OPEN DAY S e p t e m b e r 2 0 1 8 Welcome to our Open day. As you know this is my second season and I am very grateful for all those of you that have invested and supported me through my first season. I remind myself daily how privileged I am to have such fantastic owners and horses. Last season was challenging to say the least, the weather was unforgiving with so much rain it put pay to a lot of race planning. However, a er such a dry summer I am now praying daily for rain! We have some exciting new horses joining us this season plus new owners. I am very much looking forward to the season with more quality horses in the yard. Jade and I would like to thank our team of ever enthusiastic staff who come to work through rain and shine, they have been a real credit to us and I hope that you will see today how well cared for and turned out the horses are. the horse s well-being is paramount here at Higher peckmoor and we pride ourselves in nurturing them to their full potential. jackbarberracing.co.uk 1

HORSES IN TRAINING 2018-19 AMZAC MAGIC (GB) 2007 b.g. by milan (Gb) ex Queen s banquet (Gb) (Glacial Storm (USA)) Tony Hayward FORM 53- He is a lightly raced six-year-old, running twice last season at taunton and exeter, having come back from a tendon injury. His first run at taunton he ran very freely, it took him three quarters of the race to settle finishing fi h in a large field. He came third at exeter and he has one more run to get a handicap mark and then he will go handicap hurdling. He has come in stronger this season and more relaxed with a good attitude to his work. ASK THE WEATHERMAN (GB) 2009 b.g. by tamure (Ire) ex Whatagale (Gb) (Strong Gale (Ire)) David Martin & Paul Barber FORM 1PPP- OR 133c He won first time out in November at exeter carrying the mighty weight of 12st 4lbs. We then aimed him for the Welsh National which he didn t get home in, the ground was unforgiving and Nick reported a wind issue. this reappeared in the next two runs and he had a wind operation this summer. I hope to run him in a few three-mile handicaps and fingers crossed he will feel a whole lot more comfortable. jackbarberracing.co.uk 3

HORSES IN TRAINING 2018-19 BALLYKNOCK CLOUD (IRE) 2011 gr.g. by Cloudings (Ire) ex ballyknock present (Ire) (presenting (Gb)) Ballyknock Cloud Syndicate FORM 1P7- OR 120h He won his novice first time out at Southwell on good ground at the end of October. I then ran him at taunton in December and we realised he could not handle the so ground, we had to be patient and wait until April a er the wet winter, at this stage he had gone over the top. He is a prime example of being a victim of the dreadful wet winter. He will go novice chasing this season. DARCY WARD (FR) 2013 b.g. by Doctor Dino (Fr) ex Alzasca (Fr) (Grape tree road (Gb)) Phil Fry & Charlie Walker FORM 1162- OR 127h Won first time out at the beginning of January at taunton. He is not one that likes the so ground but we got away with it that day. He then went to Wincanton in march on heavy ground where he did not perform one bit. He finished off his season in April in a novice hurdle at taunton finishing second to a promising horse. I feel he has much promise and will be one to watch, as long as we get the ground he should deliver this season. DOYANNIE (IRE) 2014 ch.m. by Doyen (Ire) ex Annie may (Ire) (Anshan (Gb)) Richard Barber She is a lovely big scopey mare, who was on the weaker side, so we took our time. We had her ready for a bumper at the end of the season and on reaching the course she came off the lorry lame so never ran. She has come in a lot stronger and filled out into herself. I will look to run her in a bumper in the New Year. EARTH SPIRIT (GB) 2013 b.g. by black Sam bellamy (Ire) ex Samandara (Fr) (Kris (Gb)) Mrs Catherine Penny FORM 9 A big horse who has been with me for a few seasons now. He has always been on the weaker side. We ran him towards to the end of the season in a bumper at exeter where the ground was just too quick and he wouldn t let himself go. He has come in a completely different horse and is a lot stronger a er his summer break. I shall aim to run him in a novice hurdle before Christmas. jackbarberracing.co.uk 5
