TARANTELLA was built originally for RORC racing by Cantieri Carlini of Rimini. She has only ever had two caring ownerships, spending winters inside ashore at Yacht Club Italiano. From a period when racing yachts were more versatile, her interior is extremely comfortable and moreover in very chic style. It is perhaps no wonder the YCI Genoa refer to this boat as a Stradivarius. HERITAGE, VINTAGE AND CLASSIC YACHTS +44 (0)1202 330 077 SPARKMAN & STEPHENS 54 FT SLOOP 1969 Specification HISTORY TARANTELLA was built at the same time as another RORC racing yacht, PATRICIA III (design #1963) which was built by Sangermani and the boats spent a great deal of time competing against each other in the Mediterranean. Cantieri Carlini were the principal builders in Italy of S&S designs around that time however and Olin Stephens had visited the yard at an early stage in construction to modify the beam and draft slightly to accord with the impending new IOR Rules of which committee he was the President. TARANTELLA did however maintain some RORC construction features; not least her 40 mm continuous planking. Her first owner was Alberto Raffaelli who participated in most of the Mediterranean races -in many of which TARANTELLA was a winner. She was twice Champion of the Mediterranean, 1st in the Griglia race 1975, 2nd in the Griglia races 1970, 73 and 1989, 1st in the Copa del Rey 1991, and had competed in the Admiral s Cup back in 1971. She is still winning Classics, such as the Imperia 1996 and IOR Revival 2010 etc. Her current owner acquired her from Mr Raffaelli in 1993 Specification CONSTRUCTION - Mahogany planking on hardwood frames - Teak deck - Short fin keel with trim tab Specification ACCOMMODATION AND DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT - Accommodation sleeps up to 10 in 4 cabins - Helmsman s and main cockpit has bridge deck forward - Sliding hatch and companionway steps lead down to cabin spaces below - Main cabin is forward with chart table and instruments to port - Main saloon has settee berths and Pullman berths each side - Drop leaf table amidships and stowage beneath, shelves up and out board - Forward bulkhead to fore cabin with 2 pipe cot berths and separate head compartment - Coming aft portside is the galley with gimballed 3 beurner gas hob and oven - Stainless steel sink; H&C tap water - Stowage out board and below - Top loading fridge freezer - Access via doorway to aft cabins with pilot berth - Large owners cabin 1 double and 1 single berth - Ensuite head compartment with WC, shower and bidet Specification RIG SPARS AND SAILS - Original Mast - New modern boom with vang (original still held and available) - 3 x Roller genoa - 4 x Main sail - 3 x Spinnaker - Gennaker - No 1 Genoa - No 2 Genoa - Storm foresail - No 4 Genoa - Storm main sail - Trinchette - Yankee Specification DECK EQUIPMENT AND GROUND TACKLE - 15 mixed Barient and Lewmar winches - Two handled coffee grinder winch - Admiral anchor - Bruce anchor - Danforth anchor - 1 x Wooden passarelle - 1 x Aluminium passarelle - Bathing ladder - Zodiac Mk I dinghy and Johnson 5 HP outboard hardly used - Summer and winter covers for entire boat - Cockpit cushions Specification
