South Africa Football Tour 2015 Players Profiles Name: Archie King Nationality: English Favourite Position: RB Favourite Player: Paul Scholes Going on this tour I will be able to see how differently football is played around the world and be able to form a stronger bond with my friends. Also I will hopefully put smiles on faces of people that don t have the facilities we have. The excursion I am most looking forward to is going to Robben Island and being able to see where one of the most influential men had to stay in jail for 25+ years. The African sporting culture is are very keen and fond of all sports for example rugby, football, cricket, they have all the English league games broadcasted on their TV. My future sporting ambition is to keep playing sport for social rather than competitive and have a laugh playing with my mates. Name: Callum Letts Nationality: English

Favourite position: LM/RM Favourite Professional Player: Frank Lampard The benefits I will achieve from this tour would be a better understanding of the people I will be playing with. Also, during this trip I would like to improve my cardio-vascular endurance which could help with my cricket throughout the summer. I have never been to South Africa, so seeing their culture for the first time will be a lifetime memory. There are many great things about this trip, playing people of a different nationality and going to different cities in the country. However the excursion I will be looking forward to the most will be going on the safari trip. The only thing I know about the South African culture is that they are generally good at sport because they will battle until the game is over. My Future sporting ambition would be to keep playing the sport I enjoy the most (cricket) for my whole life. For the meanwhile I am hoping to stay at Box Hill School and play in the first teams in some sports that I play. Name: Charlie King Age on tour: 15 Nationality: English Playing position: Striker/Winger Favourite Professional Player: Eden Hazard Travelling to another country to play football against people from a different background and culture to myself. Safari, as it is different to anything I have ever done before and will be an exciting and interesting experience. South Africa held the World Cup in 2010 and the South African rugby team is one of the best in the world.

Continue to play football for my school and continue improve at football and my general sporting ability for later life. Name: Dayo Balogun Age on tour: 15 Nationality: Nigerian Favourite position: RW Favourite Professional Player: Theo Walcott I will get to know some of the people on the team more. This tour will probably teach me key things about football. And I will definitely learn new skills. I m looking forward to the Safari. South Africa have a good football team and they are called Baffana Baffana which means the boys the boys. To be a better football player but more of a sprinter. Name: Enno-Hubertus Grams Nationality: German Favourite position: GK Favourite Professional Player: Iker Casillas Seeing a country I have never been to and enjoying a great time with friends. Then as well I hope to improve my football skills especially in my position, goalkeeper.

The matches against the other South African teams. In 2010, South Africa was the first African country to host the FIFA World Cup. They are also more a rugby playing nation then football. To keep fit, healthy and doing regular sports. Hopefully I will find the time to play for a small football club and to never lose the joy of playing football. Name: Guy Butler-Manuel Nationality: British Playing position: CB/LB Favourite Professional Player: Wayne Rooney My aim is to develop strong relationships with all members of the team on and off the pitch and to keep these relationships as I go into the future. I am looking forward to the game reserve/ safari as I really want to see the animals in as close environment to the wild as you can get. As I studied in South Africa for two months in 2013 I have come to understand their passion for sport especially rugby and their love for the Barclay premier league. My future sporting ambition is to represent my club at 1 st team level and to hopefully captain the 1 st XV rugby team at Box Hill School. Name: Joshua Wilmot Age on tour: 15

Nationality: English, Dutch, Cypriot Favourite position: CM Favourite Professional Player: Marco Van Basten I will be able to learn about South African football and immerse myself within South African Culture. I am really looking forward to the Safari Vuvuzelas and that the more money you have the more matches you win To manage AFC Wimbledon to the champions league final Name: Michael Adair Sullivan Nationality: Australian/English/Zambian Favourite position: RW/LW Favourite Professional Player: Garrincha I will get the chance to improve my dwindling skill in football while also learning new skills I m most looking forward to playing and being in a completely new culture while also experiencing a new continent. They have a passionate love for Vuvuzelas which I can only presume is the loudest possible way they can display their love for sport To pass GCSE PE

Name: Seb Brough Nationality: English Favourite position: RM Favourite Professional Player: Asamoah Gyan I will have a better sense of communication as it is important in team sports; but not just in sport, in everyday life too. It will be good for team-building and I will be able to share the experience with others. My football skills will improve and my all-round ability in sport will increase. I will become fitter and my stamina will hopefully get better. I will learn more about the South-African culture and their way of living. I will get the chance to visit some of the country's most famous attractions. The tour will be an un-forgettable experience and I will appreciate it for years to come. As well as having the opportunity to play football against other schools from another country I am most looking forward to the Safari tour. I am very fond of how determined the South-Africans are when playing sport and how much they love to get involved with as many sports as they can. I am doing PE GCSE at the moment and am going to continue it into A-level at Box Hill School. I have accepted a Sports Scholarship from Box Hill and I am very passionate about it. I have an interest in most sports and particularly in Basketball so would like to continue to play that as an adult whether just for a local club or something more. Sport is what I am most passionate about and therefore would like a career in it. Becoming a Coach/teacher is an option as well as playing a sport at a high level. Name: Daniel Naoki Fitton Age on tour: 15 Nationality: Japanese Playing position: Midfielder, Defender or CDM Favourite Professional Player: Keisuke Honda or Cristiano Ronaldo

Interacting with the year above. Also to travel round and see what South Africa is like. Everything! I know about the 2010 world cup To become a professional footballer or a golfer Name: Antony McAlister Age on tour: 35 Nationality: British Playing position: Coach/Manager Favourite Professional Player: Thierry Henry STAFF Having been on many sports tours as both a player and a coach, this is the first time I have visited South Africa. This is the inaugural Box Hill International Sports Tour and with be the start of many future trips and further development of sport at the school. The Safari as it will be amazing to see some of the world s most fascinating animals in their natural environment. Tough, hard and always play to win. I have had the pleasure of playing cricket with some highly talented South African overseas players and they are highly competitive individuals. Having just turned 35, I am now eligible to play veterans hockey ideally for England or Scotland. This will once again let me travel the world playing sport.

Name: James Thomson Age on tour: 38 Nationality: British Playing position: Former right midfield! Roles on tour: Accountant/ Coach/ Public liaison officer Favourite Professional Player: Past - Zinedine Zidane Present - Harry Kane Cultural, life enrichment and Attewell wisdom (he tells us) Game Park Enough having watched cricket and rugby teams battle them on many occasions over last 30 years. Some classic Lions tours most noteworthy I will never forgive O Gara for costing us the series in 2009 for tackling someone in the air! Win Paris Roubaix, play full back for Lions in a test, win America s cup for GBR and many more I m still hopeful Name: John Attewell Age on tour: 35 Nationality: British Playing position: Left Back Favourite Professional Player: Liam Brady

Hoping to have a very enjoyable time. This is a new development for BHS and it will help further raise the profile of football at the School. This is something that I hope we can build on in the future. Table Mountain was unable to go to the top during my last visit as it was too windy Excellent cricket and rugby teams. However having been brought up in the Apartheid era, I was deprived of seeing many great sportsmen and women perform as SA was banned on the international stage. Great to see them back where they belong Too late in life for most sports but I do have many fond memories from years of participation at club level in both cricket and football. All that really remains in to lower my golf handicap!!!
