USRowing, Visit Oak Ridge, and the Oak Ridge Rowing Association are excited that you have chosen to attend the 2017 USRowing Masters National Championships. This packet contains additional information to help you to finalize your planning. Please read this packet in its entirety. Key Dates and Deadlines Monday, August 14 o RegattaCentral re-opens for line-up editing. o Express Lane crews notified. Tuesday, August 15 o Initial Heat Sheets with lane assignments posted. Wednesday, August 16 o Team arrival and practice day (see details below). o Coaches, coxswains, and blind boats meeting. o On-site registration available. o Official coxswain weigh-ins available. Thursday, August 17-Sunday, August 20 o Racing days (heats followed by finals). o Registration and official weigh-in locations available. o Award pick-up available each afternoon. o Beer garden available each afternoon. Less Waiting, More Rowing : New On-Site Check-in Procedures In a continued effort to have competitors spend less time in the registration line, and more time focused on rowing, we are introducing a few changes to the on-site check-in procedures for this year s Masters National Championships: Group Pick-up: A coach or crew representative can pick up the credentials for their crew, except for non-compliant members. Individual athletes are not required to show up to registration to collect their own credentials. Less Re-Printing: Event numbers will no longer be printed on the athlete credential. When substitutions are made, athletes will no longer be required to have their wristband re-printed to reflect the change. Compliance with the 6-event limit will be

monitored online, and changes will not be processed if it will result in an athlete going over this limit. Express Lane On-Site Registration Athletes that are compliant with the regatta s Membership requirements by August 14 will be eligible for the Express Lane. An email will be sent to notify eligible athletes, and those athletes credentials will be in a separate line from the normal registration area. Instead of waiting in line, you can simply walk up, sign out that you ve collected your credentials, and get back to your crew. Line-up Changes Hot Seating To allow for further ease at the registration table, USRowing will re-open RegattaCentral to accept line-up changes online. Credentials are printed based on the line-ups at the August 11 deadline. Leaving placeholder names in after this date will result in incorrect credentials, and will cause delays for your crews at registration. This second line-up window is intended for line-up changes after the deadline. Coaches will be able to edit their line-ups in RegattaCentral beginning Monday, August 14, until 9:00pm on Wednesday, August 16. After Wednesday, any additional line-up changes must be submitted by completing a form at the USRowing registration desk. NEW FOR 2017: Any lineup changes processed on-site will be subject to a $5 administrative fee. Reminders: No line-up changes will be allowed less than 1 hour before the first race of an event. BE ADVISED: There is not a separate hot seat dock for this event. Crews will need to come in to the return dock, and go over to the launch dock for their second race. Please plan accordingly. Social Events and Opportunities Explore Oak Ridge The city of Oak Ridge is known for its rich history and life changing science. While in town, venture over to the American Museum of Science and Energy. The museum explains how life

was here during the Manhattan Project and provides a bus tour to go behind the scenes in restricted areas! More information here! Explore Oak Ridge welcomes you to the City of Oak Ridge! If you re looking for activities to do in between rowing, check out the website at www.exploreoakridge.com to learn about our museums, amazing greenways and trails and shopping in Oak Ridge! Beer Garden Where: Near the Finish Line, on the regatta peninsula When: 11:00am-8:00pm each racing day (Thursday-Sunday) At this year's Masters' National Championship, Oak Ridge favorite Crafter s Brew will be on-site to make a selection of local craft brews available for competitors and spectators. On Friday, August 18th, The Gosh Darn s will be playing live and on Saturday, August 19th, Robie & James Lewis will perform. Music will start after racing for the day ends. With an ideal location along the water, right near the finish line, the Beer Garden will provide an ideal location to reminisce about your races, both past and present, and show off your medals.

