2 POLICY STATEMENTS Eligible Players Juniors General play Count-back Ladies playing against men using men s card Score cards Failure to turn up for a competition Divisions and Prizes Entry Fees and Handicaps ELIGIBLE PLAYERS Entries are restricted to those players with an Active CONGU handicap, ie, those who have: a) returned three qualifying cards in the preceding 12 months (this includes competitions and supplementary cards). or: b) submitted 3 general cards in the last 3 months in order to establish a handicap. (Note: a player may enter a competition, without payment of entry fee, with the intention of using the card as a qualifying card but will be ineligible to win a prize in that competition. The player must indicate on the card that it is to be used as a qualifying card.) A player, having obtained a handicap under b) above, must enter 3 stroke-play competitions (no entry fee) before being eligible to receive a prize in such competitions. JUNIORS Please note that the Rules & Regulations of the Club state that juniors may play in senior competitions with a full or country member. There should be at least one full or country member playing with a junior in any competition. Therefore, three juniors should not sign up on the start sheet to play at the same tee time. In team competitions at least one player should be either a full or country member. Juniors may enter individual knockout competitions and play against another junior if drawn against them. GENERAL PLAY Rule 19 The committee is empowered to raise or lower a player s handicap if, in their opinion, his current playing ability is not reflected in his current playing handicap. Applicable only to Categories 2,3, & 4 creation and maintenance of Category 1 players is vested solely in the control of the S G U. COUNT-BACK In the event of a tie for the leading positions, there will be a card play-off (count-back) decided as follows: The best nett/stableford score on holes 10 18 and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on holes 13 18 and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on holes 16 18 and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on 18 th hole and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on holes 1 9 and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on holes 1 6 and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on holes 1 3 and if still a tie The best nett/stableford score on 1 st hole.

3 LADIES PLAYING AGAINST MEN In medal competitions ladies playing against men shall use the men s card. They shall have additional strokes based on the difference between the men s Standard Scratch Score and the ladies i.e. men playing off the white tees 2 strokes, men playing of the yellow tees 3 strokes. In stableford competitions ladies shall play off their own card. They shall have additional strokes based on the difference between the men s Standard Scratch Score and the ladies i.e. men playing off the white tees 1 stroke, men playing of the yellow tees 2 strokes. SCORE CARDS All score cards must be returned even if marked Nil Return or N/R. When the computer is set-up, scores should be entered and the signed card should then be placed in the competition card letter box. Players should realise that failure to follow these procedures makes the job of finalising the competition and posting the result very difficult indeed. Failure to follow the procedure may result in disciplinary action. Disqualifications during competitions shall be in accordance with the rules of golf. A player retiring hurt during a competition. The score of the retiring player must be signed for at the time of retirement. Procedure as follows player A is marking player B s card. Player B is marking player C s card. Player C is marking player A s card. Player A retires. Player C signs the card of player A, who then signs his own card. Player A must then sign Player B s card next to the last score written down. Player C then takes over the card of Player B and signs it at the end of the competition. FAILURE TO TURN UP FOR A COMPETITION Except in exceptional circumstances, anyone whose name is placed beside a start time for a competition and fails to turn up for that competition shall be required to pay the entry fee. Once the start sheet is in the Pro Shop members are deemed to have entered said competition. Failure to pay will result in the player being banned from club competitions for the following calendar month (this does not apply if a substitute is found). A player must start at the agreed time. If the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within 5 minutes after his starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is loss of the first hole in match play or two strokes at the first hole in stroke play. Otherwise the penalty for breach of this Rule is disqualification (Rule 6-3a). DIVISIONS AND PRIZES Competitions will be played in ONE division with Full handicap allowed. Prize vouchers will be awarded for 1 st to 8 th place in the major competitions and 1 st to 7 th place in the others. Entry fees will be 4 per player ENTRY FEES AND HANDICAPS Handicap Limits:- 18 in some Opens, 28 in all other competitions (unless otherwise stated). Junior handicap maximum 28 where applicable. SEVEN MAJOR CUP COMPETITIONS All the major cups to be played over 18 holes, medal scores off the white tees, maximum handicap 28. Ties for first place in any of the cups will be decided on count-back. See policy statement for interpretation.

