Louise Oosthuizen loosthuizen@kingsmead.co.za 21 March 2010 Dear Parents RE: RIVERSIDE HOCKEY FESTIVAL: 30 TH JULY 1 ST AUGUST Our U12A and U13A hockey teams have been invited to take part in the annual Riverside Hockey Festival in Vanderbijlpark which runs from Friday 30 th July to Sunday, 1 st August 2010. Your daughter has been selected to represent Kingsmead College at the Riverside Hockey Festival. This is a huge achievement and a wonderful opportunity for your daughter. The girls always look forward to this occasion which is superbly organized. Congratulations on this achievement! The girls accompanied by Amber Fletcher and myself, Mrs Oosthuizen, will be staying in the Riverside Hotel. They will play their matches during the course of Saturday and Sunday. The girls will leave school by bus on Friday at approximately 12:00 and return to Kingsmead on Sunday afternoon. Parents of the girls playing are welcome to travel to Vanderbijlpark on Sunday to watch the matches and then stay on for the carvery at the Riverside Hotel. Booking is essential. The cost of the lunch is R135 per person and R67.50 per child under 12 years of age. The cost of this trip which includes accommodation, contingency, transport, a team photo and meals is R1250 per pupil. This will be debited to your account. Please fill in the required permission slip and indemnity form for your daughter to attend this festival. I would appreciate this reply slip and the indemnity form being returned to me by Friday, 28 th May 2010. Please ensure that your daughter has the correct sports attire for the festival. All girls are to wear the normal Kingsmead hockey kit i.e. Kingsmead white shirt, Kingsmead skort (no shorts), Yellow socks, gum guard and a water bottle. In case of cold weather, girls are allowed to wear the Kingsmead Fleece top, but will not be allowed to play matches in it. It would be highly appreciated if you could ensure that your daughter has the Kingsmead tracksuit. Parents are welcome to contact me with regards to this upcoming festival. GENERAL INFORMATION The Festival is run on a round robin format and matches will vary in length on each day +/- 20 minutes one way. The players will receive certificates of participation. A general First Aid Kit will be at the fields and ice will be available at all times. If players require special medication, please ensure that you bring this with you! In cases of emergency the players will be taken to the CORMED 24 hour Emergency Clinic in Vanderbijl Park. There will be a tuck shop operating at the fields throughout the Festival. RIVERSIDE HOTEL SCHOOLS HOCKEY FESTIVAL DIRECTIONS TO VAAL TECHNIKON HOCKEY FIELDS (IZAK STEYL STADIUM) AND THE RIVERSIDE HOTEL FROM JOHANNESBURG VIA THE M1 SOUTH: TO IZAK STEYL STADIUM Take the N1 BLOEMFONTEIN T (Do not take M27 Vereeniging) Pass Grasmere Engen garage on your left about 25km out of JHB Pass through Grasmere Plaza Tollgate Take the Vanderbijlpark / Sasolburg off-ramp from the N1-R57 You are now on the R57 with ISCOR on your left hand side You will come to a 4-way stop, carry on straight Next you will come to a robot (Shell service station on your left / Bophelong township on your right) carry on straight Next robot MILTON STREET (CW6) carry on straight Next robot, take the slip road to the left. This is the R42 Once on the R42 pass the following intersections: FARADAY BOULEVARD FRIKKIE MEYER BOULEVARD WESTINGHOUSE BOULEVARD TURN left into ANDRIES POTGIETER BOULEVARD Follow the road and you will come to the Izak Steyl Stadium (Vaal Tech sports fields) Drive into main entrance gates and hockey fields are behind the athletics track. TO RIVERSIDE HOTEL: Drive back to the Golden Highway (R57) Turn left and travel on the R57 until you see a sign board for the Riverside Hotel. Take the off-ramp and at the top turn left into RAVEL ROAD. At the 4-way stop turn right into BEETHOVEN travel a short distance and turn right into CHOPIN. At the end of CHOPIN turn left into WENNING STREET. Pass festival ground on your right and continue until you see the RIVERSIDE HOTEL on your right.
