2014-15 TRYOUT/PRACTICE INFORMATION GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY - Head Coach: Maureen Levanti Wednesday, August 13th 8:00-10:00 Meet on track - practice for all Girls Cross Country athletes. Thursday, August 14th 7:00-9:00 am Meet on track Friday, August 15th 7:00-9:00am Meet on the track Saturday, August 16th 7:00-9:00am Meet on the track Come to practice prepared to run with attire appropriate to the weather, running shoes and bring a water bottle. All athletes are expected to be at all practices and to report in good physical condition ready to practice. BOYS' GOLF - Head Coach: John Rueth Monday August 11 th All Freshman and Sophomore boys must report to Room 2004/2006 in the west building (near the athletic office) @ 9:00 a.m. for the rules, etiquette and tryout procedures meeting. All players must have all forms and physical turned into the athletic office before this date. The meeting will last about two hours and cover the tryout procedures, rules of golf and etiquette and requirements for making the Boys golf team. Tuesday August 12 th Play and practice on your own. All players must have their Participation form and Certificate of Child Health Examination form into the Athletic Department by August 12 th. Any player not having the forms completed by this time will not be allowed to participate in tryouts. Wednesday August 13 th All players report to Crane s Landing Golf Course (Marriott) for the first round of tryouts. Seniors and Juniors will play first, followed by Sophomores and Freshman; the first tee time is 7:00 a.m. The cost of the round will be $30.00; it will be free if you have a junior pass at Crane s Landing. All players will play from the white tees. Thursday August 14 th Senior and Junior players making the 1 st cut will report to the Arboretum Golf Club @ 3:00 pm for the 2 nd round of tryouts. The cost to all players is $26.00, and free to those players having an Arboretum junior pass. All Sophomores and Freshman making the 1 st cut will report to Crane s Landing Golf Course for the 2 nd round of tryouts starting @ 6:35 a.m. The cost for the round will be $30.00. Friday August 15 th All players making the first two cuts will report to the Arboretum starting @ 6:30 a.m. Tee times will be based on scores from the first two days. The cost of the round is $26.00. A third cut will be made at the conclusion of the round. Dress Code Players may wear long pants, or walking shorts of knee length. A collared shirt is necessary. NO JEANS!! Soft spikes are required for those wearing golf shoes. All players must walk; no power riding carts allowed. You must provide your own transportation to and from the tryout courses. A shuttle bus for practice will be available beginning August 20 th for players making the team. In order for a freshman or sophomore to have a strong possibility of making the first two cuts, they should be able to shoot around 100 at the Crane s Landing Golf Course. Shooting around 100 does not guarantee a player will make the team. This is only a guideline based on several years of tryout statistics. Junior Memberships Both the Arboretum and Crane s Landing golf course offer Junior Memberships. Arboretum junior membership is $500 resident and $600 non- resident and you can play Monday through Thursday. Crane s Landing junior membership is $350 and you can play anytime Monday through Thursday and after 4:30 Friday through Sunday.

