Jorge deals, Miracle score five late runs en route to 6-2 win Miracle starter Felix Jorge returned to form on Thursday night with seven scoreless innings to guide the Miracle to a 6-2 victory. Jorge was coming off a season-low five innings on May 18 with a season-worst four runs allowed to the Dunedin Blue Jays. Jorge recorded 10-of-21 outs on the ground, scattered five hits with two walks while striking out five. Jorge s ERA is now down to 1.73. Up 1-0 going into the bottom of the eighth, the Miracle plated five runs on the combination of Kyle Grana and Nicholas Frey out of the Palm Beach bullpen. The Miracle sent 11 men to the dish with five in a row recording RBI. Max Murphy, Alex Real, Logan Wade, Tanner Witt and Brian Navarreto each knocked in a run in the eighth. Leading by six, Yorman Landa struggled to record the final three outs and allowed two runs while loading the bases before exiting. Brandon Peterson induced an game ending double play to earn his third save of the year. Gibson makes second MLB rehab start for Miracle On April 26, Kyle Gibson went on the disabled list for the Minnesota Twins with a shoulder strain after four starts. Gibson, a veteran of four years and 77 starts in the big leagues, had gone 0-3 with an ERA of 6.10 to begin the season. After nearly a month on the shelf, Kyle returned to action and suited up for the Miracle in a rehab start against the Tampa Yankees on Sunday. Gibson went 4.1 innings with no runs allowed, giving up three hits with one walk and striking out two. Gibson began his professional career with the Miracle in 2010 after being drafted 22nd overall by the Twins in 2009. Kyle made only seven starts before earning a promotion to Double-A that season. Gibson also had a prior rehab stint in Fort Myers in 2012 and made two appearances. Navarreto s bat heating up as Southwest Florida temp rises April of 2016 will not be chronicled in the Brian Navarreto career scrap book. With just four hits in 38 at-bats, Navarreto barely reached 100 points on his batting average after the first 13 games of the season. Then, on April 23, Brian suffered a mild knee sprain that kept him out of the lineup for 17 days. After returning from the DL, Navarreto went 0-for-9 to drop his average to.085. However, in the last seven gams, Brian has begun to center the baseball and has picked up a hit in 6-of-7 with multiple base knocks in four. Navarreto is 12-for-29 over that stretch with a double and two RBI. The 21-year old, sixth round pick in 2013 has witnessed his batting average climb above the Mendoza line for the first time this season at.211. Murphy taking advantage of unexpected promotion When Max Murphy was called into manager Jake Mauer s office in Cedar Rapids on April 27, the Twins ninth round pick in 2014 might have expected a different outcome than a promotion to Fort Myers. Murphy was hitting just.159 (10-for-63) in the Midwest League and posted just a.225 average in 2015 with the Kernels. On April 29, Murphy was in the Miracle lineup and the native of Robbinsdale, Minnesota has firmly entrenched himself in center field. Murphy began his Miracle career 4-for-22, but has caught fire at the dish. Max has earned a hit in 14 of his last 18 games and is 24-for-71 (.338) over that stretch. The Miracle will match up with FSL South teams for 18 games and an additional two (20) vs. Bradenton. Fort Myers will play eight games against all six FSL North Division teams; one home and one road four game series.
