To receive points in any event riders must complete the first round at that height without elimination. Points are awarded in the categories as stated, i.e. the highest placed horse/rider in each subsection will receive full points regardless of where they placed in the class. Competitors can compete in classes where no points are allocated for their subsection. They will be competing for normal placing and ribbons as per a normal event. The points are for calculation of the special awards. It is up to riders to work out which classes they would like to ride in to maximise their chance at one of the great special awards It is important that the rider s age is stated on the entry form so that points can be allocated to ponies eligible for special awards. It is important to state your pony s height on the entry form, so that ponies are allocated the correct points for their height class. The committee will measure any pony where the height is in question, unless an official measurement certificate can be produced. In the junior ring riders can only receive points for a combination, i.e. if a rider places twice on different mounts, these points do not accumulate for the rider. This gives riders with only one mount an equal chance over those with multiple rides. Catering Excellent catering available for the duration of the event. An evening meal will be catered for on the Saturday night. Please book prior to 12pm on Saturday. Camping A paddock is available for camping. Definitely no campfires. A small number of yards are available at $5/yard. Please contact Wendy Kelly on 55998329 to check availability. Hot Weather Policy If a code red day is forecast as per the CFA website the competition on that day will be postponed. In the event of the forecast temperature exceeding 35 degrees the event may be conducted using modified start times (ie early start), and/or modified program. Please contact Lisa Monteith on 0429 992655, Wendy Kelly 0428 998 329 or Jane Gough 55948249 to check for any program changes. EQUITATION Athletes will be judged on a single round of equitation. A plan of the course will be displayed prior to the start of the competition, and up to three skills or tasks required during the round will be described. The main objectives of jumping equitation are to promote quality show jumping and to improve the technique of both horse and athlete. Equitation judges score athletes on their leg, seat, body and hand position over and between fences, the smoothness and correctness of the horse s gaits and leads, and the accuracy of the athlete in completing the assigned tasks. The negotiation of each obstacle is scored out of 10, as is each of the tasks. Presentation is marked out of 10. Any jumping penalties received are deducted from the total score. TABLE A Immediate Jump Off (Articles 238.1.2, 273.1, 245.3) A competition judged under Table A, not against the clock with a time allowed in the first round. A competitor with a clear round must remain in the arena for a jump-off against the clock. The judge rings the bell to indicate that he/she is ready for the competitor to start the jump-off of the competition. A competitor who fails to pass through the start of the jump-off within 45 seconds of the bell incurs elimination. In the case of equality of faults in the jump-off, time will decide the placing. In the case of equality of faults and time, equal placing will be awarded. If the number of competitors who reach the jump-off is insufficient to fill all placing, the additional placing will be decided on faults from the first round, with equal placing being awarded as necessary.
