No. 5 Florida, No. 8 Illinois, No. 17 UNLV and No. 19 Auburn are in the top 25. ADVANCING TO THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP The top five teams and one individual not on those teams qualify for the 121st NCAA Men s Golf Championship at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., May 26-31. Auburn is the No. 4 seed in the NCAA West Lafayette Regional. Sugar Grove, Ill., is 46 miles west of Chicago. AUBURN AT THE NCAA REGIONAL The Tigers are making their 26th overall appearance in the last 28 years as eighth-year head coach Nick Clinard has led the Tigers to eight-straight NCAA Regional appearances. Last season, Auburn advanced to the NCAA Championship by finishing fifth at the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional behind Will Long s tie for 10th at 1-under and Jacob Solomon s and Michael Johnson s tie for 14th at even par. Auburn has advanced to the NCAA Championship five consecutive seasons and 21 overall. The Tigers have won two Regionals, the 1990 NCAA East Regional in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the 1997 NCAA East Regional in The Homestead, Va. Auburn has one individual NCAA Regional medalist in Jimmy Green in 1990. ONE OF ONLY SEVEN Auburn is one of only seven teams to make five consecutive NCAA Championship appearances with Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Oklahoma, Southern California and Texas. AGAINST THE FIELD THIS SEASON The Tigers have faced seven teams in the NCAA Regional, compiling a 6-7 (.462) mark. Auburn s record against the field: UNLV (1-0), Purdue (1-0), Richmond (1-0), Florida (1-1), Saint Mary s (1-1), South Carolina (1-3) and Colorado (0-2). GOLF COURSE The Kampen Course, a Pete Dye design, is an 18-hole, links-style, par-72 championship golf course featuring large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with vast sand bunkers, native grasslands, ponds and a natural celery bog. Kampen offers five sets of tees with the championship tees playing over 7,400 yards and the forward tees playing at 5,300 yards. Kampen is rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and has been awarded 4.5 stars on Golf Digest s Places to Play. Kampen receives high marks as it is ranked as one of the most difficult golf courses in Indiana. The course has also played host to a number of prestigious collegiate and public tournaments such as the 2000 Men s Big Ten Championship, the 2003 Women s NCAA Championship, the 2004 Indiana Open, the 2005 Women s Western Amateur and the 2008 Men s NCAA Championship. WEATHER The weather for Sunday s practice round is 65/44 and sunny, wind NNW 12 mpg; Monday s first round is 69/50 and 50% afternoon showers, wind N 12 mph; Tuesday s second round is 72/52, 60% morning showers, win N 10 mph; and Wednesday s final round is 67/49 and partly cloudy, win 9 mph. ALL-SEC TIGERS Two Auburn golfers received All-SEC honors as sophomore Trace Crowe was named to the All-SEC second-team and senior Matt Gilchrest was a SEC Men s Golf Community Service Team selection. WINNING WAYS Since 2009 when Nick Clinard took the helm, Auburn has won 25 team titles including four wins this season at the Inverness Intercollegiate, Jerry Pate National, Tiger Invitational and Gary Koch Invitational. He has coached the Tigers to eight wins in the last two seasons alone. Under Clinard s tutelage, Auburn has had 27 individual medalists including Trace Crowe this year at the Gary Koch Invitational.

AS THE CROWE FLYS Sophomore Trace Crowe was named to the All-SEC second team with a team-best 70.96 stroke average. He won his first career tournament at the Gary Koch Invitational with pair of 66s in the final two rounds to finish 9-under. The Bluffton, S.C., native tied for fourth in the Tiger Invitational at 7-under. BIG EASY 2 True freshman Jovan Rebula, a nephew of Ernie Els, has followed the recent trend of Clinard-coached freshmen to have outstanding seasons. Following Ben Schlottman and Jacob Solomon, Rebula, has a 72.03 stroke average. The George, South Africa, native has earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors twice, first following an eighth-place finish at the Tiger Invitational and then following a top five finish at the Gary Koch Invitational. He has three top 10 finishes this season. IN THE SPOTLIGHT Several Tigers were named finalists or to prestigious award watch lists throughout the season. Senior Matt Gilchrest is one of five finalists for the Byron Nelson Award. Fellow senior Will Long was named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List and was ranked in both the fall and spring Palmer Cup rankings. Gilchrest, along with sophomore Trace Crowe were also in consideration for the Palmer Cup. RYAN BENTON, NO. 11 AUBURN RUNNERS-UP AT CARPET CAPITAL COLLEGIATE Senior Ryan Benton finished a shot back in a three-way tie for second to lead No. 11 Auburn men s golf to a runner-up finish at 25-under in the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm