You are taking part in an exciting event and we are thrilled to have you! Our teams are working hard with the final preparations to ensure a safe and fun race. Enclosed in this pre- race package you will find important information about registration, parking, and other race logistics. Please print this and take a moment to review. Also, if you are in town on Saturday morning, March 7th, we highly encourage you to attend the ITU elite races to see some fast competition (see the race timeline on our website for important information if you plan to attend these events). PRE- RACE LOGISTICS PACKET PICK UP AND THE MANDATORY MEETING There will be ONE mandatory meeting on RACE DAY ONLY at the race venue. So, please plan to arrive to the race venue no later than 6:30 AM (for the girls) and 7:00 AM (for the boys) on race morning, Sunday, March 8nd. You will check in and receive our race packet at this time. The girls need to arrive earlier to check in and set up their equipment as they are the first race in the morning. The one combined race meeting for all F1 athletes (boys and girls) will start at 7:35 AM at the race venue on the beach (near the swim start). During this meeting we will cover important race details and rules. The girls should be racked and ready to go prior to this meeting; the boys will have an opportunity to go back to the transition area after the meeting to set up their equipment. RACE NUMBERS The following items will help identify you during the race: Bike Frame Number must be attached so the number is visible from both sides of your bike. Helmet Number must be attached to the front of the your bike helmet. The Timing Chip must be worn on one of your ankles during the entire event. You will pick up the timing chip on the beach at the swim start. RACE DAY TIMELINE AND PARKING SUNDAY, MARCH 8 (**Daylight Savings Time Starts on Saturday night move your clocks forward) Please adhere to the following schedule: 6:30 AM The F1 GIRLS should be in the venue at this time. The venue is Lake Louisa State Park (7305 U.S. Highway 27, Clermont, FL). NOTE: bring $5 per car (cash) for the parking fee to get in the park. Once you are in the venue, go to the athlete check in area, pick up your number and head to the transition area to rack your bike. The TA will close at 7:30 am for the F1 GIRLS. 7:00 AM The F1 BOYS should be in the venue at this time. Head on down to the beach for the pre- race meeting. Leave your bikes outside of the transition area. 7:30 AM Transition Area Closes (for the F1 GIRLS) 7:35 AM Pre- race meeting for ALL F1 athletes on the beach at the swim start. Following the pre- race meeting the F1 GIRLS will immediately be called to the starting line. 7:55 AM F1 GIRLS - Race Starts 8:25 AM Transition Area Closes (for the F1 Boys). F1 BOYS head down to the beach. 8:50 AM F1 BOYS Race Starts *No parking is allowed anywhere else in the park including along Park Drive (within the park). All athletes and spectators MUST use the main event parking lot. *The back entrance of the park will be used for exiting the park. All athletes and spectators will be able to leave the race venue anytime using the back entrance. We will have one combined awards ceremony for the F1 races after both events. Please note that following the Youth F1 events we have three other events to stage back to back after each other. Stick around to see some fun draft legal racing!
COURSE INFORMATION 375 meter swim / 10k bike (TWO LAPS) / 2.5k run (ONE LAP) The race venue located inside of the Lake Louisa State Park offers an ideal place for a triathlon. Just a short drive from Orlando, Lake Louisa State Park is noted for its six beautiful lakes, rolling hills, and scenic landscapes. Lake Louisa is the largest in a chain of 13 lakes connected by the Palatlakaha River, which is designated as an Outstanding Florida Waterway. The entire race course is closed to traffic. The 375 meter swim takes place from a beach start in a clear lake with average temperature ranging in the high 60's F. Please plan to bring a wetsuit just in case. Following the swim, the race will take athletes on a TWO loop bike course on a well paved and fast road. After completing the 10k bike course, athletes will complete ONE loop of the run course. OTHER INFORMATION Remember to Bring your ID Remember to bring your ID to packet pick up. No ID = no race packet. No exceptions. Bring Sunscreen. Athletes and spectators should be prepared that there is little shelter from the sun (or weather). Bring sunscreen, hats, etc. Post Race Food. Athletes will have access to free food (bagels, fruit) and beverage following the race. Plan to bring other nourishment food as you see necessary. Bring a camera! There will be many photo opportunities, during the race (for your spectator friends) as well as at the post- race ceremony. YOUTH F1 Event Top 10 1. The pre- race briefing is mandatory (on race morning) 2. Time penalties assessed as stop and go with verbal warning or in the Penalty Box. 3. Wetsuits are not allowed above 20 C (68 F). 4. Athletes must move forward after the start signal. 5. Blocking or interfering with the forward progress of another competitor is not allowed. 6. The lap out rule will NOT be in effect for the F1 race. ALL athletes must finish within 50 minutes of the start time or they will be pulled from the race course. 7. Helmet chin- strap must be buckled at all times while touching the bike. 8. All equipment must be placed in your individual transition bin after use. 9. Torso must be covered from race start to finish. 10. Bicycle must have a traditional triangular frame; wheels must have at least 16 spokes; handlebars must be traditional drop- style with bar- ends plugged; clip- on aerobars may not extend beyond the brake levers foremost line and must be bridged; no bar- end gear shifters allowed. If your equipment does NOT meet these requirements you will be moved to the non- drafting age group race.
