Club Championship CONGRATULATIONS CLUB CHAMPIONS The 2011 Club Championship weekend proved to be full of hot shots due to the weather and the caliber of players participating. Your new 2011 Men s Golf Association Club Champion is Ben Snow who posted two subpar rounds of 69, 68 and a Sunday round of 75. Mr. Snow proved to have the tournament in his grasps after the second day and played conservatively on Sunday to win by six shots. The 2011 Senior Club Champion is Ronnie Lott. Mr. Lott pulled away from the field with an even par 71 score on Sunday and posted a very respectable two-day total score of 149 to secure the title. The Open flight, which consisted of Members under the age of 50 and not competing for the overall Club Championship, was conquered by Chris Ainsworth. The Senior Flight B was won by John Johnson and the Super Senior flight comprised of players 65 years old and over was won by Mike McClellan. Thank you to all who braved the temperatures and the challenging course set-up. You made the event a success!

TALK WITH GOLF PRO, TREY Wrong: Using the prongs as levers to push up the bottom of the depression. Right: Using the prongs to push grass at the edge of the depression toward the center. Summer Course MAINTENANCE The Golf Course will be Closed Tuesday, July 5 th through Friday, July 15 th for Course Maintenance and Beautification. This time allows our Maintenance Staff to perform a wall to wall aerification, wall-to-wall organic fertilization and permits adequate recovery time. Now would be the perfect time to plan your Summer golf vacation during this week. Contact the Proshop if you need any help in planning your trip. Repairing ball marks is a big part of the obligation to the game of golf. A ball mark can cause the grass in the depression to die, leaving not just a scar, but also a pit or depression in the putting surface that can knock well-struck putts offline. Repairing a ball mark restores a smooth putting surface and helps keep the grass healthy. Repairing those little depressions is very important. Equally important is doing it the right way. If done incorrectly, it can actually cause more damage than not attempting to repair it at all. Because many golfers fail to repair ball marks -- as evident at courses you and I both play -- it is now our duty to educate and remind others to care for the course. It isn t just a matter of proper golf etiquette, is our obligation to help take care of the golf courses we play. The first step in repairing ball marks is to take your ball mark repair tool and insert the prongs into the turf at the edge of the depression. Note: DO NOT insert the prongs into the depression itself, but at the rim of the depression. The next step, is to push the edge of the ball mark toward the center, using your ball mark repair tool in a gentle twisting motion, in the words of the GCSAA. Once you ve worked around the rim of the ball mark with your repair tool, push the grass toward the center, there s only one thing left to do: Gently tap down the repaired ball mark with your putter or foot to smooth the putting surface. You will know when your ball mark is repaired when you would feel comfortable putting over that spot. Once you have properly repaired the ball mark, admire your work and pat yourself on the back for helping to take care of your golf course.
