Not only was he able to keep the ammunition up to the 9 th LH Regiment but was also able to dispatch 4000 rounds SAA to the 8 th ALH at a time when they required it badly. Throughout the whole operations the regimental ammunition has been under his control so at no time did a single hitch or delay occur in maintaining an ample supply in the firing line. His numerous other duties have been carried out in a manner which left nothing to be desired.

Crpl. Beard was for a long period employed on 3 rd ALH Brigade Scouts and since rejoining his unit he has at many times shown his skill in scouting, dispatch riding and bravery in action. Particularly during the recent operations on the 19 th Sept. He was the only one out of three dispatch riders that succeeded in getting his message through from the liaison officer with 4 th cavalry division to the Australian mounted Division. At Jisr Benat Yakub on Sept 27 th 1918 he performed some very daring scouting and while reconnoitring for a crossing over the Jordan river as one his work took him over open country and he became the target for many rifles at affective range for more than five minutes he carried out his work and returned and rendered an intelligent report of what he had seen.

Bleechmore, Clive Major Service No: At: Dumar & Khan Ayash Action on: 30 Sep 18 & 2 Oct 18 Date & Award Recom d: 9 Oct 18, DSO Honour/Award:No evidence found Date of London Gazette: Date of Commonwealth Of Aust Gazette: For bold, decisive action near Dumar on 30 th Sept whilst in charge of the vanguard. Again on 2-10-18 by bold leading after being ordered to seize Khan Ayash he succeeded in heading off the enemy just as they were mounting a machine gun in the Khan.
