Jim Bish Contributor 1987-2013 Jim Bish came to Woodbridge as a substitute teacher in 1986 and by the end of that school year, he was offered a fulltime position teaching Social Studies in Fairfax County and also at Woodbridge Senior High School. Jim liked working at The Best School East of the Mississippi so he chose to become a Viking. Jim didn t waste any time getting involved with extra -curricular activities as he became the Norsemen Club sponsor his first year and then worked on the chain gang at all home Varsity Football games for 13 years. In addition he has served as the Freshman Boy s Crew Coach and later the Crew Team Liaison and then President of Woodbridge High School Crew Boosters, Inc.. Besides being an outstanding Social Studies teacher from 1987 until 2013, Jim served as the Department Chair from 2002 through 2007. Jim was a Charter Member of the WSHS Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee when the Hall of Fame was initiated in 2006. He used his love for history and the skills that go with that to help gather important information about the athletes, coaches and teams of Woodbridge Senior High School since it s opening in 1964. Over the past eight years, Jim has compiled an incredibly detailed accounting of season records, individual statistics and the accolades and honors of many of the amazing teams, athletes and coaches that have competed at WSHS for the past 49 years. These records are critical in our efforts to honor those athletes, coaches and contributors with induction into the Hall of Fame. Woodbridge Senior High School has been graced with a large number of dedicated and gifted athletes and Jim s work has helped to bring many of the qualified candidates to us for consideration and the Hall of Fame honors that they so richly deserve. Jim is still compiling these athletic records and we continue to discover additional Hall of Fame caliber athletes every year from the legendary Viking Athletic history.

Richard Hilleary Wrestling Coach 1984-2000 Richard Hilleary led Woodbridge to its most dominating era in wrestling. During his fourteen years (1984-1998) as Woodbridge s head coach he produced six (87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 98) Commonwealth/Cardinal District Championships, four (87, 88, 90, 91) Northwest Regional Championships and led Woodbridge to two teams (90, 91) Virginia State Duals finals. In addition, he coached a variety of other sports at Woodbridge and as head baseball coach in 1994 led Woodbridge to the Commonwealth District Championship. Hilleary s regional titles represent four of the five won by Woodbridge all-time and while his teams won six of the eight Woodbridge district titles won all-time. The two appearances in the Virginia State Wrestling Team Dual finals are the only appearances in the school s history. He also produced two state champions: Brian Shaffer in 1986 at 132 pounds and Daryk Moistner in 1991 at 171 pounds. During his final season coaching at Woodbridge, 1997-98, Woodbridge set a single-season school record for victories at 31-1 which still stands. During that season, Woodbridge took first at the Norfolk Sports Club Titan Wrestling Classic and another first at at the 10-team Viking Wrestling Tournament. At the end of that season he was selected as the Washington Post 1998 Wrestling All-Met Coach of the Year. As a result of his play, he was moved up to the varsity and received a varsity letter. During the spring, Conger started as a freshman on the varsity soccer team and helped lead Woodbridge to the Commonwealth District and Northwest Region Soccer titles. That season, he also helped Woodbridge to the Virginia State Tournament Championship game. After that season, Conger was recognized by the Potomac News as an All-Area First Team player. Nashunda helped Woodbridge to their best ever finish for a season during the 1997-98 year by getting Woodbridge to the Virginia AAA Quarterfinals before ending their season with an 18-7 record. The AAA Quarterfinals were the closest to the state championship that the program has ever seen. During her four-year career she helped Woodbridge to a 65 wins vs. 27 losses record. During her sophomore year, Woodbridge dominated opponents by easily winning the Cardinal District and Northwest Region before falling in the AAA State Semifinals. Again, Kent led the team in scoring while capturing both District and Regional First Team recognition in addition to earning a selection to the Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention team. As a freshman and sophomore Mumley led Woodbridge to the state semi-finals and as a junior to the finals. During her junior campaign she helped lead Woodbridge to an undefeated season, state championship, and a national number one ranking by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Along the way, Mumley collected First Team All-Cardinal District and All-Region each of her final two years at Woodbridge while earning Second Team All-State as a junior and First Team All-Statthe Washington Post and was chosen Second Team All-Met her senior year while also being selected as the Cardinal District and Northwest Region as a senior. She was chosen Honorable Mention All-Met as a sophomore and a junior by Player of the Year. During that four-year stretch, Woodbridge won four straight Commonwealth District Championships, while making their first ever appearance in the AAA State Semifinals in 1993. During the 1994, 95, and 96 campaigns the Vikings advanced to the Northwest Regional tournament. Dorsett had a combination of skills on the hardwood. He had excellent quickness adding to his excellent ball handling and defensive skills. In addition, Ahmad was a great scoring threat and excellent rebounder. During his senior season he served as team captain and he always directed the team s offensive and defensive alignments while helping Woodbridge to a 20-4 record. His play during his senior season brought a lot of recognition including First Team Commonwealth District. Ahmad was recruited heavily by George Mason University where he was a four-year starter for the Patriots. He was named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie team as a freshman playing for head coach Paul Westhead. Over the next three years he served as co-captain for new head coach Jim Larranaga and helped lead the team to the conference title and a spot in the 1999 NCAA Tournament.
