We know there is a bull to fit everyone s needs. New this year on the Black side of things is Isla Bank Angus. Iain is no stranger to the cattle business, Isla Bank was established in 1938 and Iain being the third generation to carry the name. Their black yearling bulls will prove to fit in with ours very well. This year has seen a record crop, lots of grass and a solid cattle market. Fat price on cattle is up and the future is looking good. Combine this with $2.50 barley (and lots of it) and the economics of beef is great. So it is time to act on the cattle market and bring in top notch bulls to help you maximize your profits. Long Yearlings... We are very pleased with this group of fall bulls!! Like always, our fall cows and their calves are a very self-sufficient group of cattle. All calves are born unassisted on grass, then they are kept on the cow their first winter and weaned in May. The bulls then go to their own pasture until mid-october to grow and develop. Our sires - Mystic 16X and Red Howe Bold Future 86T are extremely consistent and this pen is proof of that. All the fall bulls are sired by these two. This pen of bulls is thick, hairy and very consistent (black or red). They carry above average testicle and move extremely well. The "bang for your buck" on these bulls will be great. They can cover more cows, will reach larger, exotic cross cows and are low enough birth weights if you have a large group of heifers to breed. Because of their consistency, this is the only footnote I felt was needed. 26. Welcome to the 6th Annual Ward's Red Angus and Guest Bull Sale. We are very excited to be part of this sale. Isla Bank Angus has been breeding purebred Black Angus since 1938 and Iain is the 3rd generation of Stables to offer quality Black Angus genetics. We have been carefully rebuilding the Isla Bank herd since Alastair and Christine dispersed in 2007 and have put together a strong group of bull calves to join Ward's this year. We would like to thank John, Miriam and Kerry Buswell at Halcyon Angus for allowing us to buy a group of cows from them, which accelerated our herd building. We couldn t be happier with these cows and the strong set of sale bulls they have given us. We raise our bulls carefully to ensure they hit your pasture with the condition they need to cover your cows but with soundness and longevity you expect out of your investment. The bulls were started on a legume based screenings pellet then switched to a pellet that included more cereal grains screenings to provide more energy during these cold winter months. The bulls also had access to high quality alfalfa/ grass hay. We try to hit the happy spot between too fat and too green. Each extreme has its problems as most of you know. Too fat and they ll melt away to nothing, too green and they won t have the energy to cover all your cows. All the bulls are on a complete herd health vaccination program and will be given a footrot vaccination prior to going to work for you. We have a range of genetics to offer you including sons of S A V Bismarck, HF Alaskan and Wilbar Tigershark. If you are looking for calving ease specialists with added growth, the Bismarck and Tigershark calves fit the bill. If you want a little more power while maintaining moderate birthweights, the Alaskan calves are some of the best you ll find anywhere.
