ALWAYS install and use gate as directed using all required parts. STOP using when a child can climb over or dislodge the gate. Use only with the locking/latching mechanism securely engaged. To prevent falls, never use at top of stairs without wall mounting cups. NEVER use to keep child away from pool. NEVER leave child unattended. Always close and lock the gate behind you. gate frame installation: 1 st Unlock and open the foot pedal. Press and lift foot pedal latches. 2 nd Lay gate frame on floor with foot pedal side of the gate flush against wall. 1 Extend gate frame to doorway s opposite edge. press release button troubleshoot: If you accidentally extend the gate frame out too far, use the release button on the bottom of the gate frame to readjust. See troubleshooting section for more details. click! click! click! 2 3
gate frame installation (continued): tight! tight! tight! Locate pressure pad near foot pedal. Tighten pressure pad firmly to wall. 3! Note: Apply pressure to the "arms" of the gate frame. Pull upward and into doorway. Rotate gate frame upwards into door frame. 4 4
gate frame installation (continued): Step down on foot pedal to lock frame in place. Rotate top adjustment wheels until gate frame "arms" are level and even. WARNING For use at top of stairs, wall cup installation is MANDATORY. 5 6 STOP! top of stair installation/wall cups: Follow these wall cup installation instructions when using gate at TOP OF STAIRS (MANDATORY), or if using wall cups for a standard opening (optional). If opting not to use wall cups for a standard opening, move to Gate Door Installation instructions on page 9. With a pencil, trace the entire outline of each pressure pad directly onto the wall. 1 5
wall cup/top of stairs installation (continued): 1 st Squeeze release latches on both sides of foot pedal and lift up. 2 nd Remove frame. 2 Place the center of the wall cup over the center of the circular outline on the wall. B 6 Mark drill holes with a pencil through the center of the wall cups. x4 3
wall cup/top of stairs installation (continued): Note: If mounting directly into wood, skip this step.!! Note: If mounting into plaster or drywall, follow this step and use the wall anchors provided. C 1 st Drill a 7/32'' pilot hole into each of the 4 center marks. 2 nd Insert wall anchors into pilot holes. 4 1 st Remove backing from one side of each adhesive mounting pad. 2 nd 3 rd Attach one pad to the back of each wall cup. wall cup/top of stairs installation (continued): Align the wall cups so the center hole is placed directly over the wall anchor. Stick wall cups to the wall. press press! Note: The bottom wall cups should rest on the floor.! press Make sure all wall cups are facing up. press 6 Screw wall cups into wall. D 8 x4 7
wall cup/top of stairs installation (continued): Repeat "gate frame installation" steps. The pressure pads on the gate frame will rest within each wall cup. 8 gate door installation: With the gate door open 90, lower gate door on to the top and bottom hinges on the gate frame. top bottom 9 9
gate door installation (continued): Using the handle, slide the gate door across the entire width of the opening.push the handle into the gate latch to lock. if you have baseboards: You can still use this gate if you have baseboards. Simply use the adjustment wheels to extend the pressure pads on the gate frame arms until the top of the gate door is tight, secure, and level. Rotate wheels to tighten. 10 IMPORTANT If frame is loose, reinstall. 1 2
gate operation: To open: Press the release buttons on both sides of the door handle and pull back. To close: Slide the door closed until the handle clicks into the latch. squeeze press and pull back troubleshooting: Extended the gate frame too far? Need to remove the gate entirely? First, use the previous steps in this instruction booklet to remove the gate door, unlock foot petal, and remove gate frame from the opening. There is a release button located on the underside of the gate that will allow you to slide the gate back to a smaller width. 1 st locate release button on underside of gate frame 2 nd press inward & slide gate frame to a smaller width maintenance: Check all hardware to ensure gate is securely in place before each use. Do not use gate if any of the components are damaged or missing. Wipe surface with a damp cloth or sponge, using mild detergent and warm water to clean.
