Eng Schools Senior Girls Champion and a junior international The Junior Ladies Cup This is awarded to the most promising junior lady member. Maggie Okul, in the rankings, with a 7.21m improvement this season Pauline Spick Trophy The Pauline Spick Trophy is awarded to the young female thrower with the most improved personal best performance (over 50m). The Freeborn Cup Presented to the Hammer Circle back in 1953 the award goes to the longest throw by a senior man in 2014. Nick Miller The Sedykh Programme 70m Awards Awarded to the most improved hammer thrower in Great Britain with a senior hammer. (over 60m) This year the most improved male is Taylor Campbell 69.39 with an improvement of 4.39 m. Many others improved in the 60m range this year remains a most competitive event The Hammer Circle presents a special award to mark the year in which a senior athlete first achieves the milestone of 70m. This year we have one member who has attained this distance:- Chris Shorthouse The Bard Trophy Goes to the Outstanding UK Veteran Thrower who has made a significant personal achievement Warwick Dixon British Masters M80 champion, now UK record holder at 38.67 with the 3K at the World Masters The Webb Quaich This award goes to The Volunteer of the Year This is an opportunity to reward someone who we think has done something special in 2015. Award goes to Dennis Roscoe former international DT (57.10 in 1980) coached Osian Jones to the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and the Welsh title this year. 7
The Sedykh Trophy The Sedykh Trophy was presented to the Hammer Circle on its 50 th Anniversary by World Record Holder Youri Sedykh for the Outstanding Performance of the Year Nick Miller finally broke the UK record which stood since 1984 with 77.55, and then became the first British man to make the world hammer final with 77.42 in qualifying. Nick won the European U23 title, was second in the European Team Championships and is the first world top ten ranked male UK hammer thrower since Chris Black in the 70s. The Bertram Trophy Presented to the Hammer Circle in 2002 by the late Alan Bertram for the Outstanding Performance at World Level. All previous records were broken by Sophie Hitchon 4 th in the World Championships with two UK records in the final all six throws over 71m is an outstanding, world-class achievement. The Payne Trophy Outstanding services to hammer Jack Kee. Still competing at a high level in Masters competition in the M75 category, Jack still coaches a range of fine athletes across age groups at Marshall Milton Keynes. He s been involved in athletics for nearly sixty years with MMK and previously Poly Harriers and has been coaching nearly thirty years. Former HC secretary and a well-deserved winner 8
