Chamber UPDATE Chamber UPDATE April 2012 Volunteers Needed for the 2012 Ryder Cup submitted by: Jennifer Jungel, Manager, Communications & Development Lake Pk H.S. Dist. #108 Volunteer for the opportunity of a lifetime! Volunteers are needed to help with the 39 th Ryder Cup which will be held at Medinah Country Club the week of September 25, 2012. The premier international golf tournament is expected to attract 45,000 visitors on a daily basis. Volunteers are needed to help with parking and concessions Tuesday, September 25 through Sunday, September 30, 2012. Any volunteer working either one 12-hour shift or two 6-hour shifts will receive a complimentary full day entrance pass to the Ryder Cup. (Paid tickets to the event are sold out.) Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old and are required to pass a criminal background check and attend a short training session the week before the competition. Volunteers will also receive a complimentary dual-branded hat. Lake Park High School District 108 has partnered with the PGA to provide rental space for parking and training as well as a commitment of 500 volunteers per day during the week of the tournament. Upcoming Events Please set aside Tuesday, June 19th so that you can join us at the Wood Dale Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Outing Maple Meadows will be hosting the golf outing. Last year s event was a lot of fun and the year before we did have a Hole in One winner. The event includes golf with a covered cart, putt and run lunch, dinner after golf and a small gift. The DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is the only state certified agency to represent DuPage County tourism and the CVB is offering promotional opportunities through sponsorships in the Hospitality Guide, advertising in the Hospitality Guide, submitting a gift item for the Welcome Bags and various other offers.