Golf Club. Benton was 10-under. Benton, who finished a shot behind Georgia Tech s Luke Schniederjans after entering the final round tied, had three birdies on Nos. 3, 9 and 11 and tied with Virginia s Derek Bard and North Florida s Phillip Knowles. Senior Will Long tied for ninth at 7-under 209 with a final round 3-under 69. The Gastonia, N.C., native recorded five birdies. Sophomore Trace Crowe, competing as an individual, fired a 5-under 67 to finish 6-under 210 in a tie for 11th. NO. 11 AUBURN WINS INVERNESS INTERCOLLEGIATE No. 11 Auburn men s golf won the Inverness Intercollegiate carding a 2-under 282 for a final score of 9-under 843 at the Inverness Club. The Tigers (280-281-282 843) defeated No. 23 Duke (277-281-288 846) by three strokes. Senior Will Long finished third at 3-under 73-68-69 210, one stroke behind co-medalists Nick Carlson of Michigan (69-73- 67 209) and Jake Shuman of Duke (70-71-68 209). The Gastonia, N.C., native had four birdies on the back nine in the final round on Nos. 13, 15, 17 and 18. Seniors Matt Gilchrest and Ryan Benton were part of a five-way tie for fourth a shot back at 2-under. Gilchrest (64-72-75 211), a two-time All-SEC performer, held the lead after the first two rounds after carding the second-lowest round in school history with his opening round 64. Benton (69-72-70 211), a native of Dothan, Ala., closed out his tournament with a 1-under 70 final round with birdies on Nos. 5, 6, 13 and 18. NO. 2 AUBURN WINS JERRY PATE NATIONAL INTERCOLLEGIATE No. 2 Auburn men s golf won the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, carding a 2-over 282 at the Old Overton Club for a final even par 840. The Tigers have won two-straight tournaments with the Inverness Intercollegiate and were runner-up at the Carpet Capital Collegiate. Auburn (284-274-282 840) held off UNLV (283-284-274 841) to win by one stroke. Senior Will Long led the way for the Tigers for the second consecutive tournament, tying for fifth at 2-under 70-70-68 208. The Gastonia, N.C., native carded three birdies as part of a near bogey-free final round. It is Long s second top-five finish in as many tournaments. Freshman Jovan Rebula finished a shot back of Long at 1-under 68-68- 73 209 to tie for eighth. The George, South Africa, native had four birdies in the final round on Nos. 3, 8, 15 and 16. All-American junior Ben Schlottman delivered a 1-under 69 final round to tie for ninth at even-par 70-71-69 210. All-SEC senior Matt Gilchrest led the Tigers at 3-under 72-71-70 213 to t-13th. The Southlake, Texas, native birdied threestraight on the back nine on Nos. 12-14 to finish the day at 2-under. NO. 17 AUBURN WINS TIGER INVITATIONAL No. 17 Auburn Men s Golf won the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner, carding a 4-under 284 in the final round at the Grand National Lakes Course to finish at 13-under 279-288-284 851. The Tigers held off a late surge by Troy, who carded a 10-under 278 and finished at 280-299-278 856, to win by five strokes. Sophomore Trace Crowe carded a 7-under 67-72-70 209 to t-4th. The Bluffton, S.C., native tallied six birdies as part of his 2-under final round on Nos. 1, 4, 5, 12, 14 and 17. It his best finish of the season and his fourth top 25 finish this season. Freshman Jovan Rebula finished two shots back to t-8th for the second time this season. The George, South Africa, product carded a 2-under 70 with seven birdies on Nos. 1, 5 and 7 on the front and 11, 12, 14 and 16 on the back in the final round to finish at 5-under 69-72-70 211. Sophomore Trace Crowe won medalist honors for the first time this season at 9-under 75-66-66 207 as four Tigers finished in the top-10. Auburn defeated North Carolina State (276-288-290 854) by eight strokes. It is the Tigers fourth win of the season following the Inverness Intercollegiate, Jerry Pate National and the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner, and ties the mark from last season. Crowe, a native of Bluffton, S.C., carded a 6-under 66 in the final round, tying his career-low set just one round prior. His round consisted of four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 1. He tallied 11 birdies and an eagle as opposed to just four bogeys over 54 holes. It is Crowe s first individual win of the season and the second of his career. Corey Maggard Associate Head Coach Third Season Alma Mater: Transylvania (2008) Corey Maggard is in his third season at Auburn under head coach Nick Clinard, and his first as Associate Head Coach in 2016-17. The Tigers had the fourth best NCAA Championship finish in school his- tory by finishing 12th in 2015 in his first season. Maggard is a finalist for the Jan Strick- land Award for the National Assistant Coach of the Year this year as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America and was a semifinalist in 2016. Auburn, which finished tied for 19th at the NCAA Championship, won four tour- naments in 2015-16 