Activities and Watersports The Swimming Pool Our 30-meter swimming pool is located next to the Clubhouse. Sun beds, umbrellas, and towels are provided. Snacks and refreshments may be served by your sun bed, in one of the Pool Salas, or under the Pool Trellis. Poolside showers and changing facilities are situated beneath the bar terrace, adjacent to the Clubhouse steps. The Seasports Hut Located right next to the Beach Club (between Casitas 15 and 16), the Seasports Hut handles the island s water sports activities, including boat charters to nearby islands or snorkeling spots. Information on sea conditions, weather forecasts and marine life may also be obtained here. Lessons in any of our water sports like snorkeling, kayaking and sailing may also be arranged. When the prevailing wind comes from the southwest during the months of June through October, it is sometimes necessary for water sports activities to take off from the Windsurf Hut on the other side of the island. Tidal variations may affect the departure time of certain activities. The following complimentary water sports are available between 7 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon daily, subject to sea and weather conditions: Windsurfing Hobiecat sailing Laser boat sailing Paddle boards Kayaks (single and double) Snorkeling (including equipment) Special Complimentary Activities Windsurfing, Hobiecat, and Laser Boat Sailing One of the best spots to view the island and its spectacular beach is from the sea on a Hobiecat, Laser, or windsurf board. Lessons on sailing and windsurfing are available. For experienced windsurfers, the Windsurf Hut offers a range of slalom boards together with wave and slalom sails. The strongest winds are usually between December and March.
SNORKELING SITES A The Passage On the northwestern side of the pier, it is possible to kayak out to a mooring and snorkel in a site with pretty fan corals. B The Pier The pier is a convenient snorkeling area and a favoured dive spot that is best accessed by kayaking to a nearby mooring. A large variety of tropical fish and coral formations around the rocks can be seen at a depth of about 5 meters. Sergeant majors, jacks, fusiliers and other interesting fish as well as occasional big-eye and blue-spotted stingrays may also be seen. C Fish Feeding Sites As the beach attendants feed the fish, you can snorkel among the tropical reef fish. There are two fish feeding sites - one on the northern side of the island and the other on the western side, near the pier. In addition to our daily boat trips, you may also access the fish feeding sites by kayak. D Casita 40 Beautiful table corals and a variety of marine life may be discovered at the coral reef approximately 500 meters from the beach front of Casita 40 and at an average depth of 7 to 10 meters.
Fish Feeding and Snorkeling Trips Our boat departs for one of the nearby fish feeding sites from the Seasports Hut twice daily, at 10 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Watch from the deck of the boat or snorkel and swim among colourful tropical fish. A second snorkeling site is visited after fish feeding. Snorkeling equipment may be secured from the Seasports Hut before departure. Your Guest Assistant can also arrange for fish feeding from the shore in front of the Beach Club upon request. Kayak Snorkeling A great way to explore the clear waters is through kayaking to and snorkeling in two reefs, with each reef marked with special kayak mooring. Snorkeling equipment is available from the Seasports Hut. Our staff would be happy to guide you upon request. TIPS AND REMINDERS Moorings and snorkel areas marked by an orange buoy are located in the following areas: 150m in front of the Beach Club, near the fish feeding site; and in front of Casita 1, about 150m from the shore. Most of the snorkeling spots may be easily reached from the shore by swimming or kayaking and mooring the kayaks to a nearby buoy. Other sites may be accessed by boat. Accessibility and conditions of some snorkeling areas are dictated by sea conditions. Our staff at the Seasports Hut will be happy to advise you on the best snorkeling spots, schedule and which boat to take. Our marine sanctuary is very fragile. Please do not touch, stand on, or remove corals and other marine life from the sea. For additional information on the marine life in and around Pamalican Island, please consult our staff at the Seasports Hut. Fishing Pamalican s marine environment has been declared a protected area. As such, only troll and bottom fishing are permitted. Fish for snappers, groupers, wahoo, tuna, and mackerel. Other common catches are sweetlips, emperors, trevallies, tuna, bonitos, and barracuda. Bottom Day/Night Fishing Experience our traditional means of bringing home food with a hand line, hook, sinker/lead weights, and fresh fish (sardines) and squids as baits. Bottom fishing attracts all size of fish. Under sized fish (measuring not more than 8 in or 27 cm) must be released back to the sea to protect the future of our marine life. Troll Fishing This kind of fishing uses reel, rod, and artificial baits such as rapala and birds feather and crystallic in assorted colours. It has the biggest lagoon in the Quiniluban islands, and it is the habitat of horseshoe and mangrove crabs. The island has a population of approximately 3,000 residents. Fishing and seaweed farming are the primary livelihoods. The island is rarely visited by tourists. In order to preserve the people s pristine way of life, we request you to take minimal number of photographs and to refrain from bringing money. Refreshments are provided on board the boat. Ta-Yay Island This small island is located 30 minutes north of Pamalican adjacent to the larger island of Concepcion. The island is surrounded by a coarse white sand beach perfect for picnics and snorkeling. Ta-Yay is inhabited by just a few families whose main source of income is seaweed farming. Imaruan Island This small island is located about 45 minutes south of Pamalican. It is mostly deserted, although fishermen sometimes dry fish here. Imaruan offers cozy little deserted beaches for snorkeling, swimming or picnics.
