Tee Off Time 15 From the President by Bobbie Hopp, President Iam happy to announce that Johnna Rathje will be staying on as our Managing Director. She will be on staff through October at which time NWAGA will need to determine if we can continue to support the position. She accepted the position on February 23rd. I have asked her to share her cell phone number so that she can be contacted Saturday and Sundays due to withdrawals and tournament concerns. I would expect these calls to be limited in nature with all other calls being received during business hours. We are fortunate to have Johnna as she has been doing an excellent job and is excited about serving NWAGA members. This will be my final letter to you as president. I will finish up my three-year term at the fall meeting. It has been an honor to represent this organization throughout the state, and I want to thank you all for your support and loyalty. Every member of NWAGA is a valuable asset, and I urge you to stay involved and encourage your friends to join this great organization. I also want to thank my board and committee members for their work, advice and counsel. We had ambitious goals and their support is immeasurable. The NGA has also been instrumental in our success. Craig Ames and Justin Ahrens are very professional and are always willing to support us. We especially appreciate sharing their office. On A Mission It would be impossible for me to finish my term as president of NWAGA without reflecting back some 35 years ago when Mary Walley and Dorothy Swartzkopf had a vision of what women s golf in Nebraska could be. Our past represents a strong group of women who, without the benefit of high school or college competition, had a love of the game and set their own standards. They became our state champions, hall of famers and founders of NWAGA. As I look to the future, I see an infusion of high school and collegiate stars that are also very determined and have the potential to keep this organization both strong and competitive for years to come. As I view the present, I see a group of women who will provide the link between the generations to ensure the strength of this organization and carry on its traditions. They have the responsibility of mentoring our young golfers and demonstrating the leadership skills that are necessary to carry on NWAGA s traditions. I want to express my gratitude to all the past presidents who filled this spot while I played golf and to the founders that made it all possible. It's been a great trip and I'm hoping for a smooth landing. See you on the links, Bobbie The NWAGA Board and office are on a technology mission! Our aim is to get as many member s email addresses as possible and add them to the database. Last year we introduced online sign up for our tournaments, which was quite successful. Now we have a new goal: to communicate electronically with members. Don t worry though for those who do not do email, we aren t giving up snail mail YET. Send your email addresses to: nwaga@nebgolf.org.