GIRLS GOLF - Head Coach: Tom Dineen Wednesday, August 13th: Marriott s Crane s Landing Golf Course Report time is 8:30 am Varsity 18 holes with green fees of $30 concluding at 2:00pm Junior Varsity 9 holes with green fees of $15 concluding at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 14th: Marriott s Crane s Landing Golf Course Report time is 8:30 am Varsity 9 holes with green fees of $15 concluding at 2:00pm Junior Varsity 9 holes with green fees of $15 concluding at 1:00 pm Friday, August 15th: Vernon Hill s Golf Course Report at 8:00 am Varsity and JV 9 holes with green fees of $14 Player meeting to follow with all activities to conclude by 12:30pm All players must provide their own transportation to and from all practice rounds. A shuttle bus for practice will be available beginning August 20th. All physicals and athletic forms must be turned into the Athletic Office by Thursday, August 7. BOYS' SOCCER - Head Coach: Mark Schartner Practices for Freshmen & Sophomores begin on August 13th, 8:00 10:00 am. Meet on the west side of the multi purpose sport courts/north side of the D parking lot. Equipment needed water, t-shirt, shorts and soccer flats & cleats & running shoes, shin guards and a soccer ball. All (Jr. & Sr.) Varsity players will meet August 13th, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 (noon) at the VHAC Fields. Equipment needed water, t-shirt, shorts and soccer flats & cleats & running shoes, shin guards and a soccer ball. GIRLS' SWIMMING - Head Coach: Karl Milkereit Girls Diving Coach: Don Carmichael Practice begins on August 13th. All swimmers and divers are expected to be at ALL the practices as scheduled below. Equipment needed: swim suit and towel/sammy for all. Swimmers must come with goggles, cap, running shoes, athletic shorts, and a t-shirt. All athletes are expected to report in good physical condition ready to practice. All Swimmers and Divers: August 13 3:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

GIRLS' TENNIS - Head Coach Tom Stanhope Tryouts begin on Wednesday, August 13th at the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex according to the following schedule: August 13 th All Freshman & Sophomores tryouts 9-10:30 am August 14 th All Juniors & Seniors and possibly some invited underclassmen 9-10:30 am August 15 th Tryouts continue for All Freshman & Sophomores and possibly some invited upperclassmen 9-10:30 am August 16 th Tryouts continue for All Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors 9-10:30 am Tryouts end on the 16 th. The first practice will be Monday, August 18th 3:45-6:00pm Equipment needed - tennis shoes, shirts, shorts/skirts and racket. Athletes must bring their own water bottles and towels. You must provide your own transportation to the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex for tryouts. A shuttle bus from campus to VHAC begins August 20 th. GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL - Head Coach: Tim Crow Volleyball tryouts will take place on August 13 th, 14 th and 15 th. All participants are expected to be at ALL the appropriate tryouts as scheduled below. All candidates should wear shorts, t-shirt and suitable shoes. Kneepads should also be worn. Bring a snack, drink, or water bottle. TRYOUT SCHEDULE August 13, 14, 15 Freshmen 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sports Center August 13, 14, 15 So, Jr., Sr. 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm Sports Center GIRLS FIELD HOCKEY - Head Coach: Laura Husko Tryouts begin Wednesday, August 13th. All sessions will be held at Stevenson's turf stadium. Participants are expected to be at ALL applicable sessions. Players must arrive at least 15 minutes early for check-in. Equipment needed: Running shoes, playing cleats, tall shin guards, field hockey stick, ASTM qualified goggles, moldable mouth guard (cannot be clear or white), water, white t-shirt and dark colored t-shirt (or reversible pinnie). BOY'S HOCKEY - Head Coach: Jim Wood Tryouts will be held at Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion in Buffalo Grove. All registration information and instructions will be provided at the website www.stevensonhockey.org. In order to tryout you must be registered on this website by noon Friday 8/22/14 and have turned in all the required forms to the Athletic Department. Tryouts: Saturday, August 23rd - 12:00 pm -1:30 pm A-L 1:40 pm- 3:10 pm M-Z Sunday, August 24th - 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm (List will be posted) 1:40 pm - 3:10 pm (List will be posted) Tuesday, August 26 th - 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm (List will be posted) 8:40 pm -10:10 pm (List will be posted) Thursday, August 28 h - 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm (List will be posted) 8:40 pm - 10:10 pm (List will be posted) The group breakdowns will be determined by the coaches and will be posted at the rink after the last session each day. Full hockey equipment is REQUIRED. Cost for tryouts will be $240.00. The Hockey season will run from September through the beginning of March. Practices will be held two to three times per week on ice for both JV and Varsity. Tentative schedules for practices are Monday and Thursday nights, and Fridays immediately after school. League games are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Fall athletes may tryout for the hockey team, but should coordinate tryout dates and times with their fall coaches to attend hockey practices. Winter athletes are prohibited from playing ice hockey and another sport. Preseason Conditioning Clinics Sundays, August 3 rd, 10 th, 17 th - 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Tuesdays, August 5 th, 12 th, 19 th - 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm Thursdays, August 7 th, 14 th, 21 st - 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm Cost for all nine clinics is $250.00 (no refunds for missed sessions) or $35 per session. Cost for Goaltenders is $120.00 for all nine sessions (no refunds for missed sessions) or $20 per session.
