Club opens at 1800 Pot Luck at 1845 Meeting at 1900 Board Meetings: Tuesday before General Meeting at 1800 Commodore's Report Salutations from your Commodore, The end of August typically marks the end of the summer season. Admiral Shelly and I just returned from the KCYC cruise to Lopez Island. I realized one night while enjoying a cocktail on the aft deck of the Knotty Shell that the nights are getting cooler, which means fall is right around the corner. The cruise to Lopez Island was a grand way to close out the summer season. As I reflected back on all the events our club participated since May, I was thinking how fortunate I am to be a member of a Yacht Club with so many fun activities to choose from. And you can t say enough about the fantastic weather we had to back up these events. Shelly and I have some fond memories. What are your best memories of the summer? We would like to hear about them at our Friday night happy hour or general meeting. A big thank you goes to Cheryl Callais for once again hosting the Annual KCYC golf tournament. I was not able to attend and show off my golf prowess this year but I hear that those who were there all had a great time. I will make sure that I attend next year because once people see me golf, they feel much better about their own game. Just because summer is coming to a close does NOT mean that the fun will be coming to an end. We have additional activities coming to our Friday night happy hour, our world famous Comedy Night is just a few weeks away, and a cruise to Blake Island in September to just name a few events. Look for additional announcements of these events. Check the KCYC calendar as we have several new Friday night events coming. On Friday September 5th, Butch and Sallie will be hosting a barbeque. Bring your own meat to grill and enjoy some other goodies for 5 dollars per person. Following that you will have opportunity to play Bingo. Bob and Deni Lee will be in charge of the Bingo. There could be some interesting prizes available. KCYC members will be voting on the Nominating committees recommendations for the new board during the September general meeting. I hope to see all members at the next General Meeting. This is a great opportunity to have your voice heard and exercise your voting privilege.

Commodore's Report (Continued) Mark your calendars on October 18 th for the Commodores Ball. Let s welcome the new Commodore with good food, cheers and a chance to dance your socks off. More details to follow on this event. I hope to see all of you at our Yacht club this month. The warm weather should hang on for a bit longer so come out and enjoy it with good friends from KCYC. If you are not having fun, it s your own darn fault! Alan Kester, Commodore Vice Commodore's Report From the Vice: Thanks go out to the Port of Kingston for the work that they have completed on our deck project. It has been a busy summer, but they have managed to paint out the railing and replace and paint the boards on the ramp coming up to the front door. Parking has been discussed by the Board and as we have stated all members can park in our designated parking spots. We would ask that you display your membership card at times when the Club is closed and use good judgment. Spots are not to be used for daily commuters. We have asked the Port not to ticket cars. We will monitor this situation. The Board has decided to hire a member to do the Club Rental. The new position will start on Oct. 1st. It will pay 20% of the rental income. Here is the current job description: Promote the club as a good rental location. Work towards more wedding and group functions. Increase income to the Club. Take all phone calls inquiring about rentals. Develop necessary paperwork and flyers as needed. Show the Club to prospective renters. Complete necessary contracts for users of the Club. Update the Club Calendar. Arrange for special accommodations. Monitor larger Events. Check Club after major Events for cleanup and damage. Arrange for Cleaning Service. Collect and turn in money. Report to the Board on a monthly basis. Interested members should send a letter of application to Steve Young at stevey3@comcast.net. Please outline your experience, qualifications and ideas to improve revenue. Deadline is Sept 15th. Steve Young, Acting Vice-Commodore

Rear Commodore s Report News from the Bar: August has been a little slower at KCYC bar. Besides our Friday Night Socials, we had good attendance at the General Meeting. Thank You Cheryl C. for again hosting the annual Golf Tourney and dinner. Although we missed it due to the San Juan Cruise, we heard it was a lot of fun. Friday Sept. 5 th will be a night to come to the club and enjoy several activities. Fisrt, Sallie and I will be hosting the open grill BBQ. Bring something to grill and the side dishes are available. Also, Bobby Lee will be running Bingo Night at the club. This was a lot of fun last year and Bobby does a great job calling numbers. In addition, Cheryl will be wrapping bottles of wine for the mystery wine sale at the Kathleen Sutton Auction on 10/4/14. Bring a favorite wine to donate or help the team wrapping bottles. It should be a lot of fun for a great cause Remember, the BBQ will be on every Friday night through the summer that we have a host. Bring whatever you want to cook and for $5.00, all the trimmings will be provided. We need volunteers to step up and host these BBQs. Remember Pete s Comedy night will be coming Sept. 27th. Get your tickets at the bar or see Pete. This is always a great show that shouldn t be missed. If you have ideas for Friday Night Activities or would like to sponsor an evening event, give me a call. (541-602-3220 or butch_brown@comcast.net). Let me know what you would like to see Friday nights! See you at the club! R.C. Butch Fleet Captain's Report September is here and what an enjoyable boating season this has been. Soon we will be planning the cruises for the next year. So let me know of any places you may want to go to. August 29 th to September 1st is the Cruise to Lopez Island. I will have a full report of this trip after we return. Todd and Jovita have planned a fun eventful weekend for all. Artwork, biking, wine, KCYC Olympics is just a few of the events. September 19 th to the 21 st is the Blake Island Cruise. Dock space is available on a first come bases. Rafting is permitted at the dock. We will not be attending this cruise, so I am looking for someone to be Cruise Captain, if you are interested, please let me know. shellykester@gmail.com October 24 to October 26 is the Cruise to Pleasant Harbor. More information to follow in regards to this cruise. Fleet Captain Shelly Kester
