripple across his chest. She gasps... He whispers "Iron this -- and then get me a beer." -Contributed by a KRR cowboy (who else??)
