Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need NOT be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to qualify both owner and the rider/exhibitor need to be a current showing member and present their valid Qualifier card IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for the appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held on 31 st August-2 nd September 2017. The two highest placed exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the relevant Equifest Championship to be held at the East of England Showground on the 9 th -13 th August 2017. M&M in Hand Classes The NPS/HIGHBROOK STUD M&M in Hand Summer Championship These classes are open to pure bred registered M&M ponies in the main body of their studbook. Owner s membership cards must be shown in the ring to receive qualifications. Foals are not eligible. The NPS/SARACEN HORSE FEED M&M Home Produced In Hand National Championship These classes are open to pure bred registered M&M ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January in the current year have not been shown by a producer or stabled in a producer s yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. To be owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not derive their main income from working with horses/ponies. No professional producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the horse/pony. Please see NPS 2017 Rule Book, Sec A, 3.6. Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above will be disqualified. These classes also qualify for the Equifest Mountain & Moorland In Hand Championship. No spurs, no galloping and no wearing of any face/body jewellery. Foals are not permitted in SSADL classes. For In Hand classes the minimum age of the handler is 9 years old. For Stallions in either In Hand or Ridden classes the competitor must be 16 years or over. Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command to trot has been given. THE SAME RIDER/HANDLER/PONY/HORSE COMBINATION MUST STAY THE SAME FROM FIRST/SECOND QUALIFIERS AND GRAND FINAL. ALL COMPETITORS SHOULD AQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH SSADL RULES BEFORE ENTERING. RING 4 Hotline Electric Fencing Retraining of Racehorses Classes Judge: Mrs L Hamilton Ride Miss B Lovell-Williams - Conformation 39** The RoR Jockey Club Novice Ridden Show Horse Class Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over on 1 st January. To take part in this class, horses must NOT have won an open class. (inc. SEIB/HOYS, RoR Tattersalls Show Series Qualifier, TARRA Ridden, RoR AMATEUR Ridden Show Series Qualifier or any other open class except RoR TBA Challenge Show Series classes). Horses will be de-noviced after 3 novice wins or any open win, but is still eligible to compete at the RoR Aintree show that August. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the RoR National Show at Aintree in August 2017. All entries MUST be registered with the ROR and have RACED in GB. The class will be run under the rules of RoR. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge; each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than 1 ½ minutes to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, Canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Horses will be stripped for conformation. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse s last run in a race (NH or Flat) should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Racing injuries and blemishes are NOT ignored in this series. The series is open to AMATUERS only those employed in racing will be allowed to compete. Class will be judged under a riding horse format without type being taken into consideration. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer s/trainer s yard (in the current season or previous season. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not have received any help from a Professional/Trainer at a SHOW in the current or previous season. Horses must not have been ridden at a show by a rider who has ridden for a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Any breaches of this ruling will be taken seriously and will result in disqualification from future classes. RING 4 JeeGee Horse Bedding Side Saddle Classes Judge: Mrs L Hamilton Commencing NOT BEFORE 12.00pm THESE CLASSES ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE 41 Equitation Championships Open Qualifying Class Run under SSA Rules defined in the Current Member s Handbook. Open to SSA Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Points Championship Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3 rd Adult and 3 rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1 st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. 42 Classical Ladies Side Saddle Qualifier Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-Members, aged 18 and over on January 1 st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh). To be judged 25% conformation and action, 25% manners and way of going, 25% rider and 25% turnout of horse and rider, by a SHBGB, BHSA, BSPS, P(UK) or SSA panel judge. Judges may request a short show, but will not ride exhibits. Horses will not be stripped. Traditional habits must be worn. Fancy Dress and Period Costumes NOT permitted. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. Judges are requested to use the mark sheet provided. The highest placed horse/rider combination qualifies for the Final to be held at the National Side Saddle Show. In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Special rosettes are offered by T Mitchell to the winner and if the winner has already qualified, a second rosette is awarded with the Qualification Card. Qualifying combinations are required to become Full Members of the SSA 21 days prior to the National Side Saddle Show or as soon as possible if qualified after that date to be eligible to compete at the Final. Combinations qualifying between one National Side Saddle Show and the next may carry forward the qualification, for that year only. The highest placed Riding Horse, Hack (not exceeding 160cm), Cob or Hunter, Mare or Gelding, 4 years and over ridden by a SSA Adult Member qualifies for the current year s BSHA Championship Show Total Impact Equestrian Ladies Show Horse Championship and if already qualified the ticket will go to the next highest placed horse down to 5 th place. Combinations qualifying after the current year s BSHA Championship Show may carry forward the qualification to the following year. SSA Members who qualify for The Ladies Show Horse Championship, will not be required to join the BSHA in order to compete in any Side Saddle class at the BSHA National Championship Show. If the BSHA Championship Show entries have closed at the time of qualification, competitors will not be charged a late entry fee for the Championship. Stallions must be handled by persons over 14 years of age. 4. The Event will run under Pony Club Rules (www.pcuk.org) except the Show Jumping which will be run under British Show Jumping rules. 5. Entries are only accepted on this basis. 7. The organisers of this event have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present at this event. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents. They must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards. 8. All non Pony Club competitors are not covered by the Pony Club insurance and must have their own third party cover. The South Devon West Branch of The Pony Club and the organisers of this event are not legally responsible for non Members and their insurance will not cover you. 9. We strongly recommend that Body protectors are worn whilst jumping. 10. Any objections must be lodged with the secretary within 30 minutes of the end of the class and be accompanied by a deposit of 20 which will be refunded in the event of the objection being upheld. 11. The organisers have the right to cancel, add or amend any classes they see fit. 12. Any abuse of whips/spurs will not be tolerated and competitors will be asked to leave the show ground. 13. No horse/pony to jump in more than 3 classes. 14. The right is reserved to refuse entry without giving an explanation. 15. Due to our insurance all competitors must be 3 years or over. 16. NO DOGS ALLOWED ON SHOW GROUND except assistance dogs. 17. ALL HORSES/PONIES MUST HAVE UP TO DATE FLU VACCINATIONS AND PASSPORTS TO BE ALLOWED ENTRY ONTO THE SHOW GROUND. See requirements on first page of schedule. There will be spot checks on passports/vaccinations on entry to Showground. 18. The Judge s decision is final. 19. Hard Hats to current standards, with chin straps done up, MUST be worn by all riders at all times whilst mounted on the show ground.

20. NO entry fees will be refunded unless a valid doctor s or vet s certificate is produced. 21. Please do NOT muck out Lorries onto the Showground. 22. No change of saddlery allowed between phases in the Working Hunter ring. Horses may wear FRONT boots for the jumping phase only. 23. Practising in any ring will lead to disqualification from the days events unless it is a marked / designated warming up area. 24. All Suitability, Lead Rein and First Ridden classes must be ridden in snaffle bridles with cavesson nosebands only unless otherwise stated in schedule. 25. GROOMS MUST WEAR HATS AND BE CORRECTLY DRESSED TO ENTER RING. 26. If any of the show officials have any reason to suspect a rider has had, or might have had, a concussion injury on the show day, or at any time within the last 3 weeks, the rider will have to be seen by a doctor and signed off as fit to ride in order to be allowed to continue riding. NPS Mountain and Moorland Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breeds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 1st-3rd August 2017. The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The Owner s Membership cards MUST be produced in the ring when requested or the qualification will be forfeit. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships - These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 1st 3rd August 2017. SOUTH WEST PONY ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING RULES This show is a qualifier for the South West Pony Association Championships 31 st August 3 rd September 2017 to be held at The David Broome Event Centre, Crick, Gwent.
