Success Stories The coaching staff helped me to develop massively as a player mentally, technically and physically. They gave me a professional mindset on and off the field which has really helped me achieve success. Michael Shaikly
Success Stories Michael Shaikly (Midfield/Striker) Studied BTEC Level 3 in Business Michael joined the academy in August 2013/14 as an attacking midfielder and after two successful years on our programme he was part of two league championship winning teams and broke into Maldon & Tiptree s first team. On completion of his academic studies Michael took up the opportunity to of a soccer scholarship in the USA where he joined the University of Findlay. After a successful first year Michael decided to move on to Saginaw Valley State University. Here s Michael s story: A lot has happened since I graduated from the Academy. I earned a soccer scholarship in the USA that enabled me to continue developing my football career whilst pursing a degree in Finance. The coaching staff (Kirk and Stuart) helped me to develop massively as a player mentally, technically and physically. They gave me a professional mindset on and off the field which has really helped me achieve success out here in the States. I think a huge part of it also came from playing senior football and I have them to thank for believing in me and creating such opportunities. They gave me the right guidance and encouragement that kept me on track and pushed me in the right direction. The Academy s success in developing players for senior football is clear to see as half the team I played with are now playing a high level of first team football for various clubs. My time in the USA has also seen me gain a number of awards with back-to-back all conference accolades. The first season I received the Conference Freshman of the Year, and the following season I was voted First Team All-Conference Player of the Year. As I continue developing my game the future looks even better as I am transferring to a new University where I have been rewarded with a full scholarship and the two remaining years I have my eyes firmly set on cementing a place in the MLS draft. Training and playing with the Academy was a great platform for me, and I owe them a lot in helping me progress.