4 SPRING CUP & BROWN CUP to be played in the Spring CLARKE CUP, ALCOMBE CUP & GRANT CUP to be played in the Summer TARR CUP & TODD CUP to be played in the Autumn The entry sheets will be posted prior to the competition as per the published competition schedule. Tee times will be reserved from 0700 to 1130 with an afternoon slot from 1300 to 1330. Players will be able to indicate a preferred starting time 0700-0750, 0800-0850, 0900-0950, 1000-1030, and 1230-1300. The seven major cup competitions will be drawn. The draw will take place one week before the competition and put on line and on the website. No alterations or additions can be made after the draw has been made except in exceptional circumstances (such alterations will be made by the Competition Secretary). On the day of the competition in the absence of the Secretary or Committee Member, the Professional can change the list. On the day of the competition players will sign the book and pay their entry fee in the Pro Shop. The cup will be awarded for the best nett score. The competition will be run in one division, with entry fees as agreed from time to time by the Committee. Prize vouchers will be awarded as follows: Cup winner - 50 Other prizes will be calculated based on the prize pot available from the entry fees paid. GOLD STAR Awarded to the player with the three best gross scores from the cups listed below, one score to count from each section. Section 1 - Spring Cup Brown Cup Section 2 - Clarke Cup Alcombe Cup Grant Cup Section 3 - Tarr Cup Todd Cup In the event of a tie the lowest gross score to count as the winner. Vouchers for the winner and runner-up. BEST NETT Awarded to the player with the four best nett scores from the seven major cups. One score to count from each section plus one other best nett from any section.

ECLECTIC CUP Total best gross score for each hole from the following competitions:- Spring Cup; Brown Cup; Clarke Cup; Alcombe Cup; Grant Cup; Tarr Cup; Todd Cup; Bushen Cup; Harry Gould Trophy; Summer Medal. Vouchers for the winner and runner-up. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP & TONY RIDLER Both competitions are played over 36 holes medal score. First 18 holes on the Saturday and the second 18 holes on the Sunday. The Club Championship is awarded to the best gross score over the two rounds. If a tie for the Championship, the result will be decided over a four hole play off, (1 st, 2 nd, 17 th and 18 th holes) and if still a tie, sudden death system will apply. The Tony Ridler Trophy to the best nett score over the two rounds. Tie for the Tony Ridler will be decided on count back as per policy statement. Maximum handicap for the Tony Ridler will be 28. Players will play off starting handicap for both rounds. However, cards for both days will be used for the calculation of handicaps after the Championship. 1 st Round: Draw to be made in handicap order. Lowest handicaps at the start of the field. 2 nd Round: The order will be according to the gross scores of the 1 st round, with the highest scores going off first. Optional sweep for best nett scores on each day. Hole positions to be changed for second day. Entries are restricted to those that have returned three qualifying cards in the preceding twelve months. Entries will only be accepted from those playing both days.

6 RULES AND FORMAT OF COMPETITIONS For other competitions a start sheet will be posted at least 14 days before the event. Competitors to enter their names and choose their playing partners in the times reserved: 0700-1130 and 1 hour in the afternoon (daylight permitting). Players may only enter their name and 2 partners names, A N Other or A Partner will not be accepted. The start sheet will close 24 hours before the competition starts. After that, changes can only be made by the Pro Shop or the Competition Secretary. For all competitions, except where drawn, competitors may not play before the first start time of 0700 (except in exceptional circumstances shift workers etc) but competitors may play after 1130 by reserving a start time in the Pro Shop. No block bookings may be made. Non-competitors may not play within twenty minutes of the official competition start time. On the day of the competition players will sign the book and pay their entry fee in the Pro Shop. In stroke play competitions players may play in threes or twos but not in fours. Except where special conditions apply when two or more players tie for first place, the winner shall be decided on count-back as per the policy statement.

If a tie for the 16 th place then it will be decided on count-back as per policy statement. The above qualify for a seeded singles matchplay knock-out. See MATCHPLAY KNOCKOUTS for details. (There are no Vouchers for this competition on the day) BUSHEN CUP 18 Hole Medal competition with a handicap limit of 28. White tees. Vouchers and Optional Sweep as per policy statement. CENTENARY TROPHY AND CENTENARY TANKARD 18 Hole Medal competition with a handicap limit of 28. White tees. Centenary Trophy for the best nett and the Tankard for the best gross score. Vouchers and Optional Sweep as per policy statement. HARRY GOULD CUP 18 Hole Stableford competition with a handicap limit of 28. White tees. Vouchers as per policy statement. SUMMER MEDAL AND HAYMAN RABBIT SUMMER MEDAL - 18 Hole Medal competition open to gents with a handicap limit of 28. White Tees. Vouchers and Optional Sweep will be awarded in one division. THE HAYMAN RABBIT is open to ladies and gents who have not previously won a club trophy. 18 hole competition with handicap limits gents 20 28, ladies 30 36 (additional strokes see policy statement). Ladies to receive additional shots as per schedule prior to the allowance. Gents white tees, Ladies red tees. Players should enter their names in the competitions book and pay an additional entry fee of 1. Voucher for winner of Hayman Rabbit.

