Hazards Identification Health: Environment: This product may cause mild irritation to the eyes and skin. This product has low volatility and so is not expected to cause respiratory tract irritation during normal conditions of use. Exposure to high mist levels in poorly ventilated areas may cause temporary irritation to the upper respiratory tract. Material contains a chemical which is a Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP), regulated by the United States Clean Air Act. 4. First-Aid Measures Inhalation: Skin Contact: Eye Contact: Ingestion: If gas/fume/vapor/dust/mist from the material is inhaled, remove the affected person immediately to fresh air. If irritation persists, get medical attention. Wash skin with soap and water. If irritation persists, get medical attention. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention. If irritation persists, get medical attention. Fire-Fighting Measures Extinguishing Media: Specific Methods: Specific Hazards: Protection of Firefighters: Dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide, water fog. Use water to cool fire-exposed containers, structures, and to protect personnel. Upon decomposition, this product emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and/or low molecular weight hydrocarbons. Upon decomposition, this product emits aldehydes. Irritating and/or toxic fumes and gases may be emitted upon the product's decomposition. Empty container(s) may retain product residue -- solid, liquid, and/or vapor -- and can be dangerous. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose such containers to heat, flame, sparks, static electricity, or other sources of ignition. They may explode and cause injury or death. Fire fighters should be equipped with NIOSH-approved, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective clothing. 6. Accidental Release Measures Personal Precautions: Environmental Precautions: Methods for Cleaning Up: In case of spills, beware of slippery floors and surfaces. Provide adequate ventilation. Do not allow the spilled product to enter public drainage system or open water courses. WATER SPILL: Remove from surface by skimming or with suitable absorbents. If allowed by local authorities and environmental agencies, sinking and/or suitable dispersants may be used in confined waters. Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Absorb the spilled material with an inert absorbent (nonflammable) material.. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection Engineering Measures: Control Parameters: Use general ventilation. If oil mist is generated, observe the OSHA exposure limit of 5 mg/m3 (TWA) and the ACGIH exposure limit of 5 mg/m3 (TWA) and the ACGIH short term exposure limit (STEL) of 10 mg/m3. Ford Motor Company recommends an exposure limit of 1.0 mg/m3. Personal Protective Equipment: Respiratory Protection: Hand Protection: Eye Protection: Skin and Body Protection: Hygiene Measures: If engineering controls do not maintain airborne concentrations to a level which is adequate to protect worker health, an approved respirator must be worn. Respirator selection, use and maintenance should be in accordance with the requirements of OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and/or Canadian Standard CSA Z94.4. Protective gloves are not normally required. Wear safety glasses with side shields. None required under normal conditions. Use good personal hygiene. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. 18539 11. Toxicological Information Inhalation: Skin Contact: Chronic (Long Term) Toxicity: Exposure to oil mist/fume/vapor may cause respiratory tract irritation. No skin irritation can be expected from single short-term exposure to this product. Prolonged or repeated contact may produce some irritation. Continuous long term contact with used motor oil has caused skin cancer in animal tests. 12. Ecological Information Ecological testing has not been conducted on this product. Ecotoxocity: The product is not expected to be toxic to aquatic organisms. 13. Disposal Considerations Waste from Residues: Contaminated Packaging: Dispose of waste material according to Local, State, Federal, and Provincial Environmental Regulation. Used oil: CAUTION - If contaminated by unburned fuel, this used crankcase oil may have a lower flashpoint than the value which is indicated above.
