IN EXPLANATION In March 2001, 73 physicians from 23 countries, had a meeting with the Dreyfus Health Foundation in London. Physicians from each of these countries discussed various uses of phenytoin. Before the meeting was completed, it was clear that representatives of these countries understood the versatility of this remarkable medicine. As expressions of appreciation, each of the 23 countries presented me with beautiful gifts, along with compliments. I deeply appreciate these gifts. But it should be made clear that the remarkable substance phenytoin deserves the compliments. Jack Dreyfus The following gifts are in alphabetical order.
AFRICA Wooden stool presented in honor of a person who has done great things for his community in this case, in honor of Jack Dreyfus who has contributed so much to Africa through phenytoin. 1

CHINA Two Chinese scrolls depicting Autumn and Winter (to complete the set of Scrolls of the Four Seasons given during the Regional presentations). Together, the four scrolls represent the seasons of life. They are given in recognition of Jack s gifts of health to Asia and China in particular. 9
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Wire sculpture of a bull pulling a cart full of sugar cane (made by the handicapped); representing the heart and soul of the Dominican Republic, the sculpture is presented in gratitude for Jack Dreyfus commitment to the health of the Dominican people. 10
EL SALVADOR Handpainted lithograph, Flor de la Manana (Morning Flower); presented to a great man, Jack Dreyfus, who has brought the morning light and the promise of the sun to the life and health of the people of El Salvador. 11
GHANA Shadow box of six bronze musicians representing the beautiful music of life and health that Jack Dreyfus has brought to the people of Ghana including those suffering with Buruli ulcers and many other problems. 12
INDIA Bronze statue of Siva, the Hindu god and member of the supreme Hindu trinity; a vital symbol of India presented to a great human being who has cared so much for the life and health of the people of India (one billion) and indeed the whole world. 13
INDONESIA Painted wooden owl, a symbol of great wisdom and genius; presented to Jack Dreyfus in recognition of his great wisdom genius and for his life-giving commitment to the people of Indonesia. 14
JORDAN Wooden box painted and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, a symbol of Jordan and its people. The box is meant to hold a treasure and a treasure is what Jack has brought to the people of Jordan a treasure of better health. 15
LITHUANIA Woven sash worn by a man to show achievement, distinction, and honor. Jack Dreyfus is a man of the greatest distinction and honor for what he has done for the health of Lithuanians. 16
MALI Carved wooden door with latch, used to protect one s most precious possessions. The door is a symbol of the great value which the Malian people attach to the life and work of Jack Dreyfus. 17
NIGERIA Carved market scene depicting the people of Nigeria. It is given in recognition of all that Jack Dreyfus has given to the people of Nigeria through his life and work with phenytoin. It is given in recognition of a great human being. 18
POLAND Diploma in recognition of Mr. Dreyfus as an honored member of the Polish Society of Hygiene. This is the highest honor the Society can give. It is given in recognition of the great scientific and health achievements for the benefit of the people of Poland and the world. It is given only with the approval of the full Board of the Society. Jack was given this great award by unanimous vote of the Board for all he has done for humankind. 19
ROMANIA Woven, fringed mat (two figures, beiges and greys). Given in recognition of what Jack Dreyfus has brought to the health and lives of the Romanian people. It also represents an invitation to him to visit our country so that we can thank him even more. Those whose burns have been healed (and their pain taken away) by phenytoin would especially like to thank Jack. 20
TANZANIA Two wooden figurines (male and female) representing the people of Tanzania. They are given as symbols of the deep appreciation of the Tanzanian people for what Jack has done and is doing for them. The children of Tanzania are especially grateful to Jack because the phenytoin he has brought them is healing their burns and providing them with relief of their pain. 21
UKRAINE Carved wooden plate representative of the heart and soul of the Ukraine, a new country that is very grateful to Jack Dreyfus for the health and life that Jack has brought to the Ukrainian people. 22
ZAMBIA Copper clock in the shape of the country of Zambia. The Zambian people presented this clock as a symbol of their very deep gratitude for Jack Dreyfus commitment to help them improve their health and lives. Copper is a great national resource for Zambia. What Jack has brought them with phenytoin is also a very great resource (treasure) for the people of Zambia. The Zambian people hope that he will look at the clock frequently and be reminded of how much they appreciate what he has done for them. 23
