MAPLE CITY WINGS GWRRA Michigan Chapter W ADRIAN, MICHIGAN March 2018 Hello Chapter W Family Bob & Marcia Kinsey Well we have put February behind us not a lot going on in February but we were able to have a Road Captains meeting on the 16th and planned some rides for the summer. Again we want to thank Patti K for letting us use her office as a meeting place. Ken has all the rides on the web site so check them out. Monthly Gatherings Join us at our next monthly gathering @ The Adrian Armory Event Center Our Monthly Gathering is held the 2nd Sunday of the Month @ 9am 8:30am for social time, coffee & doughnuts. Come and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow GWRRA Members and our Chapter W Family! Our next Gathering is March 18th @ The Adrian Armory Event Center There is also a new Road Safari for the summer. This gives us a lot of destinations. Three of the Safari destinations are on the schedule for rides after our gatherings. There are 16 destinations of the Safari. If you ride to all of them you will be eligible for the $100 drawing and a T- shirt. If you ride to 12 you will receive a t-shirt. Let s see how many locations we can mark off. The new Road Safari the maps are only $10.00 which covers driver and passenger. We want to remind everyone about the Chapter W gathering in March it has been changed to the 18 th due to Wingless Weekend being held on the second weekend. So make sure you take note we would hate for you to go to the Armory on the 11 th and no one be there. Ken Kintner has all the Rides on the GWRRA Michigan web site and the Chapter W web site so check it out. You know what the saying is if March comes in like a lion, which we will all agree it did, it goes out like a lamb. So let s hope for an early spring and more riding time. Some of the Chapter W men have a Ride coming up in April. If it is something you would be interested in give Don Stoddard a call he can give you all the information, the men have done this for quite a few years, and they always come back with a lot of tails about their trip some things I m sure they leave out. We girls should come up with an activity for the same weekend. If you have a suggestion contact any female staff member and we will see what mischief we can come up with. Marching on to spring! Rider courses are almost in place. May 5 th we ll be in Stockbridge, May 19 th we ll be in Ionia, June 9 th in Pontiac, and June 30 th in Grayling. Sault Ste Marie has not chosen between July 28 th or August 4 th. The registration form will be available online as soon as we get dates for Stockbridge and Sault Ste Marie. Also, please remember three sites had to be cancelled last year due to lack of participation. We cannot send instructors four or six hours away from home with overnight costs for two participants including painting the range the night before and make it cost effective for Michigan. Indiana and Ohio have posted their rider course dates and locations on their district websites, for those of you who may live closer or happen to be in that area and would like to attend one of theirs. New forms are available online; please remember each member is to complete their own Levels Updates, etc., and send it to us at 1498 Sand Beach Road, Bad Axe, MI 48413. Home Office chose to remove the Chapter Educator position due to information that was received from members. So this is why each member now has to be responsible for their own Levels. That doesn t mean we won t help; what it does mean is that Phoenix envisioned that Level 4 members would be available to assist anyone with questions regarding Levels. One of the forms that have been changed, the N.17, is no longer known as T-CLOCS. The form is now entitled GWRRA Rider Course Vehicle Inspection Sheet. I believe they were trying to include all models and types of motorcycles, even though T-CLOCS was much more fun to say! We ve received many questions/comments on the monthly newsletter article. Please go to GWRRA Officers Connect or WingWorld and check out the GWRRA Field Restructure that took place on 1-1-18 for questions you may have about the way GWRRA does business. For Rider Education, we are at an equal but distinct level as the District Directors, the District Ride Coordinators, the District University Coordinator, the District Membership Enhancement, the District Motorist Awareness Coordinator, and even the District Treasurer. What this means for you as a member and/or officer is that we as District Educators answer to the Director of Rider Education, Tim Grimes. We also have an Assistant Director of Rider Education, John Kuehl, and an Area Representative, Chuck Jacobs, to help us abide by the Director of Rider Education s requirements and to assist us in doing so. We do listen to all comments and suggestions, but we cannot change what we do as District Educators unless our boss, the Director of Rider Education, tells us to, as we signed an Oath of Office agreeing to follow GWRRA policies. We ll be asking for how many newsletters are sent by mail and/or email as a total each month at Wingless Weekend s officers meeting in order to comply with quarterly reporting for National Office.
