Raced wide and without cover throughout the race. T Berry, rider of Collectively, was found guilty of a charge under AR137(a), in that near the 200m, he commenced to improve his position between Welsh Legend and Flying Mojo when there was insufficient room which resulted in Flying Mojo being crowded and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled. T Berry s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday, 25 November 2018 and to expire on Monday, 3 December 2018, on which day he may ride. Welsh Legend began awkwardly, shifted in, making contact with hindquarters of Collectively, resulting in both horses becoming momentarily unbalanced. De Valera began only fairly. Near the 450m, Black Sunrise became awkwardly placed on the heels of Battle Plane and was checked. Hard Enough raced keenly when being shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. Secret Legend when questioned, rider K McEvoy advised that he was asked to ride Secret Legend, which was up in distance tonight, prominently from its inside draw. He said that in the early stages, when he noticed that Black Sunrise, which he anticipated would lead, did not do so, he elected to take
the opportunity to allow his mount to hold the lead in the early stages, which he was able to do without having to make any use of Secret Legend. Collectively when questioned, rider T Berry said that although the filly performed below expectations, in his opinion, it was not suited by being held up approaching the home turn. He said that Collectively is advantaged by commencing to improve in its races from about the 500m, and tonight not being able to obtain comfortable racing room until the final 200m, were factors that had an impact on its ability to close its race off tonight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover. RACE 3 Canterbury Foodies Markets Handicap 1200m Zouologist - which was leaning on the near side of its barrier was slow to begin. Ausbred slow to begin. Task And Purpose from a wide barrier, was shifted behind runners in the early stages.. Jazette when questioned, rider C Brown stated that Jazette, which was having its first race tonight, explained that he had been asked to ride the filly from its wide barrier conservatively. He said that immediately on jumping, he endeavoured to shift behind runners to obtain a position with cover. He said that in the middle stages, when it became apparent that if he remained racing to the outside of Task And Purpose, he would be obliged to race wide and without cover, he elected to continue to restrain and settle in a position behind Task And Purpose at the rear of the field. He said that his mount responded to his efforts rounding the home turn and closed the race off strongly in a race that was run at a fast tempo. In the straight, Jazette raced greenly and laid out and proved somewhat difficult for C Brown to ride the filly out in his usual manner. Hostwin Supreme after obtaining the lead near the 700m, commenced to race keenly and despite the rider s efforts, continued to travel at a quick tempo. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. River Bird was held up for clear running until passing the 200m. Taniko continued to experience difficulty obtaining clear running thereafter and was shifted to the outside of Our Dasha near the 50m to improve. I Am Special began awkwardly, shifted out, making contact with Taniko. App S Weatherley explained that in the early stages his saddle shifted back. He said that when endeavouring to shift behind runners, I Am Special then attempted to buck for a short distance after the 900m. App Weatherley said his saddle shifted back further placing him at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Trainer Mr G Ryan will be advised that a warning will be recorded against I Am Special. Sebring Express was crowded on jumped between Moccasin Miss and Our Dasha, which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Moccasin Miss was bumped on the hindquarter by Sebring Express shortly after the start and became momentarily unbalanced. Wooshka when travelling wide and without cover in the early stages, was allowed to improve and ultimately lead approaching the 700m.
Spanish Dream near the 700m, had to be eased to avoid the heels of Wooshka (C Brown), which shifted in when not properly clear. C Brown was advised to exercise more care. Whiskey Shooter when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider T Clark stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in a prominent position for the major part of the race. He said that when the filly came under pressure near the 300m, it did not respond to his riding and weakened noticeably over the final 100m. He indicated that although Whiskey Shooter is only lightly raced, he formed the viewed that the filly may be better suited with its future starts more evenly spaced. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover. Co-trainer Mr A Bott agreed that Whiskey Shooter would benefit from having greater intervals in its programming. He said that Whiskey Shooter, which was second up today, had a somewhat demanding performance when it was successful at Kensington on 31 October 2018 and that effort may have flattened the filly. In all the circumstances, the Stewards deemed the performance of Whiskey Shooter to be unacceptable and ruled that the filly must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before it is permitted to race again. RACE 5 TAB Rewards Handicap 1900m Diamond Made was checked on jumping when crowded between Tunero and Danzie, both of which shifted ground. Gamblestown began awkwardly. When the pace steadied in the middle stages race, Tunero shifted out and in doing so bumped Chilli Beauty, which was carried wider. Tunero then commenced to improve and ultimately raced in a position outside the leader, Danzie, near the 700m. Approaching and passing the 50m, Tunero was buffeted between Semper Fidelis, which became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarter of Tunero, and Danzie (App J Van Overmeire), which was shifted out when under pressure. J Taylor was advised that in similar circumstances she must correct her mounts when they commence to shift ground when not clear of other runners. Waruna when questioned, rider J McDonald stated that in the early stages he was able to obtain a position slightly ahead of midfield, which was in accordance with the manner in which he had been asked to ride the mare. He said, however, that leaving the 1400m, when the tempo quickened and Hammond Lane improved, he did not believe it was not in the best interests of Waruna to attempt to improve its position at that point of the race. He added that as a result, he lost ground on Hammond Lane and this enabled Bringagem the opportunity to shift in front of him near the 1200m, which placed him in a midfield position. He further stated that when endeavouring to improve near the 500m, he shifted into a position between Bringagem and Hammond Lane, however was held up between the 400m until inside the 300m behind those tiring runners. He added that in the early part of the straight, he was obliged to continually shift out to secure clear running, which he was ultimately able to do approaching the 100m. Bringagem a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first occasion. He said that after beginning well from his wide barrier, he immediately restrained and settled at the rear of the field. He said that approaching the 500m, he elected to remain in a position behind No Interest which he believed would close the race off well as it did at its most recent start and by doing so he would also save ground. He said that although there was an opportunity for him to shift three wide to race behind Pianissimo near the 500m, he felt his mount would be better suited by pursuing runs towards the inside of the field albeit he was held up in the early part of the straight. He said however that whilst his mount was commencing to close the race off well, he experienced difficulty in obtaining clear running for the major part of the straight. Good Weather raced wide and without cover throughout the race. Profiler raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Phuket a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
