THE ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE By Ron Thornton Hello Summer! We have been waiting for you! Since our last newsletter we have had many fun filled activities. Our annual Sock-Hop was a huge success. The evening was very special for four of our Veterans. Richard J. Arther, Marine, Vietnam 1965-1969 Timothy Jones, Army 1982-1985 Charles Squires, Vietnam 1966-1968 Ron Kim, Army, Vietnam 1967-1973 Each Veteran was presented with a Quilt of Valor. As a former recipient, I can tell you that it is truly a great honor. On May 11 our first ever golf cart poker run was held. This was such a successful event that another poker run has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 31st. Make plans to be a part of this fun filled night. Please keep checking the bullentin board for all the details for this and future events. SAD FAREWELL We at Oceanside Village would like to take time to wish two of our longtime residents a sad farewell. Vivian ( Elly ) Thorneburg and Edmund Duke Wall passed away the first part of June. Duke was a long time resident of Oceanside Village and you would find him mostly on the beach with friends. Elly was also a long time resident of Oceanside Village and you would see her smiling face doing her best to keep our offices, community center and activities center as clean as possible. Duke and Elly will be greatly missed! LONG TERM RENTERS Beginning July 1st, all long term renters must exchange their current car stickers for the updated sticker. Please stop by the Ocean-side Village office. We will need a copy of your car registration. WELCOME OUR NEW COMPLIANCE REPRESENTATIVE Hello, my name is Kristin Gouker. SUMMER ACTIVITIES This summer Rose Real Estate has their meet and greet on Mondays at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. there is an ice cream social, and on Fridays there is a cookout from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. RENTER INFORMATION CARDS To the left is a sample of the renter information card. This card is available to all homeowners who rent out their homes. This card gives the visitor authorization to enter the village. The back of the card is to be filled out by the homeowner. The homeowner needs to make sure they sign the back of the card. The visitor fills out the front of the card and needs to be completed prior to arrival. This card is very important. It facilitates the process of getting through the gate quickly. During the height of the summer season, the gate backs up fast. The quicker we can process the faster they can begin enjoying their vacation. The homeowner needs to know how many cars the visitor will be bringing into the village and send a card for each car the visitor is bringing in. We would also like to ask the homeowers to use their keycards at the other gates to gain entry into the village on Saturdays and Sundays to assist in alleviating congestion. If you have any questions or would like to be emailed a copy of the renter information form please contact the OSV management office at (843) 650-4440. 11
