Turner advised that subsequent x-rays and veterinary examination of Stop Short had revealed no abnormalities other than that the horse had jarred up following its run in the aforementioned race. Ms Turner indicated that Stop Short would be freshened up prior to its next race start and she will submit a veterinary clearance, as requested by Stewards, prior to nominating. Wyong Thursday 30 June 2016 Race 7: Give Me 5 For Kids Charity Cup Benchmark 70 Handicap 1100m: Badajoz The Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the tactics adopted on Badajoz in this event. When questioned, App. B. Ryan stated that he was instructed to take up a midfield position if possible and to bring his mount out on straightening to endeavour to find clear running. App. Ryan stated that he was able to take up a trailing position as instructed in the early stages, and leaving the 600m his mount commenced to race keenly, shifted out and became awkward on the heels of Golden Shoes. App. Ryan stated that, following this, he elected to shift to the inside of the heels of Golden Shoes where he followed King's Tariff. When questioned as to whether or not there was an opportunity when making the home turn to trail Golden Shoes, which would have then afforded him the option to improve to that horse's outside on straightening, App. Ryan agreed with Stewards that he had erred in not trailing that runner as, in electing to follow King's Tariff making the home turn, his mount was badly held up in the straight and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 100m. In all the circumstances, Stewards advised App. Ryan that this ride would be referred to the Riding Skills Panel where he would be required to undergo remedial training. RACE 1: Blanco Cooking Class 1 and Maiden Plate 2000m: The track was upgraded to Good (3) at 12.25 p.m. retrospectively to include this event. Our Rocket A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Bleiler at the start, was crowded between Cilla and Lumberjack. Passing the 200m, after being taken out slightly by Our Rocket, got its head up and had to be restrained when shifting across the heels of Got To Think. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.
20160704K GR 2 Star Of The Ring As C. Reith was indisposed due to illness, permission was granted for non-claiming apprentice W. Costin to be substituted as the rider of the mare. RACE 2: Casio 3YO Maiden Plate 1200m: El Vee Are over the concluding stages, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between Meri Rani and My Surfer Girl, which shifted in slightly. When questioned regarding his riding rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, and in particularly how Meri Rani was able to obtain a position to the inside of his mount shortly after straightening, T. Angland stated that he was unaware that Meri Rani was still positioned behind him, having expected that runner to improve to the outside of his mount. He further stated that, despite being unaware of the position of Meri Rani, he felt that he had not left sufficient room for a runner to improve to his inside initially, however, when his mount shifted out slightly, Meri Rani was able to improve to his inside. Gud Onya suffered a superficial laceration to the inside of its near hind hock en route to the course and, after arriving on course, was inspected by both official veterinarians and cleared to run. Gud Onya was reinspected after completing its preliminary behind the barriers and it was confirmed that the horse was fit to race. Slow to begin. A postrace veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Meri Rani bumped at the start. My Surfer Girl bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages, and was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-hind leg. Stable representative Mr G. McRae was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. Engaging after being held up prior to the 100m, attempted to improve into a narrow run between Pomelo (T. Angland) and Boston Light passing the 100m. After initially shifting out and bumping Boston Light, the gelding then shifted back in to a position behind Pomelo and had to be checked by its rider when Pomelo shifted out slightly. T. Angland was advised to exercise more care. RACE 4: Omega Altise Cooling 3YO and Up Maiden Plate 1400m: Prescience slow to begin. Laid in in the straight. Zaunkonig began awkwardly. More Moet over the concluding stages, raced in restricted room between Black On Gold and Fencourt, which laid out under pressure. Lamma Hilton began awkwardly. B. El-Issa (More Moet) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out when rounding the home turn, making heavy contact with Black On Gold, which became unbalanced, was taken out and bumped Lamma Hilton, which was carried wider. Tirone Miss slow to begin and got its head up shortly after the start. RACE 6: Shriro Commercial Appliances Benchmark 70 Handicap 1400m: Satirical Magic slow to begin. Swift Reply, which was slow to begin and commenced to overrace in the early stages, passing the 1200m, when continuing to overrace, had to be steadied away from the heels of Tabrobane and, in doing so, shifted out and made contact with Caton, which was hampered and carried wider into the running of Satirical Magic, which was checked and carried wider. Tycoon Flutter Change of tactics to be ridden more forward: led. A post-race veterinary examination, which hung in in the straight, did not reveal any abnormality. Tabrobane bumped shortly after the start by Choice Larga, which shifted out. Don't Doubt Marley after being loaded, became fractious and got its hind leg up on the barrier partition for a short period of time. The filly was inspected by the Club's veterinary officer and passed fit to start. T. Clark advised that, in his view, Don't Doubt Marley does not run out a strong 1400 metres and was under pressure from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Dr Sykes slow to begin. Bit Of Cheek As C. Reith was indisposed due to illness, permission was granted for S. Clipperton to be substituted as the rider of the mare. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested by its rider. RACE 7: Neil Perry By Omega Class 2 Handicap 1200m: Torchbearer S. Clipperton advised that, whilst the gelding was under pressure and was not making ground, at the 200m the gelding blundered and consequently became badly unbalanced and lost ground and for this reason he did not ride it out completely after this. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Cricklewood raced in restricted room for some distance passing the 700m. Akumandi began awkwardly, ran out and overraced in the early stages. RACE 8: Omega Cooking Benchmark 65 Handicap 1600m:
20160704K GR 4 Cinema Paradiso was held up from the 400m until approaching the 200m where it had to be shifted to the outside of the heels of Magic Panther to continue into clear running. Magic Panther passing the 500m, was bumped by Fired Up when that runner shifted out to improve. When questioned, M. Bell stated that his instructions had been to find cover, as it was the gelding's first start over 1600 metres. He added that, despite beginning well, he was mindful of his instructions and restrained his mount in an attempt to find cover, however, when the runners to his inside, who he had expected to push forward, did not, he was obliged to race wide throughout the event and in his opinion contributed to the gelding's failure to finish the race off strongly. A post-race veterinary examination of Magic Panther did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr M. Costa advised that the intention was to have the horse positioned where comfortable. Prince Memnon slow to begin. Stroke Of Eight held up in the early part of the straight and had to be directed to the outside of Prince Memnon to continue into clear running. Midnight Ride began awkwardly and, shortly after, was crowded between Fired Up and Cinema Paradiso, which began awkwardly and shifted out. Overraced in the middle stages. Path Of Justice bounded on jumping. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, B. Avdulla stated that Path Of Justice had been fractious behind and in the barriers and, after beginning awkwardly, he had to make some use of his mount to take up a forward position. He further stated that Path Of Justice raced too keenly throughout the event and for this reason he allowed his mount to stride forward prior to the 600m. He added that, in his opinion, this was the principal reason that the gelding failed to finish its race off strongly. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. The post-race condition of the gelding will be followed up with Trainer M. Smith, at which time Stewards will determine whether any action should be taken.
