Dear Members, Last year through your generous donations we raised over $2700 at our annual golf outing. Those monies were donated to the Special Olympics Tent Town. What is Tent Town? Tent Town is an area at the Special Olympics event where the athletes go before, during, and after their competitions. The competitions are held this year June 24-26th. While they are at Tent Town they have an opportunity to win things such as t- shirts, pens, pencils, an other items that we take for granted. The Ohio State Moose Association is looking to purchase over 3000 t-shirts for these great kids. No one is a loser, as all these athletes' are GREAT kids. On June 4,2011 we again are having a golf outing to contribute more, and we are asking your help to get us over the $3000 mark. If you could, would it be possible to sponsor a hole for $25, or 2 for $40? We are also looking for door prizes such as gift cards, gift certificates, or some thing with your company name and logo on it. You, or your company s name will be prominently displayed on the golf course, and back at out Lodge where it will be displayed for our members and guests. If you can help us out, please make your check payable to Norwood Moose #301. If you would like to donate a door prize, please mail it to me at the address listed below, call me at 513-617-9010, or email johnrbrown@fuse.net and I would be more than happy to pick it up. We at the Norwood Moose THANK YOU AGAIN for your, help, as I am sure all of the participants at Ohio Special Olympics do. Respectfully, John R. Brown Golf Chair 2202 Rhonda Ave. Norwood, OH 45212
NORWOOD MOOSE MESSENGER PAGE 5 A WORD FROM OUR GOVERNOR: Dear Brothers and Sisters; This months letter involves something that has become very lax at the Lodge. We all need to watch our language. Lately there have been alot of complaints to me about profanity at the club. This needs to stop. We do have a rule about the use of profanity that has a 30, 60, and 90 day suspension. If the bartenders ask you to watch your language, you need to do it because they are in charge. They also will be writing down in our incident book about who was cautioned and how many times that person was cautioned. Most of us are guilty of it and it needs to be discontinued. We can all have a good time at OUR lodge without the use of profanity. Thanks! As always I look forward to seeing you at YOUR lodge and always can be reached at 617-9010 or johnrbrown@fuse.net Fraternally; John Brown SENIOR REGENTS REPORT Dear Moose Members, I am delighted to tell you I made my Academy of Friendship at the mid- year conference, Feb. 6th. This is the first degree in the Women of the Moose, it was a wonderful ceremony and gave me a lot of insight on how to improve our membership. Anyone who sign's up for membership must attend an orientation meeting. The more you know the more we grow. The application fee of $25 will be waved until the end of April. So please tell your friends and neighbors to join us for a great cause. Coming soon are our Friday fish fry's and every other Friday we will have Jim Witt DJ and karaoke, Friday the 25th we will be having a karaoke contest to send one of our Moose idols to the finals. Special Irish beer's will be sold on march 17th St. Patrick's Day always an enjoyable night at the Moose. Women's elections begin March 23rd, any women who are interested in becoming an officer of the WOTM you have till April 13th when nominations close. Men's, and women's installation is on April 23rd. It's almost time for spring and it's about time! Some of us are getting a little cabin fever and it has shown from time to time on how we have conducted ourselves in the lodge. We all know we should set good examples for each other and the kid's who attend. Together we can work it out. Thank you to all those who volunteer their time and efforts to help make our Moose lodge a place we can all enjoy!
