Notice of Race Event: Swedish Championship for OK - dinghy Swedish Championship for Snipe Competitors from other countries are very welcome to participate Date: August 29 th 31 st 2014 Organizer: Segelsällskapet Kaparen (SS Kaparen) 1. Rules 1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 1.2 International OK Dinghy class rules will apply for OK-dinghy. SCIRA Rules of Conduct will apply for Snipe. 1.3 Swedish competitors shall when racing follow the licensing rules for advertising as decided by the Swedish Sailing Federation. 1.4 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 1.5 Competitors shall when afloat wear personal flotation devices. This rule does not apply to short-term replacement or adjustment of clothing or personal equipment, or when competitors are in the harbor or under deck. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices. This changes RRS 40. A boat that breaks this rule may be warned or penalized at the discretion of the protest committee. 2. Eligibility requirements 2.1 To be entitled to participate in Riksidrottsförbundets championships, each competitor must comply with ISAF Regulation 19. In order to be awarded the title Swedish Champion (SM) the competitors shall be Swedish citizens or have resided in Sweden for at least six months the last twelve months before the event starts. At championships with more than one competitor per boat, a majority of the crew (more than 50%) shall comply with the rule regarding the title Swedish Champion. If so, the entire crew will be awarded the title Swedish Champion. Championship plaquette and titles may be awarded if six or more boats from at least three different clubs located in more than one district have crossed the finish line in one race in the championship. 2.2 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance. 1(7)
2.3 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 3. Entries 3.1 Entry shall be made not later than Friday 15 August 2014 by completing the online registration form and paying the required fee not later than Friday 15 August 2014 at 15:00. Entry must be received no later than 15 August 2014 to qualify for the early entry fee, see 3.2. OK-dinghy and Snipe participants shall fill in the online registration form on the organiser s website: www.sskaparen.se Tävlingar 2014. 3.2 The advance entry shall include the following: Name of helm Name of crew Sail number Club affiliation Citizenship E-mail Cell phone And any other requested information on the registration form 3.3 The entry fee is for Snipe 1200;- SEK The entry fee is for OK-dinghy 800;- SEK The fees shall be paid to the account of SS Kaparen: Bank : SWEDBANK Account no. : 8105-9, 237.672.330-6 for Swedish participants IBAN : SE85 8000 0810 5923 7672 3306 for non-swedish participants BIC : SWEDSESS for non-swedish participants The regatta dinner on Saturday is included in the entry fee. Late entries are accepted after 15 August 2014. However, all late entries shall fill in the registration form as above and after 15 August the fee can only be paid in cash at the regatta office on registration. Registration and measurement checks 4.1 Registrations for OK-dinghy shall be made at the race office not later than Friday 29 August 13.30 Registrations for Snipe shall be made at the race office not later than Saturday 30 August 09.00 2(7)
4.2 Measurement certificates shall be presented prior to racing. 4.3 Random measurement checks may be performed at any time during the regatta. At registration all participants shall show: Skippers declaration Receipt for paid registration fee Name and Club affiliation of Skipper and crew, if not done before 5. Sailing Instructions 5.1 The sailing instructions will be handed out at registration. 6. Time schedule 6.1 Programme: Friday 29 th August only valid for OK-dinghy 12.00 13.30 Registration, random measurement and safety inspection 14.00 Skippers briefing 15.00 Time for the first warning signal for the day Friday 29 th August only valid for Snipe 16.00 20.00 Registration, random measurement and safety inspection Saturday 30 th August only valid for Snipe 08.00 09.00 Registration, random measurement and safety inspection Saturday 30 th August valid for both OK-dinghy and Snipe 09.30 Skippers briefing 11.55 Time for the first warning signal for the day Sunday 31 st August valid for both OK-dinghy and Snipe 09.55 Time for the first warning signal for the day Prize giving ceremony will be held as soon as possible after the final race is finished and possible protests have been handled. 6.2 9 races are scheduled for OK-dinghy 7 races are scheduled for Snipe 7. Race format 7.1 If more than 50 boats register, the boats can be divided into smaller fleets for a series of qualifying races and the results will determine each boat s assignment to two fleets for the final series. 8. Racing areas 8.1 The racing areas will be east of Gottskär harbour on the Kungsbacka fiord or southwards of the fiord 9. The courses 9.1 The courses to be sailed will be as follows: For OK-dinghy day one will be a triangular course For OK-dinghy day two will be a trapezoid course For Snipe. Course will be according to SCIRA Official Rulebook. The detailed course plans will be given in the sailing instruction (SI). The race committee will try to set the courses, so that it will take approx. 45 minutes to sail for both classes 10. Protests and penalty systems 10.1 RRS appendix P will apply. 11. Scoring 11.1 The low point scoring system of RRS A will apply, modified so that when three or fewer races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. 11.2 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a championship. 12. Prizes 12.1 Prizes will be given for the top three boats of each class in the regatta (irrespective of citizenship). Sponsor prizes will be drawn randomly to those attending the prize giving ceremony. 12.2 Plaques in gold, silver and bronze from the Swedish Sailing Federation will also be given to the top three boats of each class where the competitor is a Swedish citizen or has resided in Sweden for at least six months the past twelve months before the regatta starts.
