FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT Greetings and Salutations, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am certain that 2019 will be one of the best years ever for your Club. What makes me so certain of this is the staff and management of the Club. As you may be aware, February will mark the end of my service on the Board of Governors. Similar to a year end, this has caused me to reflect on my time on the BOG. When I think of the progress we have made over the past six years, what immediately comes to mind are the numerous physical improvements that have been made to the Club. However, what is most impressive is the exceptional quality of the personnel at the Club and the experiential growth that has occurred at all levels. There is not a single area or department of the Club that is even comparable to how it existed six years ago. As members, we have witnessed the improvements to the course, food and beverage, the clubhouse, the pool, men s club, special events and parties. We have been a part of reaching out to the next generation of golfers through our Youth Sports organization which is touching the lives of students in an ever-expanding outreach. Young members with children are starting to refill our membership rolls. The Club and the course are better respected, state wide. Tournaments, once a rarity, are returning due to the excellence of the course, management of the process and volunteerism of our members. Club events are expanding both in number and inclusivity. Your Club is THE event venue for every special event that requires the best in food, décor and design. It is also the safest haven for your families and your children. This club has life! It is growing, improving, expanding, excelling. As I contemplate the reasons for this upward trend, the answer is simple, yet complex. The simple answer is the people who are here every day working to make this excellence happen, from the department head to the server and grounds worker. However, and this is where the answer goes from simple to complex; their collective attitude is what really makes the difference. I know of no time this collective attitude is more on display than at the Cheer party. Every employee and department is involved in the evening, some in areas outside of their expertise. It is the perfect example of the attitude everyone brings here, every day. A friend reminded me that one of the most important roles in an orchestra is the conductor. They may not know how to play a drum or violin, but without their direction and leadership, the song isn t played. We have a damn fine conductor! Kate has successfully set the tone and provided the leadership to allow each associate to excel. She has also assembled a leadership team that is the envy of every club. Scott, Pat, Megan, Carl, Debbie, and BJ. Respected leaders! Each exhibits excellence in their craft and are respected by the members. I have been blessed to work with many wonderful board members. The work has always been positive in approach and dedicated to the growth of the Club, the preservation of its character and the continual enhancements to your experience. I thank each of them for their exceptional service. Yes, I believe 2019 will be an excellent year! And 2020 after that. And 2021,2022 Because excellence breeds excellence, success breeds success! Peace and Blessings in the New Year and, I ll see you at the Club! Ed McDonough
