It s Much More Than Just A Horse Show! The National Reining Breeders Classic will return to Texas in 01 for the 15th anniversary of the prestigious event. During the prestigious, seven-day event, reiners from all across the globe compete for their share of the over $1.4 million record-breaking payout! This prominent event will be held April 16- at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, just west of Houston. As in the past, the NRBC is expected to attract contestants, owners and spectators from all over the nation and world; as well as local equine enthusiasts and targeted media. The 01 NRBC Show features seven days of reining competition, plus a trade show area for display and sampling. There also are a variety of hospitality venues and social events to entertain clients and guests. Upon arrival, attendees are immersed in an enjoyable, laid-back atmosphere. This aspect is part of what makes the NRBC so unique and keeps people coming back year after year. With plenty of in-arena opportunities to school horses, exhibitors don t have to stay up all night long to make the final tune-ups on their mount. That makes more time for fun, all of which is provided by the NRBC from Reiner s Golf to NRBC Texas Hold em fun events and parties can be found everyday at the NRBC. Whether it s a delicious cup of coffee at the Life is Good Coffee Shop, to the sumptuous food at the draw and victory parties, there are a million ways to enjoy quality time with friends old and new. It s all part of the NRBC experience, and each year there s something special to enjoy! Because of its large purse, beautiful awards and unique atmosphere, the NRBC attracts a broad cross-section of the equine media world and is featured in countless magazines and newspapers around the world. Reining competitions are thrilling events for spectators. They include multiple divisions to enable riders at all levels and horses at various stages of skill to participate, learn and improve as they master the intricacies of one of the most exciting equine sports ever. The NRBC show includes classes for world class reiners as well as kids and entry-level contestants. Open Classic Competition will feature OVER 00 riders in Open, Intermediate Open, Limited Open and Level 1 Open competition. The NRBC also showcases a large slate of NRHA ancillary events to help exhibitors qualify for NRHA year-end awards. From the $5,000 Added Open reining to the Short Stirrup class for reiners age 10 and under, everyone gets the chance to compete at the NRBC. Everybody is Somebody at the NRBC!

What is the National Reining Breeders Classic? The National Reining Breeders Classic is, quite simply, the most successful show and stallion incentive program in performance horse history. Enrolled foals from subscribed stallions are eligible to compete for big money as 4-, 5- and 6-year olds, and when reenrolled in the Classic Challenge program, horses age 7 and up can compete in the newly added Classic Challenge events. The program was created in the fall of 1997 when a group of reining breeders created a stallion incentive program named the National Reining Breeders Cup. The entity s first goal was an enrollment of 100 stallions, a number that was quickly surpassed. The list of sires enrolled soon read like a Who s Who of the reining industry. Currently there are over 00 stallions enrolled in the NRBC. Foal enrollments followed suit, and the enrollment numbers have spiked steadily upward each year, with over 8,000 total foals enrolled. Now with the re-enrollment of horses, at age 7, into the Classic Challenge Program, numbers continue to sky-rocket. The first show, held at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in 1998, was an instant classic, setting the stage for the name change later that year to National Reining Breeders Classic. The show was held at the Lazy E venue for the first three years, and then moved to its current location at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. In the beginning, the show was reserved for 4- and 5-year-old reining horses, but later it was expanded to include horses age 4 through 6. Then, in 011 the new Classic Challenge was added to include horses age 7 and up. The program and show continues to grow and continues to offer next exciting options for exhibitors and owners. The NRBC is one of the most lucrative venues in the world to show reining horses, with payouts of over $1 million each year since 005 and new record numbers set each year. Horse show classes that take place at the NRBC are sanctioned by the National Reining Horse Association and earnings from the NRBC count toward NRHA Lifetime Earnings records. Additionally, each year the NRBC hosts a United States Equestrian Federation qualifying event. In 008, the NRBC Non Pro Classic had the largest Aged Event Non Pro class in NRHA history.* 3 *Unofficially 100% of each year s foal enrollment dollars goes to added money of the show four years later. In other words, the 01 show added money comes from the,763 foals that were enrolled in 008. The 01 foal money will be used for the 016 event. NRBC Foal Enrollments total over 8,000! Enrolled Stallions NATIONAL REINING BREEDERS CLASSIC Stallion owners pay an annual enrollment fee of $1,50 due on February 1 of each year and they assist in the promotion of the NRBC by informing mare owners about the NRBC, using its logo in their advertising, distributing NRBC information to mare owners, and mailing NRBC nomination forms to the owners of each live foal at the time they provide a Breeders Certificate. Stallions are promoted by the NRBC through listings on www.nrbc.com, regular advertising, press releases, brochures and materials distributed at major events, as well as in the annual Show Program, the annual Newsletter and the annual Yearbook. Plus, each year, the NRBC creates a commemorative/promotional video that is sent to each stallion owner. For more information on enrolling a stallion, please contact the NRBC office at 580-759-3939, or go to www.nrbc.com. Number of horse owners,000,000 Number of owners involved in breeding 38,000 Number involved in competition 481,000 Number involved in other activities 1,100,000 Number of service providers 119,000 Number of full- and part-time employees 70,000 Number of family members and volunteers,000,000 In America, 1 out of every 63 Americans is involved with horses. When the multiplier effect of spending by industry suppliers and employees is taken into account, the national industry has a $5. billion ($5,00,000,000) impact on the Texas economy. If off-site spending of spectators was also taken into account, it would result in an even higher figure. There are 455,600 Texans involved in the industry as horse owners, service providers, employees and volunteers. Even more participate as spectators. The Texas horse industry directly provides 3,00 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs. Spending by suppliers and employees (in Texas and other states) generates additional jobs in Texas for a total employment impact of 96,300. NRBC Sponsors receive exposure year-round.