including the Carpet Capital Collegiate, U.S. Collegiate Championship, Mobile Sports Authority Intercol- legiate and the Seminole Intercollegiate while finishing as runner-up in four oth- ers. The Tigers had five medalists with Mi- chael Johnson winning three, the Primland Collegiate, Mobile Sports Authority Inter- collegiate and the Schenkel Invitational. Freshman Graysen Huff won the ASU Fall Beach Classic while Will Long was comedalist at the U.S. Collegiate Champion- ship. Michael Johnson was named first-team All-SEC and was a semifinalist for both the Jack Nicklaus Award and Ben Hogan Award and was on the Haskins Award Watch List. Jacob Solomon was a Fresh- man All-SEC selection in 2016. Johnson and Solomon were both named to the PING All-Southeast Region team. Auburn won three consecutive tourna- ments with three straight medalists, all different, in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, Tiger Invitational Pre- sented by Jason Dufner and the Schenkel Invitational in 2014-15. Ben Schlottman was named Golfweek honorable mention All-American, the first freshman in school history to receive All- America honors. Five Tigers were named to the NCAA All-Southeast Region team as No. 1 Illi- nois and No. 2 Texas were the only three schools in the nation to have five players named NCAA All-Region. Schlottman and Matt Gilchrest were both named first-team All-SEC while Michael Johnson was a second-team selec- tion. Schlottman also became the first Auburn freshman to be named All-SEC first-team in history while also being tabbed SEC Freshman of the Year. Auburn destroyed the school s team single-season stroke average record by av- eraging 283.23 strokes per round in 2015 with the previous mark being 285.30 set in 2011-12. In fact, Clinard-coached teams have the four lowest averages in Tiger his- tory. Schlottman recorded the fourth lowest single season stroke average in school his- tory and set the Auburn freshman record averaging 70.96. Auburn climbed to being ranked fourth nationally in 2014-15 after winning two consecutive tournaments in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate and the Tiger Invitational Presented by Jason Dufner by 28 shots, the largest margin of vic- tory in school history. Auburn then won the Schenkel Invitational at 41-under, edging No. 5 Vanderbilt by a stroke, for its third-straight win. Prior to coming to Auburn in 2014-15, Maggard won four-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships in his four years as head men s golf coach at Div. III Guilford College. Maggard, who led Guilford to 16 tourna- ment wins in his four seasons, was named the Jack Jensen ODAC Coach of the Year three-straight seasons from 2011-13. Guil- ford spent time ranked No. 1 in the nation by Golf World and in the Golfstat.com rankings in 2011 and 2012 as the Quak- ers finished ninth at the 2011 NCAA Div. III Championship, 11th in 2012 and 17th in both 2013 and 2014. Guilford s Noah Ratner was selected a three-time first-team PING All-American and ODAC Golfer of the Year from 2011-13 and received the 2012 Jack Nicklaus Award as the Div. III National Player of the Year. Maggard coached three All-Americans and had 11 golfers earn 18 All-ODAC awards, including Tanner Gross, who was a second-team PING All-American in 2014 and won the Golf Coaches Association of America s Phil Mickelson Award as Div. III s top rookie. Prior to Guilford, Maggard spent two seasons as the assistant golf coach at Transylvania under Brian Lane. He was one of 10 semifinalists for the GCAA s 2010 Jan Strickland Award, which is given annually to the assistant from all levels in college golf who excels in working with student-athletes on the course and in the classroom. Transylvania won the Heartland Colle- giate Athletic Conference title and earned the league s automatic bid to the NCAA Div. III Tournament in 2009 and 2010. The Pioneers featured the HCAC s top golfer both seasons and had nine all-conference selections during his coaching tenure. Maggard was a four-year letterman at Transylvania from 2005-08, was a three- time All-HCAC selection and helped lead the Pioneers to the HCAC Championship and a pair of NCAA Championship ap- pearances in 2007 and 2008. He was the runner-up at the 2006 HCAC Tournament while finishing third as both a junior and senior. The London, Ky., native won the 2007 Anderson Spring Invitational and the 2005 Transylvania Spring Invitational and served four years on the student-athlete advisory committee. Maggard spent four years as an assis- tant golf professional at the Man O War Golf Learning Center in Lexington, Ky., and is a Level Two Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Professional and Power Coach. He also worked as a golf op- erations assistant at the Gulf Stream Golf Club in Delray Beach, Fla. Maggard earned his B.A. degree in busi- ness management from Transylvania in 2008. He is married to the former Katie Young of Lexington, Ky.
