All other days are by key access only. From the Editor, I have broken one of my life long rules and actually volunteered to edit the newsletter. I am sure I will live to regret it! Once I get going I will try to get the newsletter out to you 4 times per year. We need content and that content should not only be what the club is doing and organising but what the individual members are doing. So lets have your stories and projects. We are all interested in what everybody else is up to, scratch build projects, ARF reviews, etc so put pen to paper or preferably fingers to keyboard and let us all know. In the meantime Happy Christmas to you all. Dave Middleton Remember! 2mt Glider Comp, Round One Millennium Cup Sunday 9 th of January 2005 Notification! The kit is predominantly moulded from high quality plastic material that is moulded in CNC made alloy moulds. This new system ensures that every part in the kit is a perfect fit so that absolute beginners can produce a great looking model with excellent flight performance, very easily and within a short period of time. The plastic construction also makes this trainer a little tougher and more durable than it's wooden counterparts. I have two of these 61 ARF Trainers to sell. CAC Wirraway project by David Middleton I started the design work for the model in March. The design was drawn using Autocad 2000 and is contained on 3, A0 sized sheets. I settled on 1/8 scale this giving me a wingspan of 1.62m, and a cowling diameter sufficient to encase the 54size 4 stroke intended for the model. I chose a Wirraway mainly because to the best of my knowledge nobody has modelled it before. Texans and Harvards yes but not a Wirraway. The model incorporates mechanical retracts (my first attempt at fitting retracts on a model). I was very ably assisted by Dave Brown who made me a laser cut parts kit from parts drawings that I Emailed to him. Construction commenced in June and at time of writing is now nearly complete. First flights should be some time in January. Reference material from which the model was designed and finished was contained in two publications, Wirraway, Boomerang & CA-15 in Australian service by Stewart Wilson and Scale Aviation Modeller volume 9 issue 2. I chose to finish the model as A20-346 as it was when it served with No 7 Service Flying Training School, standard camouflage pattern but with yellow training bands on both wings and rear fuselage and yellow cowling (should make it a bit more visible in the air). Once the prototype is flying copies of the plan can be purchased.
