WIMBLEDON AND OLD COURSE PRE-TOUR July 11 17 The Old Course at St Andrews Join us as we attend the finals at Wimbledon and play The Old Course at St Andrews. Plan to arrive in London on July 12 where you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to the legendary May Fair Hotel, ideally situated in Mayfair near Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. From our prime reserved seats on Centre Court at Wimbledon, we watch the world s best men s and ladies tennis players compete in the finals of singles and doubles matches on Saturday and Sunday. The full hospitality of The Gatsby Club is available to us, where we enjoy five-star service and a three-course lunch each day. On Monday, we fly to Edinburgh and play three rounds of golf in St Andrews: The Old Course, The New Course and your choice of Kingsbarns or Carnoustie. Trump International Golf Links Scotland JULy 16/17: home EDINBURGh, SCOTLAND depart your home city on July 16 for an overnight flight to edinburgh, scotland. upon arrival, you are greeted at the airport and transferred to Sea Cloud II. this evening, we settle in on board as we sail to aberdeen. JULy 18: ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND GolF: TRuMP GolF links SCoTlaNd martin hawtree designed this dramatic layout in the midst of some of the largest dunes to be found in scotland. the towering dunes shield the wind at times but the panoramas from the higher tee boxes bring all the elements into play. hawtree s imagination in laying out these challenging holes leaves an authentic links feel where par on any hole is to be cherished. We enjoy lunch at banchory lodge before returning to the ship.
Royal Dornoch Golf Club JULy 19: INVERGORDON GolF: RoYal dornoch GolF CluB the remoteness of royal dornoch has helped create a mystique about this magnificent golf outpost, just four degrees below the arctic Circle. overlooking the north sea, dornoch is characterized by gentle sandy swells and rolls. Considered a brilliant example of links design, it is ranked 5 th among the world s top 100 courses. renowned golf course architect donald ross, who was born in dornoch, caddied at the club as a youngster and later spent six years as greenskeeper and golf professional at dornoch. TouR: dunrobin CaSTle and VIllaGe of dornoch touring guests visit dunrobin Castle, the seat of the earls of sutherland since the 13 th century. following our guided tour of the castle and gardens, we are treated to a demonstration of the fine art of falconry. We also visit the unspoiled edwardian town of dornoch, with plenty of time for individual exploration and lunch in this quaint village. JULy 20: DAy AT SEA there is no better way to enjoy our host vessel than a full day at sea aboard Sea Cloud II. enjoy the leisurely pace of travel and the expert maneuvers of skilled deckhands as they scale the rigging and set the sails for our voyage around the coast of scotland to portrush. there will be plenty of time for relaxing after a couple days of golf.
Machrihanish JULy 21: PORTRUSh, NORThERN IRELAND today we attend the final round of the 148 th open, the first open to be played outside of scotland and england in 66 years. the last time the open was contested at royal portrush was in 1951, when max faulkner prevailed at 3-under par. history will be made today, and if recent opens are a reference, we should witness a rousing final round. JULy 22: CAMPBELTOWN, SCOTLAND GolF: MaCHRIHaNISH the first at machrihanish, referred to by many as the greatest opening hole in golf and nicknamed the battery, is a fitting start to what is sure to be a memorable round. machrihanish is classic, rugged links, running out and back along the coast, shaped by time and the elements, dotted with pot bunkers and rolling swales. a wonderful test awaits on the western coast of scotland. TouR: CaMPBelToWN local historian John bakes will lead us on a tour starting at the city center, teaching us about the fascinating cultural, social and economic influences which have shaped Campbeltown. our walk includes a visit to a local whisky distillery Campbeltown is one of only five distinct whisky producing regions in scotland and lunch at a local eatery.
The Royal County Down Golf Club JULy 23: BELFAST, NORThERN IRELAND GolF: THe RoYal CouNTY down GolF CluB designed by old tom morris, royal County down is admired as one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world and is consistently ranked among the world s top five. laid out through giant sandhills along a narrow strip of land between dundrum bay and the mourne mountains, it offers spellbinding scenery and a fine test of golf. TouR: BelFaST famous for its political, literary and seafaring history, this capital of northern ireland is becoming one of europe s favored destinations. We will explore Queen s university, the Cathedral Quarter and parliament buildings. our time includes a visit to the Titanic museum, City hall and a stop to see the city s political murals created during the troubles. lunch is at the merchant hotel. JULy 24: PORTRUSh GolF: RoYal PoRTRuSH GolF CluB designed by h. s. Colt, the dunluce links at royal portrush golf Club is the only course outside of scotland and england to host the open, and it is a treat to be invited to play just a few days after the 2019 open. harry Colt considered the course to be his masterpiece and not a single hole fails to impress. Calamity Corner is recognized as one of the world s most treacherous par threes, with its green perched on the edge of a precipice. JULy 25: GLASGOW, SCOTLAND home this morning, we say goodbye to the captain and crew of Sea Cloud II as we disembark and begin transfers for homebound flights from glasgow airport. or, join us as we travel to turnberry on our extension.
