Eight of NU s 19 players are newcomers (6 freshmen and 2 transfers), tying for the most newcomers under Head Coach Rhonda Revelle (1993-present). The Husker roster features eight Nebraska natives, tying for the most in-state players since softball became an NCAA sport in 1982. Rhonda Revelle last carried a roster with eight Nebraska natives in 2009, while the 1990 and 1992 Huskers also featured eight in-state products. Thirteen players on the NU roster were either a high school or travel ball teammate with at least one fellow Husker. Six Huskers were named their state s high school player of the year, representing four different states. The Huskers who earned state high school player-ofthe-year honors include: Alicia Armstrong (Nebraska); Mattie Fowler (Arizona); Kaylan Jablonski (Nebraska); Emily Lockman (California); Cassie McClure (Texas); and Madi Unzicker (Nebraska). Three of Nebraska s four pitchers were their state s high school player of the year, including Jablonski, Lockman and McClure. Nebraska features four pitchers on its roster, marking the first time since 2009 that NU has four pitchers. The NU roster features five players who have earned all-conference honors in their careers, with all five gaining recognition every season of their careers. Those players include three-time All-Atlantic 10 honoree Steph Pasquale (at Temple), two-time All-Big Ten selections Alicia Armstrong and Emily Lockman and 2014 freshmen honorees MJ Knighten (All-Big Ten) and Cassie McClure (All-Big 12 at Texas Tech). Senior Steph Pasquale was one of 50 players nationally named to the preseason USA Softball Player of the Year watch list. She was one of 12 players nationally named to both the 2014 and 2015 watch lists. Nebraska s captains this spring are juniors Alicia Armstrong, Mattie Fowler and Kiki Stokes. Fowler is in her third season as a Husker captain, while Armstrong and Stokes are serving as captains for the first time. Sophomore Austen Urness will miss the 2015 season after undergoing knee surgery last fall. Urness, who also battled injuries in 2014, started 38 games last year and hit.274 with six doubles, four homers and 22 RBIs. Rhonda Revelle is in her 23rd season leading her alma mater in 2015. Revelle is the longest serving women s head coach in the history of Nebraska Athletics. Revelle owns 855 wins at Nebraska. She is the all-time wins leader in the history of Husker Athletics. Associate Head Coach Lori Sippel is in her 26th year at Nebraska. Sippel is the longest-tenured female assistant coach in the history of Nebraska Athletics. Revelle (1981-83) and Sippel (1985-88) also played for Nebraska. Counting their time as both a player and coach, Revelle and Sippel have been a part of 1,159 of Nebraska s 1,336 all-time victories (87 percent). Assistant coach Diane Miller rounds out the Husker coaching staff. In her seventh season, Miller has helped Nebraska s offense set more than 20 school records. Revelle, Sippel and Miller were named the Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2013 and 2014. NU is celebrating its 40th anniversary season in 2015. The Huskers shared the Big Ten regular-season championship with Michigan in 2014, Nebraska s 19th conference championship. The Huskers lost their top three statistical hitters from the 2014 lineup, a group that included a pair of two-time All-Americans and Nebraska s only three all-region hitters. Despite the losses, the Husker offense is enjoying a better start to the season than last year s decorated group. Entering play this week, NU ranked second in the Big Ten in average (.348) and third in slugging percentage (.500), on-base percentage (.431) and runs per game (6.6). Nebraska s batting average is.076 higher this season than it was through 24 games last season. The Huskers have scored 57 more runs through 24 games this season than they did a year ago, while averaging 2.4 more runs per game. The 2014 offense set a school record for RBIs. That offense produced 86 RBIs in its first 24 games, while this year s lineup has totaled 147 RBIs in its 24 games. The 2014 offense set a school record for extra-base hits. Nebraska had 45 extra-base hits through the first 24 games last season, while NU has 57 extra-base hits through the first 24 games this season. 24-GAME OFFENSIVE COMPARISON Category 2014 2015 Average.272.348 Runs 101 158 Hits 176 219 Doubles 24 36 Triples 4 3 Home Runs 17 18 Extra-Base Hits 45 57 RBIs 86 147 Slugging Pct..401.500 On-Base Pct..358.431 Walks 69 78 FOWLER & STOKES REACH MILESTONES Juniors Mattie Fowler and Kiki Stokes both reached a pair of career milestones against Boise State on March 13. Fowler picked up her 100th career hit against the Broncos, joining Stokes, Alicia Armstrong and Steph Pasquale as Huskers with 100 career hits. Stokes scored the 100th run of her career against Boise State, becoming the only current Husker with 100 career runs scored. STOKES DOING IT ALL Junior Kiki Stokes has collected hits, drawn walks, scored runs, hit homers, stolen bases and produced RBIs as Nebraska s leadoff hitter for all 24 games this season. Stokes leads Nebraska in average (.444), hits (32), runs (29), doubles (6), home runs (6), stolen bases (7), RBIs (23), walks, (13), total bases (58), slugging percentage (.806) and on-base percentage (.549). Stokes ranks second on the team in triples (1) and hitby-pitches (5). Stokes is third in the Big Ten in runs scored and on-base percentage, fourth in average and slugging percentage and sixth in home runs and total bases. Stokes is threatening to become the first Husker since Ali Viola in 1998 to hit.400 in a season. Stokes is currently on pace to challenge Tobin Echo- Hawk s record batting average of.439 in 1994. In a 56-game regular season, Stokes is on pace to score 68 runs, which would break Tobin Echo-Hawk s record of 61 runs scored in 1996. In a 56-game regular season, Stokes is on pace to finish with 75 hits, a total that would rank sixth in school history. Stokes six home runs are a career high. She has homered six times in 24 games this season after producing six home runs in 122 career games entering this spring. Stokes has six doubles this season after entering the year with just seven career doubles. Stokes 23 RBIs are one shy of her career high from 2014. 2015 NEBRASKA RECORD BREAKDOWN Overall 12-12 Non-Conference 12-12 Big Ten Conference 0-0 Home 1-0 Neutral 11-6 Road 0-6 Night Games 2-3 Day Games 10-9 Sunday 2-4 Monday 0-0 Tuesday 0-0 Wednesday 1-0 Thursday 0-0 Friday 4-3 Saturday 5-5 vs. Ranked Opponents 1-4 vs. Unranked Opponents 11-8 Extra Innings 0-0 1-Run Games 0-2 When Out-Hitting Opponent 12-1 When Out-Hit by Opponent 0-8 When Scoring First 9-4 When Opponent Scores First 3-8 When Scoring in the First Inning 5-2 When Scoring Fewer than 3 Runs 0-9 When Scoring 5 or More Runs 11-2 When Scoring 10 or More Runs 8-2 When Allowing Fewer Than 3 Runs 6-0 When Allowing 5 or More Runs 1-9 When allowing 10 or More Runs 0-6 When Leading After Five Innings 6-0 When Leading After Six Innings 4-0 When Trailing After Five Innings 1-9 When Trailing After Six Innings 0-8 When Tied After Five Innings 0-0 When Tied After Six Innings 0-0 When Committing 0 Errors 5-4 When Committing 2 or More Errors 2-4 2014 BIG TEN REGULAR-SEASON CO-CHAMPIONS

Lockman is the fourth NU pitcher to enter her junior year as a two-time all-conference honoree, and the previous three all ended their careers as All-Americans. Lockman s 1.93 career ERA entering 2015 ranked 22nd nationally among all 2015 pitchers who had thrown at least 200.0 innings. Among pitchers from a Power Five conference (ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC), Lockman s ERA was the fourth-lowest. PASQUALE AMONG NATION S TOP HITTERS Senior Steph Pasquale has been one of the nation s most productive hitters in her career. Pasquale starred at Temple from 2011 to 2015, missing all but 12 games last season. She earned a medical hardship for the 2014 season and was granted a fifth year of eligibility. Pasquale transferred to Nebraska after Temple cut softball. At Temple, Pasquale was a three-time all-conference performer, a two-time all-region selection and a 2013 third-team All-American. Pasquale was named to both the 2014 and 2015 USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List. She was one of 12 players nationally named to both the 2014 and 2015 watch lists. In her last full season in 2013, Pasquale batted.465 with 21 doubles, 15 homers and 80 RBIs. She led the nation in RBIs per game and was also the nation s toughest player to strike out, fanning only three times in 209 plate appearances (187 at bats). PASQUALE AMONG ALL ACTIVE DIVISION I HITTERS Doubles: t-7th (48) RBIs: 17th (161) ARMSTRONG PRODUCING HITS Alicia Armstrong has been a hit machine in her career. Armstrong s 149 career hits are 30 more than any other Husker has produced at Nebraska. Armstrong led Nebraska with 62 hits as a freshman in 2013, then battled through a painful back injury to produce 55 hits in 2014. Armstrong has produced 10 multi-hit efforts in 24 games this season, including four three-hit games. In her career, Armstrong has totaled 32 multi-hit games, including 13 three-hit efforts. Armstrong is 1 of 9 players in school history to produce 100 career hits before their junior season. Armstrong is 1 of 5 players in school history to total at least 55 hits as both a freshman and a sophomore. Armstrong s 117 hits were the sixth-most any Husker had recorded entering her junior season. SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE (15-12) Michigan State enters Big Ten Conference play with a 15-12 overall record. The Spartans went 3-2 last week at the Mercer Tournament, defeating Alabama A&M twice and Youngstown State once, while falling twice to Mercer. MSU lost its final six Big Ten games last season, including a three-game Nebraska sweep in East Lansing. Offensively, Michigan State is batting.262 as a team while averaging 4.0 runs per game. The Spartans scored a season-high 12 runs in their last game against Alabama A&M. MSU has also stolen 37 bases in only 40 attempts. In the circle, Michigan State boasts a 3.43 ERA and allows an average of 3.7 runs per game. The Spartans have tossed four shutouts this season, and MSU boasts a strikeout-to-walk ratio of nearly 2-to-1.
