All current Swimming/Natation Canada (SNC) rules will be followed, as well as the one-start ( no false start ) rule will apply Seeding for all swims will be optimized by distance and stroke, but otherwise random. All Events are Timed Finals. No single session shall exceed 4.5 hours in length. ELIGIBILITY: FOREIGN COMPETITORS: Swimmers registered as competitive registered swimmers with Swim Ontario, SNC, USS or FINA. A valid SNC registration number is required for all Canadian swimmers, and entries without a SNC registration number will be denied. Foreign competitors are welcome, subject to provisions below. Ages submitted are to be as of start of the meet January 23, 2015 All swimmers and coaches must be duly registered and residents of the governing body for which they are competing. All swimmers and coaches must be in good standing with their respective governing swim body. All swimmers and coaches must have primary residence within the province/state or country for which they claim registration. Proof of residency may be green card, student ID, driver s license, college residence or other document as deemed acceptable by Swim Ontario and shall be submitted with the Proof and Registration Status form to Swim Ontario. ENTRY: The qualifying period for entry to the meet is from October 1, 2013. No Time Standards on any events Swimmers will be limited to 3 individual events per session plus 1 Relay for Saturday and Sunday sessions Friday 50 s Session are allowed to enter all 4 events. ENTRY FEE: $ 6.50 for individual 50m events $10.00 for individual 100m,200m,400m events, $12.00 for 800m $12.00 for relay events, $5.00 splash fee per swimmer Please Make Cheques payable to Scarborough Swim Club ENTRY DEADLINE: Final deadline for Entries must be received by midnight Friday January 9, 2015, at which time, all entries will be considered final. This Timed Finals meet will then be final seeded. All fees will be charged based on entries submitted up to the entry deadline, regardless of whether the swimmer competes or not. The only meet package which will be considered as valid must be the most current version found on www.swimming.ca/meetlist.aspx All entries must be submitted via the www.swimming.ca/meetlist.aspx website for automatic validation. SEEDING: CONVERSION: DECK ENTRIES: Heats will be seeded slowest to fastest except in distance 800m events (will be fastest to slowest). Entries must be submitted using provable times. Entries must be submitted in short course (SC) times in metres. Seeding will be in order of times entered, as converted pursuant to the conversion process below, followed by swimmers entered with non-standard times and those entered with NT (no times) Please submit converted times using Hy-tek default conversion factor Will be accepted in empty lanes only, at the discretion on the Meet Manager, and only for swimmers already submitted and validated in the entries file, at a charge of $15.00 per event Deck entries must be made 30 minutes prior to the start of the session and will be recorded as exhibition only. Swimmer s that were not in the entries file submitted to www.swimming.ca cannot be deck entered. SCRATCH RULES: Scratches are to be made at the Clerk of Course desk 30 minutes prior to the start of each session. No scratch penalty shall be imposed for late or day of scratches
TIME SPLITS: EVENTS: AWARDS: RESULTS: The procedure for obtaining an 'Official Split' now requires that coaches make the request to the session referee or meet management on the Official Split Request form prior to the race. The split for the lead-off leg in relays will still be regarded as an official split and therefore no request by coaches is needed for relays. However, in the new 'mixed gender' relays, lead-off times/splits are not considered official splits' as per international practice. Meet management requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the commencement of the session (or event) in question. All events will be timed finals. All Relay events will be timed finals. Metals for 1st to 3rd and Ribbons for 4th to 8th for individual events and Relays Individual Awards and results will be broken out by gender and Age Group (10&under,11,12,13,14,15 & Over) Relay Awards and results will be broken out by gender and Age Group (10&under,11-12) Live Results available at www.scarswimming.ca. COACHES: HEALTH: REGULATIONS: Meet Management will be enforcing the Swimming Canada Coaches Policy whereby coaches must have and display their Swim Ontario photo ID Coaching Compliance Cards. Meet Management reserves the right to request to be shown this card at any time. Coaches not in possession of their card, and not found on any of the Swim Ontario Coaching Compliance lists will not be permitted to attend the meet. During competition, coaches are asked to coach from the coach s area and not to coach from the side or either end of the pool. Health and Pool regulations do not permit food on deck. Swimmers are asked to leave the pool Deck Coaches are requested to enforce this regulation for their team. SNC POLICY ON SWIMWEAR Effective September 1, 2009, all swimwear worn in swimming competitions sanctioned under the authority of Swimming Canada must conform to the January 1, 2010 FINA swimwear approval guidelines as listed below. MATERIAL The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of textile currently is: Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and nonconsolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding. SHAPE MEN: swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. WOMEN: swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed. USE Swimmers shall wear only one swimsuit, taping is not permitted. CONSISTENCY Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/modification for individual swimmers. 38 th Annual Cindy Nicholas at TPASC 1. All families attending Cindy Nicholas are asked to park in north parking lot. Parking cost for all day parking on the weekend is only $2.00. 2. The Cindy meet is being held in the north end of the Competition Tank, closest to the Dive Tank. TPASC opens its doors at 5:00 am, but swimmers will not be allowed to access the swim meet pool deck before 6:45 am. 3. All Swimmers should change in the northern Field-house change rooms and enter the Competition Tank through the middle doors. There are lockers in every change room available for use, if you bring your own lock. 4. All Swimmers will be seated in the East Bleachers during the meet and are asked to remain there as much as possible. Please do not allow swimmers to go under the bleachers. 5. Absolutely no parents will be allowed on deck. Parents are asked to sit in the East Gallery behind the competitor bleachers. 6. All swimmers, officials and coaches must wear indoor footwear on deck. 7. No food or drink other than water is allowed on deck. There are water bottle refill stations throughout the facility and around the pool. Absolutely no glass containers of any kind will be allowed on deck. 8. Parents with cameras and video equipment please make sure your field of view is limited to the competition pool. There will be programs running in the other half of the pool and common courtesy dictates that we avoid taking pictures/videos of individuals not competing at Cindy Nicholas.
June 27, 2014 SWIMMING CANADA COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-UP: Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited. Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm-up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-competition handout, announcement or deck signage. Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. Only one-way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted. Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warm-up. EQUIPMENT: Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-up time. Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warm-up only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-up at any time. VIOLATIONS: Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be scratched without warning from their first event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed. SAFETY MARSHALS: The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall: Be visible by safety vest Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-up tanks when pre-competition warm-ups are scheduled. Actively monitor all scheduled warm-up periods. Ensure participants comply with warm-up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee. PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION: Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in warm-ups where necessary and at the coach s discretion. The following statement must appear in all Swimming Canada sanctioned meet information and posted notices: SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET.