MARTELL CUP To be played on the day of the AGM and the Cup presented by the Captain during his report. 18 Hole Par competition with a handicap limit of 28. White tees. Vouchers as per policy statement. MASSEY POYNTZ To be played on prize giving day and presented that evening. 18 Hole Par competition with a handicap limit of 28. White tees. Vouchers as per policy statement. MILLENNIUM TROPHY 18 Hole Medal competition with a handicap limit of 28. White tees. Vouchers as per policy statement. SIMPLICITY BOX 18 Hole Medal competition, open to Gents and Ladies. Handicap limits: Gents 28, Ladies 36. Gents white tees, Ladies red tees. Ladies to receive additional shots as per schedule prior to the allowance. A maximum of 7 clubs allowed, but increase handicap by two shots for every club less than 7 taken. Vouchers will be awarded in one division. 8 Captain of the day decides the format. CAPTAIN S DAY R N L I 18 hole Stableford competition with handicap limit of 28. White tees. 50% of the entry fee to be donated to RNLI. Management Committee to decide entry fee. Vouchers as per policy statement. CLUB STABLEFORD 18 Hole Stableford competition. White Tees. Handicap limit: 28. Vouchers as per policy statement. ARTIZANS TROPHY 36 Hole medal competition. White Tees. Two rounds to be played on the same day. Handicap Limit:28 Ties to be decided on count-back as per the policy statement. Second round to be used first. Vouchers will be awarded in one division. FAGG TROPHY 18 Hole Stableford Competition to be played (usually) on a Wednesday evening the first week of June. Handicap limits: Gents 28, Ladies 36. Gents yellow tees, Ladies red tees. Open to Club Members and past members of the original H H FAGG Golf Society. Vouchers as per policy statement.

Draw for the first round, subsequent rounds to be held fortnightly or at the discretion of the committee, a preliminary round will be held on the preceding Saturday if necessary. The first round to be held on the first Sunday in October. Handicap allowance ¾ from the lowest handicap player. Competitors may not increase their handicap during the competition, but if their handicap is reduced they must play off the lower handicap. Substitutes players in the consolation competition may play with a substitute partner provided that the new partner was entered in the original competition. The team then decides which is the better ball and marks it with a tee peg or coin. 3. On the fairways or semi-rough the other balls are dropped within one club length of the marker, but not nearer the hole, after the selected ball has been played. 4. In the rough or in a bunker the other balls are dropped as near to the marker as possible but not nearer the hole after the selected ball has been played. 5. When the balls have reached the putting surface the team will select one ball, mark it, and immediately pick up the others. 6. The team will then all make a putt from this spot. The owner of the ball putting first. The procedure is repeated until the ball is holed. 7. The total score for the hole is one shot from each position (including the drive) until the ball is holed. 8. Minimum of 3 tee shots per team player to be selected. 9. All other rules of golf apply. 15 SKINS RULES 1. Juniors not permitted to play. 2. Pairs, select own partners, off the white tees. 3. The format will consist of a qualifying round over 18 holes with the top four pairs proceeding to the ultimate skins match played over our inner 10 holes: i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,14,15,16,17 and 18. (Or 7 holes: i.e. 1,2,3,15,16,17,18) 4. In the event of a tie in the qualifying round the countback rule will apply (nett scores). 5. The qualifier and skins match will be based on a medal score with both partners scores being added together. Full handicap allowance applies. 6. In the skins match it is medal matchplay and handicap is deducted (if due) from the combined scores after each hole to give a nett score. Stroke index as per card. 7. The skins match will be played using the same format as the qualifying round but with the added skins element. 8. To win a skin (hole) no two scores can be the same the lowest combined nett score of one pair wins the skin. 9. If a skin is not won its value is added to the next hole. All qualifying pairs will play the same hole at the same time. If a skin is unresolved upon completion of the 18 th, all teams will proceed down the 1 st. This competition will continue to be played off full handicap. 10. Order of play for skins will be drawn for the first hole and then lowest pairs nett tee off.
