Pledging our Hands to Larger Service Thank You to our 4-H members that served their community last month.. Thank you for all of your great work Needlers 4-H Club knit and crocheted scarves to donate to the Hickory Knoll Methodist coat closet. 4-Leaf Clover Kids with Heart made wreaths and cards and more to take to the Macon Valley Nursing Home. Their visit was much enjoyed by the residents there. Chefs R Us made dog treats for our friends at the humane society Nantahala 4-H Club made ornaments to take to those that needed holiday cheer in their community Jerome Suminski volunteered at the Appalachian Animal Rescue Center Raquel Stiles and Isaac Stiles made sprays and decorations for residents of the Macon Valley Nursing Home A Group of 4-H Friends - Dominique Wright, Chandon Ivey, Jed Wright, Ashlyn Albers, Melissa Hribar, Gabrianne Ivey, Andy Wright, Simon Wright, Joshua Klages, Sara Jade Harrel, Hannah Klages and Jeremiah Klages played piano pieces and sang Christmas Carols for the Macon county Senior Center. Club Corner Archery Archery for January will be canceled. We will have a reorganization meeting in February. Details to come in the February newsletter. Budding Chefs For youth ages 5-8 Boy did we have a lot of fun getting messy with chocolate in December. This is a fun bunch developing some great cooking skills. Please join us for our next meeting on Tuesday January 20th from 4:45. Chefs R Us Thanks you to our Chefs that helped make dog treats for the Humane Society. They were excited to get our great peanut butter and cottage cheese creations. The next meeting for the Chef's R Us club will be on Wednesday January 21th from -5:00. 4-H Chess Club Chess Club will be back on regular schedule this month and will meet on the last Monday of the month. We hope you will come join this fun group and stretch your brain. The next Chess meeting will be on Monday January 26 th from 5:00 pm to meet. Cool Crafty Kids For youth ages 5-8 Cool Crafty Kids, we sure hope you have gotten over all the candy we ate and put on our Gingerbread Houses in December. Four Leaf Clover Kids with Heart For youth ages 5-8 Our 4-Leaf Clover Kids were great citizens in December and visited the residents of Macon Valley Nursing Home to spread holiday cheer. Our next meeting will be on Monday January 26 th from to 5:00 If you have any questions or suggestions please call Noreen @ 369-8060. Macon Hoofprints 4-H Club For youth ages 5-18 Hoofprints will meet on January 16 th for our regular meeting. We will have a speaker to teach us new horse skills. Horsebowl team will practice intensively in January to prepare for the District Competition on February 7 th. Horsebowl practices will be on January 3 rd, 10 th and 31 st from 10:00 12:00 - also on January 15 th and 22 nd from 5:30 7:30. Please call Kara Setzer for more information (828) 342-3967. The Needlers 4-H Club For youth ages 5-18 The Needlers Needlecrafts Club will meet on Tuesday, January 13th at the Agriculture Center to 5pm. Anyone interested in crocheting, knitting, cross stitch, or embroidery is invited to attend. 4-H Macon Sharp Shooters Sharpshooters will meet on Tuesday January 27 th from 7:00 8:30 pm. This club is for youth ages 9-18. Pellet rifles are available or if you have your own pellet rifle, then you are welcome to bring it. If you need more information, then contact Cliff Cyphers at 369-8060. EPICS Youth Council For youth 13-18 Thank you to our EPICS that provided community service in December. We will meet on Monday January 12 th at 6:30. Nantahala 4-H Club Nantahala 4-H will choose their official club name this month. We have a great group of 4-Hers in this group. In December, 21 Nantahala 4-Hers made ornaments for people in their community. We will meet on Monday January 5 th at 3:00pm. 4
Need to Know Info Upcoming 4-H County Council January 6th 4-H County Council will meet on Tuesday January 6 th. We will eat at 5:30 and have our business meeting from 6:00 7:00 pm. Please bring your calendars and ideas for planning the 2015 4-H year. Elections for Club Officers January is the month for elections in our 4-H clubs. Cloverbud clubs do not have officers but most of our other clubs have a President, Vice-President, Secretary and two 4-H County Council Members. If you would like to serve your club as an officer, please have a short 1 minute or less speech ready for your club meeting time. Your speech should include your name, what your like about your club and why you want to be an officer. Many of you are in multiple clubs please only commit to two offices for 2015. That will leave you plenty of time and energy to serve your club. Project Record Books Please remember to submit your Project Record Book by Monday January 5 th. Congratulation to Jacquelyn Bruun for attending National 4-H Congress. Jacquelyn Bruun represented Macon County 4-H on the National level during the first week of December. She was one of 14 youth from across North Carolina to travel to Atlanta, GA and meet other 4-Hers from across the country.
