TONIGHT'S STARTER: LHP Madison Bumgarner (16-6, 2.97) finished the month of August with a 5-0 record, a 1.43 ERA (6er, 37.2ip) and 53 strikeouts in five starts...according to Elias, Bumgarner became one of just three Giants pitchers with a record of 5-0 or better and at least 50 strikeouts in a calendar month...jason Schmidt went 5-0 with 54 strikeouts in May 2004 (1.53 ERA) and Juan Marichal went 6-0 with 60 strikeouts in Sept. 1963 (2.10 ERA). MORE ON MADISON: Bumgarner, who enters tonight's game with the second-most wins of any NL pitcher with 16, will be seeking to win six consecutive starts for the first time in his career...he's also just two wins shy of matching his career-high in a season (18 in 2014).
