Smith, Samardzija Set To Rehab In San Jose San Francisco Giants pitchers Will Smith and Jeff Samardzija are scheduled to play for the San Jose Giants during this opening home series. Smith, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery and hasn t pitched in a major league game since October 2016, is set to join San Jose tonight. Samardzija is returning from a pectoral strain suffered during spring training last month and is slated to make the start for San Jose on Saturday.
