Participants work together in small groups facilitated by a trained Y lifestyle coach to achieve the program goals of reducing an individual s weight by 5-7% and building up to 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week. The goal is to develop participants as a young theatrical leaders in an inclusive and supportive environment by producing a dramatic production for families & friends at the end of the 8 week session. FALL 2 AQUATICS SWIM LESSON SELECTOR STAGE A WATER DISCOVERY Stage A introduces infants and todlers to the aquatic environment. STAGE B WATER EXPLORATION In Stage B, parents work with their children to learn fundmental safety and aquatic skills. STAGE 1 WATER ACCLIMATION Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit the pool. STAGE 2 WATER MOVEMENT Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water. STAGE 3 WATER STAMINA Students learn how to swim to safely from a longer distance. Rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg actions are introduced. STAGE 4 STROKE INTRODUCTION Students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. STAGE 5 STROKE DEVELOPMENT Students work on stroke technique in all major competitive strokes. STAGE 6 STROKE MECHANICS Students refine stroke tecnique in all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle. Friday, October 26 6:00-8:00pm HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR Join us in the gymnasium as we transform the Gleason Family YMCA into a Pirate Party with a hunt for Halloween bounty. Pirates, princess, mermaids, zombies & landlubbers are invited aboard this family fun event that will be held in the gymnasium. Costumes are optional, but we hope you will dig one out! Members: FREE Program Participants: $1 or canned good donation THANKSGIVING TURKEY & TRIMMINGS PROGRAM Creating a happy and abundant holiday for the many families needing help this Thanksgiving. The food drive runs 10/29 through 11/18 and distribution of the turkey & trimmings will be Monday, 11/19 from 1-7pm. Donations of non-perishable items welcomed: canned fruit/vegetables, gravy, broth, stuffing, mac-n-cheese and aluminum roasting pans.
