March Magic Hoopfest Stats What is Hoopfest? March Magic Hoopfest is an interactive basketball playground for children of all ages and is the only one of its kind in the state of Michigan. Key events and activities include: Free Play: Eight stations of free play provide participants with opportunities to get active. Jumpball Jamboree: Forty teams from throughout the state participate in friendship games during Hoopfest. A Wheelchair Basketball Ehibition: Everyone is welcome at Hoopfest, and there are events created for those of all abilities. Non-wheelchair users are encouraged to participate. Learning From the Legends Youth Clinic: Over 200 participants are given the opportunity to learn from wellrespected basketball legends. Health and Wellness Field Trips: Students spend the day being mentored by a former athlete, completing stations pertaining to healthy living and engaging in fun, physical activities. When and Where? March Magic Hoopfest is held in conjunction with the MHSAA Boys Basketball Semi Finals and Finals, and will fall this year on March 26-28, 2015. The event will be held in Michigan State University s historic Jenison Field House. Who Attends? March Magic Hoopfest attracts approimately 12,000 attendees from across the state throughout the three day event. One of the largest draws is from Eaton, Ingham and Clinton counties, yet approimately 200 Michigan cities are represented. Attendees include; 40 youth basketball teams, 300 local students as an educational field trip, 200 participants of the free youth basketball clinic, MHSAA Basketball Championships ticket holders, local residents and other out-of-town visitors. Why Should I be a? Hoopfest is more than just a basketball event, and it certainly has more benefits than an average sponsorship. Yes, supporting Hoopfest would provide valuable publicity and perks for your business, but more importantly it would mean an open door to impact area youth. As sedentary lifestyles, obesity and poor nutrition among kids increase, the need for positive, encouraging influences also needs to increase. Hoopfest seeks to make a difference in our area by encouraging healthy living, active lifestyles and teamwork in a way that is approachable and fun for kids. By sponsoring Hoopfest, you are not only receiving the ability to share a message of health to open ears, but you are helping to support the bigger picture of a creating a healthier future for generations to come. Who is Hoopie? Hoopie is the official mascot of Hoopfest. His main goal is to provide kids with fun, practical ways to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. To complete his mission, and to promote the event, Hoopie makes several appearances during Hoopfest and throughout the year.
