3 FloridaIntrastate Highway System (FIHS) Provides for high speed and high volume traffic movements Accommodates High Occupancy Vehicles (HOVs), express bus transit, and passenger rail service. Serves interstate and regional commerce and long distance trips Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) SIS is a network of transportation hubs (rail stations, airports, ports, etc.), corridors (highways, rail lines, waterways, etc.), and connectors (highways, rail lines, transit lines, and waterways) that link select highways, railways, transit lines, and waterways with other Designated SIS hubs, corridors, and connector. Statewide and regionally significant facilities and services (STRATEGIC) Contains all forms of transportation for moving both people and goods (INTERMODAL) Integrates individual facilities, services, forms of transportation and linkage into single, integrated transportation network (SYSTEM) SIS facilities carry more than 68% of all truck traffic on the State Highway System
