The WARBLER will keep you up to date with Club News, Events and happenings Direct From the clubrooms at Magpie Park as well as some other special inclusions. Port win the Phillips/Freeman Cup AT LAST THE WAIT IS OVER. Finally at 5.30 pm on Saturday 4 th march 2017 Eric Freeman raised the Phillips/Freeman cup for the first time since its inception in 1996/97 The closest Port had been to winning before was in January 2015 when the match ended in a tie with both teams scoring 160 runs. Nick Benton took 5/78 in that game. In the match just completed Port scored 6 declared /304 on day one and then bowled Sturt out for 200 on day 2. For Port Shane Chatto made his maiden A Grade hundred (115*) and had a partnership of 118 with Damon Kerr who scored 72, This was to be a turning point in the game. On day 2 Sturt were bowled out for 200 with Benton being the destroyer taking 5/28 from 19 overs with the highlight being 3 wickets in one over. All players must be congratulated for sticking to their task when at times it looked as though it could slip away, Well done boys on a wonderful effort. The last time Port was successful in defeating Sturt was on the 9 th December 1995 when they actually lost on the first innings but then rose to the task and won Outright. Scores in that game were Port 119 and 207 defeated Sturt 5dec/144 and 129. Wicket takers in Sturts 2 nd innings were D.Angove 3/23 and M.Harritty 3/35. NOW FOR THE FINALS GO THE MAGPIES. Regards Tregers

Things can only get better with Plenty of Positives at the Port. Proposed Merger Squashed & SACA approving Port as a standalone Club. Great News with a new Iconic Sporting facility and redevelopment at Port Reserve in the early stages of planning. Mens & Women s Teams in this seasons finals Men winning the One Day Cup Semi & our Women s first grade only 15 runs off playing in the T20 G/F Some great junior programs in place and some exciting signs from our juniors. The local council doing a great job down at Port Reserve and the club receiving great support from our local community. PACC will continue to field teams in: Mens First, Second, Third & Fourth Grades. Women s First and Second Grades. Under 16reds, Under 16 whites, Under 14reds & Under 14whites. Ray Sutton Shield, Under 17 and Under 12 Shield. As has been the case for years Port will continue to train youngsters in an effort to turn them in to outstanding young cricketers and future stars. It is great that on any day our younger players could be alongside one of our three Redback Players, Big Bash Players, Breezeair Scorpions, Australian representatives, Emerging Redbacks or Junior State Male and Female Players. The Future looks bright at Port so hop on board. PACC IS AN ACCREDITED LEARNING ORGANISATION

Great Ton From A Great Bloke. Practice, Patience and Perseverance, these are traits shown by Shane Chatto who scored his first A Grade hundred for Port Adelaide on Saturday 25 th February 2017. Shane played his first A Grade game for Port Adelaide in 2003/04 having returned to Adelaide from Darwin after previously playing for East Torrens. This is Shanes 14 th season in A Grade for Port. In that time he has played 112 games and had 133 innings, with a previous highest score of 96 in 2010/11. This season has also been Shanes most successful with a total of 408 runs to this point of time, In total Shane has made 2583 A Grade runs. Shane has always been a great team man and is a great bloke to have around the club. His 115* against Sturt which included five 6s & seven 4s was the 226 th A Grade PACC century. Information by Tregers Club Historian John Tregloan Port to Host the Women s 1st & 2nd Grade Grand Finals 25 th & 26 th of March. Port Adelaide CC earlier this season were invited to host three Cricket Australia National under 19 games with great success and as a reward for some great work now have been asked to host the Women s first and second grade grand finals. All the feedback & reports on the condition of our ground and facilities plus the way in which our volunteers hosted the events were very positive. A big thanks and credit to the great work our volunteers did and also to the local Port Adelaide Enfield Council and ground staff for their great work in having our oval & facilities in fantastic shape. We wish our overseas players and supporters safe travels & thank them for being part of PACC this season. Women s International Mary Waldron from Ireland, from England Arthur Godsal & Harry Came, Barry Newman from the Cheam CC, Stewart & Chantel Richmond from the UK. Good Luck also to Jordy Thomas & Nik Kartas who will be playing in Kent & Scotland during our offseason. From the Club a big thankyou to all of our Sponsors and Supporters.