Coxswain Weigh-In Times The weigh-in areas will be staffed by USRowing referees to allow official coxswain weigh-ins during the following times: Race Course Map Wednesday, August 16: 12:00-5:00pm Thursday, August 17: 7:00am-end of racing Friday, August 18: 7:00am-end of racing Saturday, August 19: 7:24am-end of racing Sunday, August 20: 7:00am-end of racing Rowers will launch from the farthest two docks from the boathouse and recover on the two closest docks to the boathouse. Once shells launch, rowers will cross the race course. When crossing the race course, big yellow buoys will mark the traffic pattern and rowers must keep their port blades by the buoys. Rowers will then travel up in the far open water, outside of the lanes. Rowers have the ability to travel above the railroad bridge to warm up, but must not cut any of the red buoys. If rowers do not have time to go above the bridge, rowers are able to enter in the race course at the top of the course, and file in to their respected lanes. The race course lanes are marked by yellow signs stating LANE 1, LANE 2 etc. Lane 7 is the closest to the road, while Lane 1 is the farthest from the road. Once a rower finishes their race, rowers are instructed to row immediately into the recovery docks. Rowers who just finished their race must not cross the big yellow buoys that mark the traffic pattern. Rowers who just finished their race will file into the embayment and head to the recovery docks. Practice Course Map The practice traffic will follow the same rules as the race day traffic pattern. For practice, rowers are welcome to row up past the railroad bridge, as far as they would like. Rowers are at their own risk. Four

red buoys will be located above the railroad bridge and all boats must not cut a buoy. Right hand rule will apply above the bridge. Rowers are then allowed to row down the course in any of the lanes. Rowers must look out for the individual docks that will be placed 500m into the straight away.

Team Tents Oak Ridge Rowing Association is providing teams with the opportunity to rent tents and spaces in the viewing area for the regatta. Teams are not allowed to set up a tent or viewing space anywhere outside of this area. Rental fees will cover from Wednesday, August 16th - Sunday, August 20th. All team tent and space areas will be placed within great viewing of the race, along the peninsula. Teams will have no say in where their tent is placed, but it will be marked and there will be guidance from the LOC when teams arrive on site. Payment will be invoiced to the below "Billing Contact Email" and should be paid by August 7th. If it is not paid, the spot will no longer be reserved. Please email the Regatta Director at smcauliffe@orra.org with any questions! We are looking forward to a GREAT event in Oak Ridge, TN! Click here for online registration form. Coaches, Coxswains, and Blind Boat Meeting The Coaches, Coxswains, and Blind Boat Meeting will be held at 5:30pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

The meeting will be recorded live, and posted to the USRowing YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/usrowingorg Any crew unable to attend on Wednesday evening should view this video prior to racing at the venue. If you do not wish to be added, please notify USRowing by email: alvin@usrowing.org To subscribe, text the word USRowing to 313131. You will receive a confirmation message if your registration has processed properly. Only weather-related schedule changes will be texted, results will not be sent via text messaging. Medal and Trophy Pick-up

Crews returning trophies from the 2016 regatta should contact Grant Golub at grant@usrowing.org for information. Medals and trophies will be distributed throughout each day as results of finals become official. Crews should stop by the awards area, when their schedule allows, to collect their medals and trophies. Team point trophies will be awarded once racing has been completed on Sunday, August 20. Shell Rental Pickup Rowers renting shells should have made prior arrangements with ORRA. Shell pick up will be located in the Oak Ridge Rowing Association boathouse. A table labeled Shell Rental Pick Up will be located in the first bay of the boathouse. The volunteer at this table will then guide you to your shell rental for that day. Rowers renting a shell must bring the shell back to the boathouse immediately after their last row for the day. Parking Oak Ridge Rowing Association is providing off site parking with a shuttle bus that will run from the venue to the off site location, Roane State Community College, which is 5 minutes away. Rowers should drive to 701 Briarcliff Ave. Oak Ridge, TN 37830 and they will find LOC volunteers directing you where to park. Parking in this off site location is $8 a day. A shuttle will pick up at both this location and the boathouse every 15 minutes. Rowers are encouraged to park off site to keep traffic to a minimum on the road. Free parking is available along the road on Melton Lake Drive. Rowers and spectators are not welcome to park down any residential streets that are marked No Parking. Car Top Shell Parking Rowers that are transporting their shells on top of their car will pull into the boathouse parking lot, following the signs. Volunteers will guide you through the parking lot. Cars will be parked on the back half of the parking lot, rowers will be able to unload their shells into the marked grassy area. Rowers are then to remove their cars immediately and either park along the road or the offsite parking area explained above. Rowers MUST bring slings or t s to hold their boat, as rack room is extremely limited.
